Air Lift adjustable air helper springs level your load, and give your truck, van, or SUV a safer, more comfortable ride. Air springs are easy to install inside the existing coil spring with common mechanic's tools. Just add air when towing or hauling a heavy load, and reduce air pressure when unloaded, they are fully adjustable for a great ride. Air Lift air springs eliminate sag, sway, and bottoming out. They are made with rugged, durable components for long, reliable service. Air Lift 1000 kits fit many popular customer vehicles with coil springs. They're designed to: add support to rear springs on many popular SUVs, replace OEM front air springs on P-30 motor homes, provide front end support for snowplows, winches, etc., improve muscle car traction for drag racing, and improve ride and handling for full-size vans and trucks with front coil springs. Air adjustable with quick connecting, easy-to-use air fittings, Air Lift 1000 air helper springs have a typical max pressure of 35 PSI on cars and SUVs, and 90 PSI on motorhomes. They also have up to 1000 pounds of leveling capacity, right up to the manufacturer's recommended Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. No. The Air Lift 1000 is installed inside the factory coil spring. The flattened air spring is inserted through the lowest opening of the coil spring and expands to its molded shape once inside. The factory coil spring remains in place.
Yes, if your vehicle is equipped with vibration dampers between the turns of the coil spring, they must be removed before installing the air springs. The air spring will replace their function. Some models also have a plastic vibration damper (blue in color) snapped around the coil that must be removed.
Some mid-size GM vehicles have a solid cup located on the lower spring seat that will not allow the air line to exit the coil. If your vehicle has this cup, it must be removed before installing the air spring.
For Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon, Trailblazer, Envoy, Bravada, Avalanche, Hummer H2, Pathfinder, and Escalade, you must trim approximately 1" (25mm) of the rubber isolator at the top of the coil spring to ensure adequate valve stem clearance. This is necessary for proper air spring installation.

First, remove the plastic cap from the barbed stem and exhaust the air from the air spring by rolling it up toward the barbed stem. Replace the cap to hold the flat shape. Insert the flattened air spring into the coil spring through the lowest opening with the stem facing the correct direction for your vehicle. Push the air spring up or down within the coil by hand or with a blunt instrument such as a spoon-type tire iron. When completely within the coil, remove the cap and allow the air spring to assume its molded shape.
The protector always goes on the stem side of the air spring. For 1962 and up GM vehicles and 1966–1990 Ford vehicles, push the air spring to the top of the coil and insert the protector on top of the lower spring seat. For 1991 and up Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, 2000 Suburban, 4DR-4WD Tahoe, Yukon, Trailblazer, Envoy, Bravada, Avalanche, Kia Sorento, Hummer H2, Pathfinder, and Escalade, push the air spring to the bottom of the coil and insert the protector at the top. The protector can be inserted facing either direction.
A single-path air line installation (using the tee fitting) is recommended for vehicles with even weight distribution. If weight in the vehicle varies from side to side and unequal pressures are needed to level the load, use a dual-path installation. For dual-path, eliminate the tee fitting and route separate air lines for both air springs.
Slide the air line clamp onto the air line. Push the air line and clamp over the barbed stem so that the air line covers all the barbs. Compress the ears on the air line clamp with pliers and slide it forward to fully cover the barbs.
Select a location for the Schrader valve that ensures it will be protected and accessible with an air hose. Common locations shown in the manual include inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or the license plate/rear bumper area. Drill a 5/16" (8mm) hole and mount the valve as shown in the manual, with the rubber washer serving as an outside weather seal.
Route the air line along the top of the frame on both sides to, and down through the top spring seats, through an air spring protector to the air springs. Leave sufficient slack to prevent any strain on the fitting during axle motions. Cut the air line to length using a sharp knife.
