Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

Yes, the Tekonsha T-One T-Connector Harness, 4-Way Flat, w/Circuit Protected ModuLite Module TK118470 (Part #TK118470) is designed to fit the 2007-2025 Nissan Altima.
The Tekonsha T-One T-Connector Harness, 4-Way Flat, w/Circuit Protected ModuLite Module TK118470 (Part #TK118470) fits the following vehicles: 2007-2025 Nissan Altima; 2004-2014 Nissan Maxima; 2007-2012 Nissan Sentra. Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
The Tekonsha T-One T-Connector Harness, 4-Way Flat, w/Circuit Protected ModuLite Module TK118470 (Part #TK118470) Drilling is required for installation. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the T-Connector 118470-037 is designed for Nissan Altima and Nissan Sentra vehicles. The manual does not specify model years or trim levels, so contact the manufacturer or your installer to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.
The T-Connector is a taillight wiring interface that connects between the vehicle's taillight wiring harness and a trailer connector. It allows you to route a 4-flat trailer connector from the trunk for towing use.
You will need: a trim panel remover, a drill with a 3/32" drill bit, a Phillips head screwdriver, and a test probe. The test probe is used to verify the installation after completion.
The T-Connector kit includes: two T-Connector ends (one with yellow wire, one with green wire), a black box unit, double-sided tape, an eyelet and screw for the ground wire, a yellow fuse holder with a 10 amp fuse, two yellow butt connectors, and a 4-flat trailer connector. A ring terminal is also provided for battery connection.
Yes. You must disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable before connecting the fuse holder to the battery. The battery is reconnected in step 10 after all other connections are complete.
Open the trunk, temporarily remove the rear threshold plate, and partially remove the felt trunk liner behind the taillights. These items are reinstalled in step 11 after all wiring is complete.
Locate the taillight wiring harness on both the driver and passenger sides. Separate the existing connector carefully without breaking the locking tabs. Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire on the driver's side between the vehicle connectors and lock into place. Route the T-Connector end with the green wire to the passenger's side behind the panels and along the threshold, then repeat the connection process. Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Yes. You must drill a 3/32" hole near the taillight connector to secure the white ground wire using the provided eyelet and screw. Before drilling, verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.
Mount the black box in the driver's side storage area (trunk). Clean a flat area using a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water, then secure the black box using the double-sided tape provided.
Route the 4-flat connector from below the threshold plate into the trunk. Store it in the trunk when not in use.
From inside the vehicle, connect the black 12 gauge wire and the red wire from the T-Connector black box using the supplied yellow butt connector.
You may either route the black wire through a grommet and along the exterior frame, or follow the existing wiring along the thresholds into the engine compartment up to the battery. Whichever route you choose, avoid areas that may pinch or break the wire. If routing through a grommet and along the exterior, avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, and any other points that may pinch or break the wire.
Disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable. Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder if not already removed. Cut the fuse holder wire, attach the ring terminal, and secure it to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable. Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 gauge wire using the yellow butt connector. Reconnect the negative battery cable and install the 10 amp fuse into the fuse holder.
Install a 10 amp fuse into the yellow fuse holder provided with the T-Connector.
Do not exceed the lower of the towing manufacturer's rating or: maximum 1 stop/turn light per side (2.1 amps), or maximum tail lights (5.6 amps). Overloading the circuit can cause fires. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual and the towing manufacturer's instruction sheet for additional information.
All connections must be complete for the T-Connector to function properly. Test and verify the installation with a test light or by connecting an actual trailer once installed. For the initial test, reset the vehicle's electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
Reinstall the felt trunk liner, threshold plate, and any other items removed during installation. Be careful not to pinch or cut the wires during reinstallation.
Wear safety glasses during installation. Before drilling, verify what is behind any surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces. When routing wires, avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, and any points that may pinch or break the wire. Read and follow all warnings and cautions printed on the vehicle's battery. Ensure all connections are complete before testing.
The T-Connector fits Nissan Altima and Nissan Sentra. Confirm your specific model year and trim with the manufacturer or installer.
You need a trim panel remover, drill with 3/32" bit, Phillips head screwdriver, and test probe.
Yes, disconnect the negative battery cable before connecting the fuse holder to the battery. Reconnect it after all other connections are complete.
Yes, you must drill a 3/32" hole to secure the white ground wire. Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage.
