Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

The T-One® T-Connector is a trailer lighting harness that provides a 4-way flat connector for towing. It connects to your vehicle's factory 6-pin connector and includes a module with integrated lighting control.
The hardware kit includes: one 15 Amp fuse, double-sided tape, cable ties (8.5"), plastic trim panel removal tools, Phillips screwdriver, safety glasses, and a test light. You will also need to have a trim panel remover tool available.
Yes. You must locate the vehicle's battery, disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable before beginning installation. This is a critical safety step to prevent serious injury and damage to the vehicle's electrical system.
The vehicle's white 6-pin connector is located behind the upper trim panel on the driver's side of the rear interior. You access it by opening the hatch, removing the rear threshold, cargo net and cargo cover, and carefully pulling back the upper trim panel on the driver's side.
Gently pull back the upper trim panel on the driver's side to reveal the vehicle's white 6-pin connector. Insert the T-One® T-Connector harness into the vehicle's white 6-pin housing and lock it in place.
Mount the black box module on a flat surface inside the vehicle that is out of the way, to prevent damage or rattling. Clean the mounting surface with a 50-50 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water before applying the supplied double-sided tape to the flat side of the black box.
On the driver's side, locate the existing ground stud. Loosen the bolt, place the screw eyelet on the stud, and re-tighten the bolt. Ensure all existing ground connections remain attached and torque the existing ground screw to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
The manual states that the existing ground screw must be torqued to the manufacturer's torque specifications, but the specific torque value is not provided in this installation manual. Contact Horizon Global technical support at 800-632-3290 or TechnicalSupport@horizonglobal.com for the exact torque value.
For 2017–2022 models (all styles), locate the interior fuse compartment under the steering column. Remove the fuse compartment cover and lid, then locate fuse location 37. If not already installed, insert the 15 Amp fuse from the included hardware kit. Note: This fuse location is not available on all models.
For 2023 and current models (all styles), locate the interior fuse compartment under the steering column. Remove the fuse compartment cover and lid, then locate fuse location 17. If not already installed, insert the 15 Amp fuse from the included hardware kit. Note: This fuse location is not available on all models.
A 15 Amp fuse is required. This fuse is included in the hardware kit. Do not use a fuse with a higher amperage rating, as replacing a fuse that exceeds the product fuse amperage rating and the vehicle fuse amperage rating could result in damage to the vehicle and other attached accessories.
Secure the remainder of the T-One® T-Connector harness with the cable ties provided. Be careful to avoid any areas that would pinch, cut, or melt the wire. This prevents damage and rattling during vehicle operation.
When the 4-flat harness is not in use, store it in an out-of-the-way area in the rear cargo compartment to prevent damage and tangling.
Always wear safety glasses during installation. Do not touch the negative battery terminal to the positive battery terminal, as serious injury and damage to the vehicle's electrical system can occur. Read and follow all warnings and cautions printed on the vehicle's battery. Ensure all connections are complete before testing. Do not exceed the stated product ratings or the towing manufacturing rating in your vehicle's owner's manual.
If your vehicle is equipped with the Start/Stop option, do not connect the module power wire to the support battery. Connect the module only to the main vehicle battery. Failure to connect to the main vehicle battery may result in damage to the module.
Test and verify the installation with a test light or trailer once installed. For the initial test, reset the vehicle's electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. All connections must be complete for the T-One® T-Connector to function properly.
Perform a pre-trip inspection of the 4-way flat harness to ensure no damage to terminals and connection points for proper lighting connection and operation. Clean the 4-way flat connector after each use. Clean the connection and add dielectric grease (sold separately) to the terminal pins. Ensure the 4-way flat harness does not get pinched in door latches, trailer connection points, or contact the road surface.
First, ensure the T-One® Connector ends are fully inserted and locked in place. Remove the module's power fuse for 10 seconds and repeat the test. Check chassis grounds and ensure ring terminals are in full contact with the vehicle chassis. If the problem persists, remove the module's power fuse again.
The installation may have activated circuit protection. Start the vehicle and turn off all functions: tail (headlights), brake, and turns. Remove the module's power fuse for 10 seconds and repeat the test. Ensure the fuse is fully inserted into the fuse holder with no breaks. Verify the fuse holder is connected properly to the positive post of the battery. Using a tester or voltmeter, check for voltage on either side of the yellow butt connector near the module. Remove the module power fuse for 10 seconds and repeat the test.
