The Curt 13016 (also listed as RRH13016) is designed for 1978–1996 Chevy and GMC full-size vans. If your van is within this year range and is a full-size model, it should fit. Verify your vehicle year and size against these specifications before purchasing.
On late-model vehicles (within the 78–96 range), the fuel tank filler line passes through the access hole on the driver's side and a tail light wire passes through the access hole on the passenger's side. The installation procedure accounts for this by using fishwire to route the carriage bolts through the frame opening. No interference is expected if installation steps are followed correctly.
The kit includes: 4 flat washers (3/8"), 2 square hole spacers (0.250 × 1.00 × 2.50"), 2 serrated flange nuts (1/2"-13 UNC, Grade 8), 2 carriage bolts (1/2"-13 UNC, 1-3/4", Grade 8), and 1 length of 1/2" fishwire. The existing bumper bolts and nuts are reused during installation.
You must remove the bumper brackets that bolt to the bottom of each frame rail and the lower face of the bumper. These brackets and their fasteners should be retained and given to the vehicle owner for re-installation if the receiver is removed later. The bumper itself does not need to be fully removed.
No drilling is required. However, the existing hole for the forward attachment must be enlarged from its current size to 9/16". This is done using a drill bit or hole saw, not by drilling a new hole. The manual also notes that it may be necessary on some models to remove excess length from fuel tank strap bolts.
Fishwire is a flexible wire tool used to route the 1/2" carriage bolts and spacer blocks through the opening in the outside frame for the forward attachment. A 1/2" fishwire is included in the kit. It allows you to guide the bolts through the frame without direct line-of-sight access.
Yes. Remove undercoating from all attaching surfaces before bolting the receiver to the bottom of the frame and lower face of the bumper. This ensures proper contact and fastener security.
Tighten all 1/2" bolts to 110 lb-ft and all 3/8" bolts to 45 lb-ft. The kit includes 1/2" carriage bolts (which use the 110 lb-ft specification) and 3/8" flat washers (which use the 45 lb-ft specification if used as fasteners).
The manual does not provide the gross load capacity or tongue weight specifications for this hitch. Contact Curt Manufacturing or consult the product documentation that came with your hitch for these values. Regardless of the hitch rating, do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify a maintenance interval, so regular visual inspection before each use is recommended.
Curt Manufacturing warrants this product to be free of defects in material and workmanship at the time of retail purchase by the original purchaser. If defective, Curt may repair or replace it at their option when returned prepaid with proof of purchase. Warranty is voided by alteration, misuse, or improper installation.
