The 13566 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 2,000 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 200 lbs. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The kit includes 5 hex bolts (M12 - 1.25 x 40mm, Class 8.8) and 5 conical-toothed washers (1/2"). The hitch side plates attach to existing weld nuts on the vehicle frame.
You will need: a ratchet, torque wrench, 13mm socket, 19mm socket, and an exhaust removal tool. A 5/8" open-end wrench and pry bar can substitute for the exhaust removal tool if needed.
Yes. The exhaust must be lowered before installation. You will remove two bolts from each of the rear exhaust hanger brackets using a 13mm socket and remove the rearmost middle rubber holder from the exhaust hanger. Support the exhaust with a stand to prevent damage. The exhaust is reinstalled after the hitch is positioned.
Use a 5/8" open-end wrench and a pry bar. Slide the wrench up to the rubber isolator, cradling the hanger rod. Place the flat edge of the pry bar between the wrench and the hanger stop or hanger rod, then rotate the pry bar toward the wrench to remove the isolator. Using lubricant or soapy water on the hanger rod and isolator helps with removal.
Spray lubricant or compressed air into the weldnut holes to remove debris. For heavy debris, use a wire brush. Take care not to damage the threads.
All M12 fasteners must be torqued to 60 ft-lbs.
1. Lower the exhaust by removing bolts from the rear exhaust hanger brackets and removing the rearmost middle rubber holder. Support the exhaust with a stand. 2. Raise the hitch into position, sliding the driver side over the exhaust first. 3. Align the hitch holes with the weld nuts on both sides of the frame rail. 4. Loosely install the hex bolts and conical washers into the hitch holes and weld nuts on both sides. 5. Torque all M12 fasteners to 60 ft-lbs. 6. Reinstall the exhaust.
The conical-toothed washers should be installed with the teeth facing toward the hitch side plate, as shown in the assembly diagram on page 2.
Loosely install all hex bolts and conical washers first while aligning the hitch with the weld nuts on both sides of the frame rail. After the exhaust is reinstalled, torque all M12 fasteners to 60 ft-lbs.
Wear safety glasses at all times during installation. Support the exhaust with a stand to prevent damage. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure.
