Yes, the Curt 56275 Custom Wiring Harness is designed for the Toyota Prius C. It is a passenger car application and installs behind both the driver and passenger side taillight housings inside the trunk.
The Curt 56275 is a custom wiring harness that connects to your vehicle's taillight wiring to provide trailer lighting control. It includes a converter box and a 4-flat connector for trailer use.
The kit includes the custom wiring harness with green and yellow wire ends, a black converter box, a white ground wire with ring terminal and provided screw, a 4-flat connector with dust cover, double-sided tape, cable ties, and a reference sheet (CME-PCL-INS) for power wire routing.
Signal Circuits are rated at 3.0 amps per side. Tail/Running Circuits are rated at 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed these ratings or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower, as exceeding the product rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum fuse. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
You will need a 10mm socket, ratchet, panel trim removal tool, wire stripper, wire crimper, and cutting tool.
Yes. You must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation. The battery is located behind the push fasteners on the trim panel below the passenger rear seat. Press the center of the retainer inward to release the fastener, disengage the three clips and guides on the back of the cover, and disconnect the negative terminal.
The black converter box should be adhered to a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight using the provided double-sided tape. The area should be clean and flat to ensure proper adhesion.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no existing screw is available, drill a 3/32" pilot hole. The area must be free of rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Drilling may be required. You need to locate a grounding point near the taillight connector. If an existing screw with nut is available in the vehicle frame, no drilling is needed. If not, you must drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided ground screw. Before drilling, check for hidden items behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Remove the side trim panel and locate the vehicle taillight wiring harness connectors. Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring harness end (green wire for passenger side, yellow wire for driver side) between the separated connectors. Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Start on the passenger side. Remove the side trim panel, locate and separate the taillight connectors, and insert the harness end with the green wire between them. Secure the white ground wire. Then route the harness end with the yellow wire to the driver side behind the removed scuff panels and repeat the connector connection steps on the driver side.
When in use, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk. When not in use, roll it up and store in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
All installation steps must be followed to ensure proper function. Once installed, test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer.
Yes. You must open the vehicle trunk and remove all trunk floor coverings before proceeding with the installation.
To reinstall the 12-volt battery cover, ensure the clips and guides on the back of the cover are engaging properly. Push out on the center part of the clips, insert the clips, and push the center of the clip to fasten the trim panel. Then reconnect the negative battery terminal and install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
