When used as a weight-carrying hitch, the gross load capacity is 16,000 lbs trailer weight and 2,400 lbs tongue weight. When used as a weight-distribution hitch, the gross load capacity is 17,000 lbs trailer weight and 2,400 lbs tongue weight. However, do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
You will need a ratchet, torque wrench, 3/4" socket, and 7/8" socket. A torque wrench is essential because fasteners must be torqued to specific values: 110 ft-lbs for 1/2" hardware and 130 ft-lbs for 9/16" hardware.

The installation notes state that drilling or hole enlargement may be needed. The hitch aligns with 1 1/8" round holes in the rear of the frame. If your frame holes do not align or are smaller than required, drilling or enlargement will be necessary. Raise the hitch into position and align the rear holes in the side plates with the 1 1/8" round holes in the rear of the frame. On long bed models, the forward-most holes will line up with holes 16" forward of the rear holes in the frame. Ensure alignment is correct before installing hardware.
Install hardware as follows: 9/16" hardware with CM-SP74 spacers (.313 × 1.50 × 3.00") in the vehicle's rearmost mounting locations; CM-SP1 spacers (.250 × 1.50 × 2.00") in the middle holes; and CM-SP6 spacers (.250 × 1.00 × 3.00") in the forward-most holes.
All 1/2" hardware must be torqued to 110 ft-lbs.
