UWS crossover truck tool boxes are the tried-and-true way of keeping your tools organized, on-hand and fully secure no matter where you and your truck roam. Each UWS tool box is built from extra-thick aluminum welded into a single-piece tub. This provides the tool box with reliable strength and helps keep the interior sealed off from the elements. Aluminum construction also makes the box highly resistant to corrosion for long-lasting use. To add even more strength to the crossover truck tool box, the lid features our patented RigidCore foam-filled design. Layered between two sheets of aluminum, this core greatly increases the structural integrity of the lid to prevent bending and warping and to ensure smooth opening and closing. The lid is able to open to a full 90 degrees, providing better access to tools, equipment and other stored items. It also features self-opening struts to make it easy to open the box when your hands are full. This particular truck tool box features a low profile, meaning the lid is built lower than our standard lid. This provides a better view out the rear cab window and additional clearance for other items in the truck bed, if needed. To keep out moisture, dirt and even insects, the lid is also fitted with a MicroSeal gasket that seals off the inside of the tool box from the outside elements. UWS crossover truck tool boxes make it easy to keep your tools and other items organized, featuring built-in screwdriver holders and a three-compartment sliding tool tray. The tool box itself is easy to install and is available in multiple sizes to provide the perfect for your truck and lifestyle. Like all UWS products, each crossover truck tool box is proudly assembled right here in the USA for style and long-lasting dependability (NOTE: This product is heavily packaged for parcel shipping).

UWS designs and builds heavy-duty truck tool boxes and storage for tradespeople and truck owners. The line covers crossover and side-mount boxes, chest boxes, underbody boxes, transfer tanks and dog boxes. Every aluminum box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, with construction aimed at job-site abuse, road vibration and daily use.
UWS is a leading manufacturer and designer of truck tool boxes and truck accessories, and a Lippert brand. The company's focus is narrow and deliberate: storage that stands up to being opened and slammed shut dozens of times a day, loaded past what looks reasonable, and left outdoors in whatever weather the job brings. Its customers are electricians, plumbers, contractors, farmers, outdoorsmen and truck owners who treat a pickup as a working tool rather than transport.
The catalog covers the full range of bed storage. Crossover boxes sit across the bed behind the cab in single-lid, gull-wing, secure-lock and low-profile styles, so there is a fit whether the priority is capacity, rear visibility or working under a tonneau. Side-mount boxes mount along the bed rails and keep the bed floor free for cargo, while underbody boxes tuck beneath the frame rails of service bodies and flatbeds.
Beyond the bed, UWS makes portable chest boxes that move between vehicles and the shop, transfer tanks and combination tank-and-toolbox units for crews working away from fuel supply, and insulated, ventilated dog boxes for hunters and handlers.
Manufacturing sits at the centre of the brand's identity. Every UWS aluminum tool box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, by tradespeople with decades of experience, and the company's Rooted in Trades initiative is built around that connection to skilled manual work. Boxes use heavy-gauge aluminum, continuous welds at the seams, weather stripping to seal against rain and dust, and locking systems intended to resist tampering. The practical result is storage that keeps tools dry, organized and where they were left.

The manual does not specify which truck models or bed styles are compatible with the EC10402. The tool box is designed to mount on truck bed rails using J-hooks and rail pads. Contact CURT Group at 877-287-8634 or consult your dealer to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle before purchasing.
Yes, clearance between the open lid and the cab is a critical requirement. During installation, you must open the tool box lid and verify there is clearance between the lid, top and back of the cab before fully tightening the hardware. This check is performed in Step 1 of the installation process.
Yes. The manual warns that this product can reduce the driver's ability to clearly see roadways, vehicular or pedestrian traffic and other objects through the rear and side windows of the vehicle, which may cause an accident. Extra precaution should be taken when driving a vehicle with this product installed.
You will need a ratchet, socket set, and tape measure. The ratchet and socket set are used to tighten the 1/4" nuts and washers that secure the J-hooks. The tape measure is used to center the tool box in the truck bed.
The manual does not explicitly state whether drilling is required for all installations. The tool box uses J-hooks that insert through existing bed rail slots and are secured with washers and nuts. If your truck bed rails do not have suitable slots, drilling may be necessary. Before drilling, you must check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other components.
Before drilling, you must check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake or fuel fluid lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks, or other components. Precaution must also be taken that all fasteners near the fuel tank do not create the possibility of fuel tank puncture or other damage during a collision.
Use a tape measure to ensure the tool box is centered in the truck bed. This measurement is performed in Step 1 before the J-hooks are attached, and again in Step 2 after the J-hooks are installed but before the hardware is fully tightened. Centering ensures even weight distribution and proper lid clearance.
The rail pads are adhesive-backed pads that protect the truck bed rails and the tool box. In Step 1, attach the adhesive side of each rail pad to the underside of the tool box ends. Then place the tool box with the adhered rail pads on top of the truck bed rails. The pads help distribute the load and prevent damage to both surfaces.
In Step 2, place a J-hook under the lip of the bed rail and insert the threaded end up through the slot. Use only one hole and J-hook assembly on each side of the vehicle. Attach the J-hook with a 1/4" washer and 1/4" nut. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten at this stage. After re-measuring to ensure the tool box is centered and lid clearance is correct, fully tighten all hardware.
No. In Step 2, snug the hardware but do not fully tighten initially. After re-measuring to ensure the tool box is centered and the lid has proper clearance when open, then fully tighten all hardware. This two-stage approach allows you to adjust the tool box position before final tightening.
The torque specification for 1/4" bolts is 3 ft-lbs. This is a general guideline. If you purchase replacement hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware instead.
Tool boxes come with adjustable strikers. If the strikers are ever out of alignment, simply loosen, adjust and re-tighten them. Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance.
After installation, ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured before every trip. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion and fatigue. With the crossover tool box installed, periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.
For polished, gloss and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs. Mild automotive detergent may be used to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products that may damage the finish. Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance.
Do not use this product for storing or transporting flammables, explosives, hazardous materials or hazardous waste, such as containers of gasoline, solvents, gun powder, dynamite, propane tanks, acetylene tanks and cutting torches. Danger of explosion exists if these materials are stored in the tool box.
Yes. Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended capacity. The manual does not specify the tool box's own weight capacity; refer to your vehicle's owner manual for the maximum load your truck bed can safely carry.
No. Do not modify this product. Modifications may compromise its structural integrity, safety and warranty. Use the product only for the purposes for which it was designed.
Treat or seal all fasteners and exposed metal in any holes drilled in the vehicle to prevent corrosion. This protects both the truck bed and the fasteners from rust and water damage.
The manual does not specify compatible models. Contact CURT Group at 877-287-8634 or your dealer to confirm fitment for your vehicle.
You need a ratchet, socket set, and tape measure. No drilling tools are mentioned as required.
The manual does not explicitly state whether drilling is required. The tool box uses J-hooks through existing bed rail slots. If your truck bed rails lack suitable slots, drilling may be necessary; check under the vehicle first to avoid puncturing fuel or brake lines.
The manual rates the installation as 'Easy' but does not specify an installation time. Proper tools will improve the quality of installation and reduce the time required.
