Yes. Installation requires removal of the factory crossmember. The four bolts securing the crossmember to the bottom of the frame rails must be removed (Step 4), and the factory crossmember is then set aside. The CURT hitch is then secured using those same four bolt holes.
Yes, but the spare tire lowering system must be temporarily disconnected during installation. The guide tube for the spare tire lowering system is disconnected from the rear crossmember in Step 2 and reconnected in Step 7. The spare tire support bracket is loosened, swiveled out of the way, and then reconnected to the hitch using the included 7/16" hardware.
Yes. The rear bumper must be removed during installation. Two bolts securing the bumper to the outside of each frame rail and two nuts securing the bumper to the crossmember at the rear are removed in Step 3. The bumper is then reinstalled in Step 6 using the same hardware.
Required tools are: ratchet, 21mm socket, 11/16" socket, 9" socket extension, 15mm socket, and torque wrench. A tools reference guide is available at curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
The kit includes one 7/16" carriage bolt and one 7/16" serrated-flange nut. These are used to secure the spare tire support bracket to the hitch. The factory bolts removed from the crossmember are reused to secure the hitch to the frame rails.

Remove bumper bolts and nuts, then remove bumper. 4. Remove four crossmember bolts from frame rails and remove crossmember. Clean weldnuts as needed. 5. Raise hitch into position and loosely secure with the four bolts. 6. Reinstall rear bumper with original hardware. 7. Reconnect electrical connectors and guide tube, connect spare tire support bracket to hitch with included 7/16" hardware, tighten remaining bracket bolt, and reinstall spare tire. 8. No. The hitch uses existing factory bolt holes in the frame rails. No drilling is required.
All M14 bolts must be torqued to 126 ft-lbs. These are the four bolts that secure the hitch to the frame rails.
Four electrical connections must be disconnected: two electrical connectors near the driver-side frame rail, one USCAR plug fastener from the crossmember, and two connectors by the license plate. All are reconnected in Step 7 after the bumper is reinstalled.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation. Additionally, never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity when using this hitch. The hitch has a maximum gross trailer weight of 8,000 lbs and tongue weight of 800 lbs (or 10,000 lbs GTW and 1,000 lbs tongue weight for weight distribution towing).
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure. The manual does not specify the inspection interval; contact CURT Product Support at 877.287.8634 for recommended inspection frequency.
