UWS utility chest boxes provide unbeatable storage and security for your items, whether in the shop, at home or on the job. Each box features a corrosion-resistant aluminum construction, a stainless steel locking system, a patented RigidCore foam-filled lid and integrated tool storage -- all to keep your equipment and valuables safe, well-organized and easily accessible whenever needed. Each UWS tool box and storage box is constructed from extra-thick aluminum for increased structural strength. The tub is welded together into a single piece for weather resistance and to easily hold heavy tools and other items. The lid features a patented foam core, sandwiched between two aluminum plates. This core greatly increases the rigidity of the lid and helps prevent bending and warping, making operation very smooth. The locking mechanism of the UWS truck tool box provides excellent security for your items, featuring a stainless steel, key-operated paddle handle. Stainless steel construction supplies the lock with long-lasting corrosion resistance. For solid protection against the elements, the lid also has a MicroSeal gasket, blocking moisture, dust and insects from getting inside and damaging your valuables. The lid also opens a full 90 degrees for easier access, and it is equipped with self-opening struts for convenient operation when your hands are full. UWS utility chest boxes are available in multiple sizes to accommodate any storage need. Like all UWS products, each one is proudly assembled right here in the USA for style and long-lasting dependability (NOTE: This product is heavily packaged for parcel shipping).

UWS designs and builds heavy-duty truck tool boxes and storage for tradespeople and truck owners. The line covers crossover and side-mount boxes, chest boxes, underbody boxes, transfer tanks and dog boxes. Every aluminum box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, with construction aimed at job-site abuse, road vibration and daily use.
UWS is a leading manufacturer and designer of truck tool boxes and truck accessories, and a Lippert brand. The company's focus is narrow and deliberate: storage that stands up to being opened and slammed shut dozens of times a day, loaded past what looks reasonable, and left outdoors in whatever weather the job brings. Its customers are electricians, plumbers, contractors, farmers, outdoorsmen and truck owners who treat a pickup as a working tool rather than transport.
The catalog covers the full range of bed storage. Crossover boxes sit across the bed behind the cab in single-lid, gull-wing, secure-lock and low-profile styles, so there is a fit whether the priority is capacity, rear visibility or working under a tonneau. Side-mount boxes mount along the bed rails and keep the bed floor free for cargo, while underbody boxes tuck beneath the frame rails of service bodies and flatbeds.
Beyond the bed, UWS makes portable chest boxes that move between vehicles and the shop, transfer tanks and combination tank-and-toolbox units for crews working away from fuel supply, and insulated, ventilated dog boxes for hunters and handlers.
Manufacturing sits at the centre of the brand's identity. Every UWS aluminum tool box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, by tradespeople with decades of experience, and the company's Rooted in Trades initiative is built around that connection to skilled manual work. Boxes use heavy-gauge aluminum, continuous welds at the seams, weather stripping to seal against rain and dust, and locking systems intended to resist tampering. The practical result is storage that keeps tools dry, organized and where they were left.

The package includes one utility chest box, two keys, and a mounting hardware kit (though not all models include the hardware kit—you may need to purchase your own). If you do not receive a hardware kit, you will need to obtain two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts separately.
The manual does not specify which vehicle models or bed lengths are compatible. Before purchasing, contact CURT Group at 877.287.8634 or consult your dealer to confirm fitment for your specific truck. The installation requires two mounting points aligned with the raised ribs in the truck bed.
Yes, but the plastic bed liner may need to be trimmed or cut for proper attachment of the chest box. Plan for this modification during installation.
You will need: a drill, 11/32" drill bit, 1/2" drill bit, ratchet, socket set, and tape measure. The installation is rated as Easy difficulty.
You will need two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts. These must be tightened to the torque specifications on page 1: 7 ft-lbs for 5/16" bolts or M8 bolts.
Before drilling, check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake or fuel fluid lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks, or other components. Take precaution that all fasteners near the fuel tank do not create the possibility of fuel tank puncture or other damage during a collision.
Place the chest box in the desired location and check for proper lid operation. In the bottom of the chest box, select two mounting points for securing the box to the truck bed. The chosen points should be aligned with the raised ribs in the truck bed.
Use an 11/32" drill bit to drill through the chest box and truck bed. If you are using the optional mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, you will need to enlarge the holes in the truck bed with a 1/2" drill bit and follow the instructions included with that kit.
Yes. Treat or seal all fasteners and exposed metal in any holes drilled in the vehicle to prevent corrosion. Use a silicone-type caulk as needed to fill in any open areas around the bolt flat washer or bonded washer inside the chest box to prevent water from seeping into the chest box.
Tighten 5/16" bolts to 7 ft-lbs. This applies to the two 5/16" bolts used to secure the chest box to the truck bed. If you are using M8 bolts instead, the torque specification is also 7 ft-lbs.
General torque specifications are: M6 bolt 3 ft-lbs, M8 bolt 7 ft-lbs, M10 bolt 16 ft-lbs, M12 bolt 28 ft-lbs; 1/4" bolt 3 ft-lbs, 5/16" bolt 7 ft-lbs, 3/8" bolt 16 ft-lbs, 7/16" bolt 20 ft-lbs, 1/2" bolt 28 ft-lbs. If purchasing hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
Do not use this product for storing or transporting flammables, explosives, hazardous materials or hazardous waste, such as containers of gasoline, solvents, gun powder, dynamite, propane tanks, acetylene tanks and cutting torches. Danger of explosion.
Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended capacity. The chest box can reduce the driver's ability to clearly see roadways, vehicular or pedestrian traffic and other objects through the rear and side windows of the vehicle, which may cause an accident. Extra precaution should be taken when driving a vehicle with this product.
No. Do not interfere with factory-installed safety equipment. Ensure the installation does not obstruct or damage any factory safety systems.
Ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured. Check that the lid operates properly. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion and fatigue. With the chest box installed, periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.
For polished, gloss and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs on the finish. Mild automotive detergent may be used to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products that may damage the finish.
Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance. If the strikers are ever out of alignment, simply loosen, adjust and re-tighten.
The manual does not specify compatible vehicle models or bed lengths. Contact CURT Group at 877.287.8634 or your dealer to confirm fitment for your specific truck.
You need a drill, 11/32" and 1/2" drill bits, ratchet, socket set, and tape measure. Installation is rated Easy.
Yes. You must drill two holes through the chest box and truck bed using an 11/32" drill bit. If using the optional hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, enlarge the truck bed holes to 1/2".
