Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
Yes, the Tekonsha T-One T-Connector Harness, 4-Way Flat, w/Converter TK118376 (Part #TK118376) is designed to fit the 2001-2003 Chrysler Town & Country.
The Tekonsha T-One T-Connector Harness, 4-Way Flat, w/Converter TK118376 (Part #TK118376) Drilling is required for installation. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The T-Connector is a trailer wiring adapter that includes a black converter box. It allows you to connect trailer wiring to your vehicle's electrical system by tapping into the driver's side rear taillamp circuit. The converter box processes the signal and is stored in the vehicle's jack storage compartment when not in use.
You will need a utility knife, a 3/32" drill bit, and a circuit tester or trailer for testing the installation. The T-Connector kit includes an eyelet, screw, and optional double-sided tape and cable ties for securing the converter box. You may also need a screwdriver to install the provided screw.
The kit includes a red locking tab for the connector, a white ground wire with an eyelet and screw for securing to the vehicle body, a rubber grommet, double-sided tape, cable ties, and a mounting tab on the converter box. A 3/32" screw is provided for securing the converter box if drilling is used instead of tape or cable ties.
Remove the driver's side rear taillamp housing. Slide the red locking tab on the harness connector to the unlocked position and disconnect the wire harness from the taillamp sockets.
Open the vehicle's jack storage cover on the driver's side and partially remove the driver's side rear trim panel. Using the connector end of the T-Connector, push it inside the vehicle through the jack storage compartment and out through the driver's side rear taillamp opening. If necessary, peel back the black tape covering a hole on the vehicle body panel to allow the connector to pass through, then reposition the tape over the hole and wires.
Plug the T-Connector between the mating plug on the taillamp socket and the vehicle's wiring harness. Secure the connectors with the red locking tab.
Yes. With the vehicle wiring and grommets exposed, slit the grommet on the driver's side with a utility knife from the hole where the vehicle wiring passes through the grommet to the outside edge. Unwrap the tape around the grommet tabs, or cut the tabs off the grommet that hold it to the wires. After installing the T-Connector, place the grommet over the T-Connector wiring and push all existing vehicle wiring back into the grommet hole to re-seat it.
Drilling is required for two tasks: securing the white ground wire and securing the black converter box. For the ground wire, drill a 3/32" hole at a suitable grounding point on the vehicle body and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided. For the converter box, you may use double-sided tape and cable ties, or drill a 3/32" hole at a suitable mounting position and secure it with the screw provided using the mounting tab on the converter box. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.
Both the ground wire eyelet and the converter box mounting screw require a 3/32" hole.
Locate a suitable grounding point on the vehicle body. Drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.
Yes. The manual states you may secure the black converter box and trailer wiring with double-sided tape and cable ties as an alternative to drilling. If you choose to drill, locate a suitable mounting position, drill a 3/32" hole, and secure the converter box with the screw provided using the mounting tab on the converter box to prevent damage or rattling.
The black converter box should be placed inside the jack storage compartment.
The white wire is the ground wire for the T-Connector. Locate a suitable grounding point on the vehicle body, drill a 3/32" hole, and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.
Test the installation with a circuit tester or trailer. This verifies that the electrical connection is working correctly before you complete the installation by replacing all trim panels.
Replace all trim panels removed during the installation steps. Reinstall the taillamp housing, positioning the wire harness between the housing and the vehicle body. Store the 4-Flat connector in the jack storage compartment when not in use.
Do not drill into any exposed surfaces when securing the white ground wire or the converter box. This prevents damage to visible parts of the vehicle and potential safety hazards.
Yes. Slit the grommet with a utility knife and unwrap or cut the tabs holding it to the wires. After installing the T-Connector, re-seat the grommet over the T-Connector wiring.
The black converter box must be placed inside the jack storage compartment and can be secured with double-sided tape, cable ties, or a 3/32" screw.
Test with a circuit tester or trailer to verify the electrical connection is working before reinstalling trim panels.
