Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

The T-One® Connector is a trailer tow harness adapter that connects to your vehicle's existing tow-plug harness. It includes a black converter box-module and a 4-Flat connector that allows you to connect a trailer to your vehicle's electrical system. The system uses a 15 amp fuse for circuit protection.
Yes, the manual shows the T-One® Connector installed on a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. However, the manual does not list other compatible vehicles. Contact the manufacturer or check the product fitment database to confirm compatibility with your specific year and model.
Yes. The T-One® Connector is designed to insert into your vehicle's existing tow-plug harness on the driver's side. If your vehicle does not have a factory tow-plug harness, this product will not work.
You will need: trim panel remover, 10mm socket and ratchet or 10mm wrench, drill with 3/32" drill bit, wire crimpers, wire cutters, Phillips head screwdriver, and a test probe. You will also need a 15 amp fuse (to be installed in step 9).
The manual states that an eyelet, screw, cable ties, and a fuse holder are provided. The manual does not list part numbers or quantities for these items. A 15 amp fuse must be installed in step 9.
Yes. You must disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable before beginning installation. If the fuse has not already been removed from the fuse holder on the T-One® Connector harness, remove it before disconnecting the battery. Reconnect the battery cable and install the 15 amp fuse in step 9, after all other installation steps are complete.
Open the rear hatch and partially remove the plastic threshold cover and cargo trays. Pull back the driver's side trim panel to access the vehicle's wiring in the rear cargo area.
On the driver's side, locate the vehicle's mating tow-plug connector. Insert the T-One® Connector harness into the vehicle's tow-plug harness and lock it into place. The connection is made by inserting the harness; no tools are required for this step.
Mount the black box-module on a flat surface in an out-of-the-way location to prevent damage or rattling. The manual does not specify exact dimensions or clearance requirements for the mounting location.
You should first locate an existing ground stud or point near the connector. If no suitable existing ground point is available, you may drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided. Do not drill into the vehicle floor or bed. Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area before securing the ground wire.
Before drilling, verify what is behind any surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces. Do not drill into the vehicle floor or bed. Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area where you will drill.
Route the 4-Flat connector from below the driver's side trim panel into the rear storage compartment. If routing the wire through a grommet and along the exterior of the vehicle, carefully avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or any other points that may pinch or break the wire.
Secure the T-One® Connector harness with the cable ties provided to prevent damage, rattling, and to avoid areas that would pinch, cut, or melt the wire. Secure all loose wires and mount the trailer tow harness in an accessible location with a bracket or electrical box.
The T-One® Connector uses a 15 amp fuse. Install this fuse in the fuse holder in step 9, after reconnecting the vehicle's negative battery cable. Do not exceed the stated product ratings or the towing manufacturer rating.
Always wear safety glasses during installation. Read and follow all warnings and cautions printed on the tow vehicle's battery. Do not exceed the stated product ratings or the towing manufacturer rating (whichever is lower). Overloading circuits can cause fires. Read your vehicle's owner's manual and instruction sheet for additional information.
After installation is complete, test and verify the installation with a test light or by connecting a trailer. For the initial test, reset the vehicle's electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. All connections must be complete for the T-One® Connector to function properly.
Reinstall all plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and other items removed during installation, being careful not to pinch or cut the wires. Secure all loose wires and mount the trailer tow harness in an accessible location with a bracket or electrical box. Store the 4-Flat connector in the rear cargo area when not in use.
Store the 4-Flat connector in the rear cargo area of the vehicle when not in use.
The manual confirms fitment for Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. For other vehicles, verify your vehicle has a factory tow-plug harness and check the product fitment database or contact the manufacturer.
Drilling is required only if no existing ground stud is available. If needed, drill a single 3/32" hole for the ground wire. Do not drill into the vehicle floor or bed.
Do not exceed the lower of the towing manufacturer's rating (in your vehicle owner's manual) or the specific amperage ratings stated on the product. Overloading circuits can cause fires.
