Each box features a corrosion-resistant aluminum construction, a stainless steel locking system, a patented RigidCore foam-filled lid and integrated tool storage -- all to keep your equipment and valuables safe, well-organized and easily accessible whenever needed. Each UWS tool box and storage box is constructed from extra-thick aluminum for increased structural strength. The tub is welded together into a single piece for weather resistance and to easily hold heavy tools and other items. The lid features a patented foam core, sandwiched between two aluminum plates. This core greatly increases the rigidity of the lid and helps prevent bending and warping, making operation very smooth. The locking mechanism of the UWS truck tool box provides excellent security for your items, featuring stainless steel, key-operated paddle handles. Stainless steel construction supplies the locks with long-lasting corrosion resistance, and they feature an internal connecting rod that allows the lid to be opened from either side of the truck. For solid protection against the elements, the lid also has a MicroSeal gasket, blocking moisture, dust and insects from getting inside and damaging your valuables. The lid also opens a full 90 degrees for easier access, and it is equipped with self-opening struts for convenient operation when your hands are full. UWS utility chest boxes are available in multiple sizes to accommodate any storage need. The package includes one utility chest box and two keys. A mounting hardware kit (part #003-CBOXMK) may or may not be included depending on the model. If the hardware kit is not included, you will need to purchase your own hardware: two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts.
The chest box mounts to truck beds with raised ribs, which serve as alignment points for the two mounting locations. If your truck has a plastic drop-in bed liner, it may need to be trimmed or cut for proper attachment. Before drilling, you must verify that the drill location does not puncture brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other critical components underneath the truck bed.
You will need: a drill, 11/32" drill bit, 1/2" drill bit, ratchet, socket set, tape measure, and level. If you are using the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, follow the instructions included with that kit. If you are purchasing hardware separately, you will also need two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts.
Before drilling, check underneath your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other components. Take special precaution that fasteners near the fuel tank do not create the possibility of fuel tank puncture or damage during a collision. 1. Place the chest box in the desired location and check that the lid operates properly. Select two mounting points in the bottom of the chest box aligned with the raised ribs in the truck bed. 2. Drill through the chest box and truck bed with an 11/32" drill bit. If using the hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, enlarge the truck bed holes with a 1/2" drill bit and follow the kit instructions. Otherwise, install two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts. 3. Tighten all fasteners to the recommended torque values. Use silicone-type caulk to seal any open areas around the washers to prevent water seepage. 4. Adjust strikers if needed and lubricate them and the locks periodically.
