You will need: a flat-head screwdriver, 3/4" socket, ratchet, torque wrench, aviation shears, and a rotary tool. Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation.
Yes. You must lower the exhaust by removing one rubber isolator located above the muffler before beginning installation. The exhaust is then raised back to its original position after the hitch is secured.
Yes. You must lower the spare tire carrier for ease of installation using a 7/8" socket located in the rear cargo area. The spare tire is then raised back to its original position after the hitch is secured.
Yes. You must trim the fascia on the driver side of the vehicle using aviation shears. The trim area is roughly 8" x 5", as shown in the trim diagram. You will also remove two fascia tabs with a flat-head screwdriver to expose the mounting hole, then reinstall one fascia tab after trimming.
Hole enlargement may be required depending on which fishwiring option you choose. If you use the secondary frame rail access option, you must enlarge the hole marked "secondary frame rail access" to 7/8" in size using a rotary tool on both sides. The first option—fishwiring through the existing hole in the frame rear—does not require enlargement.
There are two options. Option 1: fishwire the forward vehicle bolts through the hole in the frame rear of the vehicle on each side; this requires fishwiring the hardware over the suspension shackle. Option 2: enlarge the secondary frame rail access hole to 7/8" with a rotary tool on both sides, then fishwire hardware through the access hole to the rear mounting points. For rear mounting holes, fishwire hardware through the access hole in the rear cross member.
All 1/2" hardware must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. First, raise the hitch into position and loosely secure all 1/2" hardware. Once the hitch is properly aligned, apply the final torque.
The kit includes: 6 serrated flange nuts (1/2"-13 UNC, grade 8, part number 20-00062); 6 carriage bolts (1/2"-13 UNC, 1-1/4", grade 8, part number 10-10278); 6 square spacers (0.250" x 1.00" x 3.00", part number CM-SP6); and 6 pieces of 1/2" fishwire (part number 1_2 FISHWIRE).
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual lists the difficulty level as moderate to challenging.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before you begin installation, read all instructions thoroughly. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing maintenance is important for safe operation.
All non-trailer loads applied to this product must be supported by 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.
CURT Manufacturing warrants this product to be free of defects in material and workmanship at the time of retail purchase by the original purchaser. If the product is found to be defective, CURT may repair or replace it at their option when returned prepaid with proof of purchase. Alteration, misuse, or improper installation voids the warranty.
