Yes, you must remove the bumper fascia panel as the first step. The manual notes that the panel may be reinstalled on some models after hitch installation if desired.
Yes, you must lower the exhaust to ease installation. After installation, you will raise it back into position and reinstall the rubber isolators.
Four (4) M12 bolts with conical toothed washers are installed through the side plates into the existing weldnuts in the frame rails.
If weldnuts are present in the bumper beam, install 2 M12 bolts and conical toothed washers directly. If weldnuts are not present, use the fishwire technique to install 1/2"-13 x 1.25" carriage bolts with CM-SP6 spacers, then secure with 2 1/2" hex flange nuts. Some models may require enlarging the square access hole next to the mounting locations.
All M12 hardware must be torqued to 86 ft-lbs.
All 1/2" hardware must be torqued to 110 ft-lbs.
Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The manual does not specify the hitch's capacity limits; you must consult your vehicle's documentation.
