Yes, CURT part number 13082 is designed for 1988–2000 Chevy/GMC 1500 (Old Style). However, if you have a crew cab, the hitch is only compatible with 1992–2000 model years. Confirm your model year and cab style before purchasing.
No. The CURT 13082 is compatible with crew cab models only from 1992 onwards. Crew cabs manufactured between 1988 and 1991 are not supported by this hitch.
The hitch weight is 60 lbs.
The manual lists two capacity ratings: 6,000 lbs trailer weight and 600 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch, or 10,000 lbs trailer weight and 1,000 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-distribution hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower. Consult your vehicle's owner manual for the final towing limit.
The kit includes: 8× .250 × 1.50 × 2.00" square hole spacers (CM-SP1); 2× 1/2" S-CON washers (30-00149); 2× M12 × 1.75 × 50 mm hex head cap screws, Class 10.9 (10-10458); 4× 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolts, Grade 8 (10-10288); 4× 1/2-13 UNC serrated flange nuts, Grade 8 (20-00062); and 2× M12 × 1.75 hex nuts, Class 10 (20-00136). Installation also uses existing frame holes and either existing weldnuts or M12 nuts with spacers.
No. The CURT 13082 requires no drilling. Installation uses all existing holes in the vehicle frame.
Yes. You must lower the spare tire before installation. After the hitch is mounted, reposition the spare tire slightly forward to clear the hitch. If you have an oversized spare tire, it may need to be relocated further.
If equipped with a factory step bumper, the rear bolt in the bottom of the frame on each side must be removed before installation. Clean away any mud and undercoating present at the mounting area.
Position the receiver against the frame so that the large cut-outs in the hangers clear rivets and cross-member bolts. Then secure the hitch using all existing holes in the vehicle frame. Hole locations may vary on different model years.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb.-ft.
All M12 fasteners must be torqued to 86 lb.-ft.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain safe towing performance.
No. You must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Even though the CURT 13082 has rated capacities, your vehicle's maximum towing limit takes precedence. Consult your vehicle's owner manual for the correct limit.
1988–2000 Chevy/GMC 1500 (Old Style) and 1992–2000 Chevy/GMC 4-door crew cab only.
No drilling required. The hitch uses existing frame holes.
Yes, lower the spare tire before installation and reposition it slightly forward afterward to clear the hitch.
Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb.-ft. and all M12 fasteners to 86 lb.-ft.
The hitch is rated for 6,000 lbs trailer / 600 lbs tongue (weight-carrying) or 10,000 lbs trailer / 1,000 lbs tongue (weight-distribution), but you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Periodically check that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound.
