UWS utility chest boxes provide unbeatable storage and security for your items, whether in the shop, at home or on the job. Each box features a corrosion-resistant aluminum construction, a stainless steel locking system, a patented RigidCore foam-filled lid and integrated tool storage -- all to keep your equipment and valuables safe, well-organized and easily accessible whenever needed. Each UWS tool box and storage box is constructed from extra-thick aluminum for increased structural strength. The tub is welded together into a single piece for weather resistance and to easily hold heavy tools and other items. The lid features a patented foam core, sandwiched between two aluminum plates. This core greatly increases the rigidity of the lid and helps prevent bending and warping, making operation very smooth. The locking mechanism of the UWS truck tool box provides excellent security for your items, featuring stainless steel, key-operated paddle handles. Stainless steel construction supplies the locks with long-lasting corrosion resistance, and they feature an internal connecting rod that allows the lid to be opened from either side of the truck. For solid protection against the elements, the lid also has a MicroSeal gasket, blocking moisture, dust and insects from getting inside and damaging your valuables. The lid also opens a full 90 degrees for easier access, and it is equipped with self-opening struts for convenient operation when your hands are full. UWS utility chest boxes are available in multiple sizes to accommodate any storage need. Like all UWS products, each one is proudly assembled right here in the USA for style and long-lasting dependability (NOTE: This product is heavily packaged for parcel shipping). UWS designs and builds heavy-duty truck tool boxes and storage for tradespeople and truck owners. The line covers crossover and side-mount boxes, chest boxes, underbody boxes, transfer tanks and dog boxes. Every aluminum box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, with construction aimed at job-site abuse, road vibration and daily use.
UWS is a leading manufacturer and designer of truck tool boxes and truck accessories, and a Lippert brand. The company's focus is narrow and deliberate: storage that stands up to being opened and slammed shut dozens of times a day, loaded past what looks reasonable, and left outdoors in whatever weather the job brings. Its customers are electricians, plumbers, contractors, farmers, outdoorsmen and truck owners who treat a pickup as a working tool rather than transport.
The catalog covers the full range of bed storage. Crossover boxes sit across the bed behind the cab in single-lid, gull-wing, secure-lock and low-profile styles, so there is a fit whether the priority is capacity, rear visibility or working under a tonneau. Side-mount boxes mount along the bed rails and keep the bed floor free for cargo, while underbody boxes tuck beneath the frame rails of service bodies and flatbeds.
Beyond the bed, UWS makes portable chest boxes that move between vehicles and the shop, transfer tanks and combination tank-and-toolbox units for crews working away from fuel supply, and insulated, ventilated dog boxes for hunters and handlers.
Manufacturing sits at the centre of the brand's identity. Every UWS aluminum tool box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, by tradespeople with decades of experience, and the company's Rooted in Trades initiative is built around that connection to skilled manual work. Boxes use heavy-gauge aluminum, continuous welds at the seams, weather stripping to seal against rain and dust, and locking systems intended to resist tampering. The practical result is storage that keeps tools dry, organized and where they were left.

The package includes one utility chest box, two keys, and a mounting hardware kit (though not all models include the hardware kit—you may need to purchase your own hardware separately). If you do not receive a mounting hardware kit, you will need to obtain two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts for installation.
The manual does not specify which truck models, bed lengths or cab styles are compatible with this chest box. Contact CURT Group at 877.287.8634 or consult your dealer to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle before purchasing.
Yes, but the plastic drop-in bed liner may need to be trimmed or cut for proper attachment of the chest box. Plan to modify the liner during installation if necessary.
You will need: a drill, 1/2" drill bit, 11/32" drill bit, ratchet, socket set, tape measure, and level. A silicone-type caulk is also recommended to seal areas around fasteners to prevent water seepage.
Not all models include a mounting hardware kit. If your chest box does not include one, you will need to purchase two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts. Alternatively, you can use the optional mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, which requires enlarging the truck bed holes to 1/2" and following the kit's included instructions.
Before drilling, check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other components. Take special precaution that fasteners near the fuel tank do not create the possibility of fuel tank puncture or damage during a collision.
Place the chest box in your desired location and check that the lid operates properly. Select two mounting points in the bottom of the chest box that are aligned with the raised ribs in the truck bed. These ribs provide structural support for the mounting points.
Use an 11/32" drill bit to drill through both the chest box and truck bed. If you are using the optional mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, you will then need to enlarge the holes in the truck bed with a 1/2" drill bit and follow the kit's instructions.
Drill through the chest box and truck bed with an 11/32" drill bit at two mounting points aligned with the truck bed's raised ribs. Install two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts through the bottom of the chest box and truck bed. If using the optional mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, enlarge the truck bed holes to 1/2" and follow the kit's instructions. Tighten all fasteners to the recommended torque values (5/16" bolt: 7 ft-lbs.; M8 bolt: 7 ft-lbs.). Use silicone-type caulk to seal any open areas around the washers to prevent water seepage.
The recommended torque specification for 5/16" bolts is 7 ft-lbs. This applies to the two mounting bolts securing the chest box to the truck bed. If you purchase hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
The recommended torque specification for M8 bolts is 7 ft-lbs. This applies if you use M8 bolts instead of 5/16" bolts for mounting the chest box to the truck bed. If you purchase hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
Yes. Use a silicone-type caulk to fill in any open areas around the bolt flat washer or bonded washer inside the chest box to prevent water from seeping into the chest box. Additionally, treat or seal all fasteners and exposed metal in any holes drilled in the vehicle to prevent corrosion.
If the strikers are out of alignment, simply loosen them, adjust to the correct position, and re-tighten. Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance.
Ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion and fatigue. With the chest box installed, perform periodic inspections to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.
Use mild automotive detergent to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products that may damage the finish. For polished, gloss and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs. Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance.
Do not use this product for storing or transporting flammables, explosives, hazardous materials or hazardous waste, such as containers of gasoline, solvents, gun powder, dynamite, propane tanks, acetylene tanks and cutting torches. Danger of explosion.
Yes. Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended capacity. Consult your vehicle's documentation or your dealer for the specific weight limit your truck bed can safely support.
Yes. This product can reduce the driver's ability to clearly see roadways, vehicular or pedestrian traffic and other objects through the rear and side windows of the vehicle, which may cause an accident. Extra precaution should be taken when driving a vehicle with this product installed.
No. Do not modify this product. Use it only for the purposes for which it was designed. If you have questions regarding the installation, operation, use and limits of the product, consult your dealer.
No. Do not interfere with factory-installed safety equipment. Ensure the chest box is positioned and installed in a way that does not obstruct or damage any factory safety systems, sensors, or equipment.
