Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

Yes, the T-Connector is designed for Jaguar F-Pace. It is also compatible with Land Rover and Range Rover Velar models.
Yes, the T-Connector (part 118748-037) is compatible with Range Rover Velar.
The kit includes: a T-Connector harness with yellow, brown, and green wire ends; a black converter box; a white grounding wire with eyelet and screw; a black 12 gauge power wire; a yellow fuse holder with 15 amp fuse; a yellow butt connector; cable ties; and double-sided tape or wire tie mounting hardware. The 4-flat connector end and mounting bracket are not included.
Required tools are: trim panel remover, 10mm socket and ratchet or 10mm wrench, Torx 20 driver, drill with 3/32" bit, wire crimpers, wire cutters, Phillips head screwdriver, and test probe.
Yes. You must disconnect the vehicle's negative (-) battery cable before connecting the power wire to the positive battery terminal. This is done in step 12 before making the final electrical connections.
You must remove: both taillight assemblies, the bumper fascia, the bottom appearance panel, and floor coverings to access the battery. The taillight housings are disconnected and set aside, and the bumper fascia is removed by unbolting fasteners from the wheel wells and gently pulling it away.
Yes, a 3/32" hole must be drilled to secure the white grounding wire. However, you may use an existing ground stud instead if one is available near the connector. Before drilling, verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into the vehicle floor or bed, and do not drill into exposed surfaces.
Use a 3/32" drill bit to create the hole for securing the white grounding wire with the eyelet and screw provided.
Yes. On the driver's side, you must locate the small black grommet, slit it, and route the black 12 gauge power wire from the T-Connector box through it toward the battery.
The T-Connector harness has three colored wire ends: yellow (driver-side taillight connector), green (passenger-side taillight connector), and brown (routed with yellow on driver side). The black 12 gauge power wire connects to the vehicle's positive (+) battery terminal through a fuse holder. The white grounding wire connects to a ground point near the connector.
A 15 amp fuse is used. The fuse is installed in the yellow fuse holder provided in the kit and is placed in step 15 after the battery cable is reconnected.
The black 12 gauge power wire is routed from the T-Connector box through the driver-side grommet and along the threshold following existing wiring to the positive (+) battery terminal. A ring terminal is attached to the positive battery cable, and the fuse holder is connected between the ring terminal and the black 12 gauge wire using the yellow butt connector provided.
Mount the black converter box on the driver's side on a flat surface above the exhaust, away from hot pipes and heat shields that could pinch or break the wire. Use double-sided tape or wire ties to secure it. The epoxy side of the module must point toward the ground to prevent water buildup.
The 4-flat connector end should be mounted in an accessible location using a bracket or electrical box. The bracket and electrical box are not included with the T-Connector kit and must be obtained separately.
Wear safety glasses during installation. Avoid hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tank, and other points that may pinch or break wires. Do not drill into the vehicle floor, bed, or exposed surfaces. Verify what is behind any surface before drilling. Do not exceed the product's amperage ratings or the vehicle's towing manufacturing rating. Read all warnings on the vehicle battery and in the vehicle owner's manual before beginning.
After installation is complete, test and verify the installation using a test light or by connecting a trailer. For the initial test, reset the vehicle's electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. All connections must be complete for the T-Connector to function properly.
When reinstalling the taillight housing assemblies, position the vehicle wiring harness between the housing and the vehicle body. Secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness with the cable ties provided to prevent damage or rattling, and avoid any areas that would pinch, cut, or melt the wire.
On the driver's side, insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock it into place. Be careful not to damage the locking tabs and ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on the passenger's side with the T-Connector end containing the green wire.
Route the T-Connector end with yellow and brown wires behind the fascia supports following the existing wire harness to the driver-side taillight pocket. Route the T-Connector end with the green wire over to the passenger side and up behind the fascia bumper supports to the passenger-side taillight pocket. Avoid hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tank, and other points that may pinch or break the wire.
First, remove 2 screws from the wheel well on each side using a screwdriver. Behind the wheel well, use a T20 torx socket to remove 2 screws and a screwdriver to remove 4 screws on each side. Use plastic trim tools to remove the fascia starting at the outer edges near the wheel wells and gently pull it away. Disconnect the wiring harness on the driver's side if present.
Using a 10mm socket and Phillips screwdriver, remove 3 screws and 4 plastic screws from the panel and set them aside.
Open the tailgate. Inside the vehicle behind the taillights, remove the plastic cover and pull back the insulation liner to access the plastic wing nut holding the taillight in place. Disconnect the connector and carefully set aside the taillight housings. Repeat for both driver and passenger sides.
Reconnect the vehicle's negative (-) battery cable and install the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder. Then reinstall all plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and other items that were removed during installation, being careful not to pinch or cut the wires.
The T-Connector (118748-037) fits Jaguar F-Pace, Land Rover, and Range Rover Velar.
You need: trim panel remover, 10mm socket/ratchet or wrench, Torx 20 driver, drill with 3/32" bit, wire crimpers, wire cutters, Phillips screwdriver, and test probe.
Yes, disconnect the negative (-) battery cable before making electrical connections to the positive terminal.
A 15 amp fuse is used in the yellow fuse holder provided with the kit.
Do not exceed the product's amperage ratings or the vehicle's towing manufacturing rating. Overloading circuits can cause fires. Read all warnings on the vehicle battery and in the owner's manual.
