Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

Yes, the T-One® Connector model 118850-037 is designed for the Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60. The installation accesses the driver-side white male connector housing and the passenger-side gray 6-way trailer harness connector located near the rear fascia.
You will need: trim panel remover, 10 mm socket and ratchet or 10 mm wrench, wire crimpers, wire cutters, and a test-probe. A relay is provided in the hardware kit and must be used; do not substitute with a different relay.
No. The bracket or electrical box for mounting the 4-flat end is not included and must be sourced separately. The 4-flat end must be mounted in an accessible location.
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected before installation. However, after installation is complete, you must reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition to test the connector.
1. Open the rear hatch and partially remove the cargo tray and plastic threshold cover. 2. Remove the 3 retaining 10 mm bolts and push clips holding the cargo tray, then lift and lay it back. 3. Remove the rear cargo hooks using a 10 mm socket and partially pull the driver-side trim panel to access the harness wiring. 4. Locate the vehicle's white male connector housing on the driver's side and insert the white female connector, locking it into place. 5. Insert the provided relay into the 4-pin relay connector harness and secure with cable ties. 6. Locate the gray 6-way trailer harness connector on the passenger's side near the rear fascia. 7. Route the T-Connector harness rearward to the back of the bumper fascia and secure with cable ties. 8. Mount the 4-flat end in an accessible location with a bracket or electrical box. 9. Secure the remainder of the harness with cable ties, avoiding areas that could pinch, cut or melt the wire. 10. The gray 6-way trailer harness connector is located underneath the rear of the vehicle on the passenger's side, near the rear fascia. The T-Connector harness is routed rearward from this location to the back of the bumper fascia.
You must use the relay provided in the hardware kit. Using relays that differ from the relay included in the hardware kit can result in the unit not functioning or may damage the vehicle and/or trailer wiring. The relay is inserted into the 4-pin mating relay connector harness.
Route the T-Connector harness rearward to the back of the bumper fascia. Secure the harness with the cable ties provided. Be careful to avoid any areas that would pinch, cut or melt the wire. The harness must be secured to prevent damage or rattling.
Yes. You must open the rear hatch, partially remove the cargo tray and plastic threshold cover, then remove the 3 retaining 10 mm bolts and push clips holding the cargo tray in place. Lift up the cargo tray and lay it back toward the rear seats to access the harness wiring on the driver's side.
A 10 mm socket and ratchet or 10 mm wrench is required. The cargo tray is held by 3 retaining 10 mm bolts and push clips. The rear cargo hooks are also removed using a 10 mm socket.
After installation is complete, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. Then test and verify the installation with a test light or by connecting a trailer. All connections must be complete for the T-One® Connector to function properly.
The manual does not state the specific amperage rating for the T-One® Connector. However, you must not exceed the lower of: the towing manufacturer rating (including that in your vehicle owner's manual) or the specific amperage ratings stated on the product itself. Check the product label and your vehicle's owner's manual for these ratings.
Always wear safety glasses during installation. Follow all warnings and instructions included with the product and printed on the tow vehicle's battery. Do not pinch, cut or melt wires during routing and reinstallation. Ensure all connections are complete before testing. Do not exceed the stated product ratings or the lower of the towing manufacturer rating or vehicle owner's manual rating, as overloading circuits can cause fires.
After reinstalling the plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor covering and other removed items, ensure you have not pinched or cut any wires. Verify that all connections are complete and test the T-One® Connector with a test light or trailer to confirm proper function.
