Yes, the 16-22 HONDA Pilot CURT 4-flat Plug and Play Trailer Wiring (Part #CTW1382) is designed to fit the 2016-2022 Honda Pilot.
The 16-22 HONDA Pilot CURT 4-flat Plug and Play Trailer Wiring (Part #CTW1382) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the Curt 56291 Custom Wiring Connector is designed for Honda Pilot SUVs. The connector is installed behind the driver side rear access panel and connects to the white vehicle connector housing located in the cargo area.
The Curt 56291 is a custom wiring connector that provides a 4-flat connector for towing. It includes a converter box and allows you to connect a trailer to your Honda Pilot. The connector is routed to the center of the vehicle when in use and can be rolled up and stored when not needed.
You will need: 8mm socket, ratchet, Phillips screwdriver, and flat blade screwdriver. The manual also recommends having a test light or properly wired trailer available to test the connector after installation.
The kit includes: a custom wiring connector, a black converter box, a white ground wire with ring terminal, a provided screw for grounding, double-sided tape for adhering the converter box, a 10-amp fuse for the red fuse holder, a 30-amp tow/trailer fuse, cable ties for securing loose wires, and a 4-flat dust cover.
Yes, you must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation. This is the first step in the installation process and is required for safety.
You must remove: all trunk floor coverings and storage trays, the trim panel on the back of the rear seats, the center trim piece of the rear scuff panel, the rear scuff panel itself, the cargo holder on the driver side (held by a Phillips screw), and the side trim panel (held by a bolt under the cargo holder cover). Take care not to damage the alignment tabs on the scuff panel when removing it.
Locate the white vehicle connector housing by pulling outward on the side trim panel. Insert the custom wiring connector into the white vehicle connector housing, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. The white connector housing will be similar in appearance to the custom wiring connector.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. The area must be free of rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Drilling may be required. You may use an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame as a grounding point, but if no suitable point exists, you must drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided grounding screw. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape. The converter box should be positioned in a location where it will not interfere with vehicle operation or be easily damaged.
Two fuses are required: a 10-amp fuse installed into the red fuse holder on the converter harness, and a 30-amp tow/trailer fuse inserted into the vehicle fuse box in the engine compartment on the driver side. The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum. Do not exceed these ratings, as exceeding the product rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
Signal Circuits are rated at 3.0 amps per side. Tail/Running Circuits are rated at 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed these product ratings or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Exceeding the product rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
When in use, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle. When not in use, roll up and store in a convenient, out-of-the-way location. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties to prevent tangling and damage.
Test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer. All steps must be followed to ensure the wiring connector will function properly. After testing, install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
Reinstall all items removed during installation, including trim panels, cargo holder, scuff panel, and floor coverings. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion. Test the connector using a test light or properly wired trailer to verify proper function.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire. Do not exceed the product rating or tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
