Install the center attachment bolt (1/2-13 x 1-3/4"), loosely fastened. 4. Install the rear attachment bolt (1/2-13 x 1-3/4"), loosely fastened. 5. Repeat on the opposite side. 6. Align and install the cross tube assembly with 1/2-13 x 1-1/2" bolts. 7. Drill 1/2" holes in the frame rails and install the mounting strap attachment (vertical) with carriage bolts, loosely fastened. 8. Torque all 1/2-13 fasteners to 110 lb.-ft.
For 1987–1989 vehicles: Use fender washers (taped loosely to the inboard surface of the side plate over the two front mounting holes). For 1990–1991 vehicles: Use 1/2 × 1.50 × 2.00" round hole spacers at the front attachment point instead of fender washers.
The horizontal portion of the mounting strap will be located on the bottom of the frame. In step 7, use the hole in the mounting strap as a guide to drill a 1/2" hole in the bottom of both frame rails, then install the carriage bolt through the 1/2 × 1.50 × 2.00" installation spacer, frame, and mounting strap.
