Open the rear hatch. Starting on the driver side, remove the two taillight fasteners using a 10mm socket. Pull the taillight to the side of the vehicle—do not pull straight out, as alignment pins will cause it to break. Once removed, separate the connectors from the taillight, taking care not to damage the locating tabs. Repeat on the passenger side.
Fishwiring is a technique to push or pull an electrical wire through a blind hole. For part 56418, you route a fishwire (which can be a cut-up wire hanger, stiff wire, rope or string) down between the vehicle body and bumper cover. Locate it on the other side, use tape to secure the harness to the fishwire, and pull it back up. If the wire gets hung up, push back down, wiggle it around, or twist it to loosen it.
Route the green wire along the backside of the bumper cover. Use cable ties as needed to secure the wire in place. This applies to both driver and passenger sides.
