Just add air when towing or hauling a heavy load, and reduce air pressure when unloaded, they are fully adjustable for a great ride. Air Lift air springs eliminate sag, sway, and bottoming out. The process involves removing the flange bolt connecting the lower control arm to the knuckle, lowering the floor jack to release tension from the coil spring, and then removing the spring. You may also need to remove the lower shock bolt to allow the lower control arm to move far enough.
The jounce bumper is a factory component mounted on the lower control arm. Yes, you must unbolt and discard both the jounce bumper and its mounting bolt during installation.
Yes. You must drill a 3/4" hole in the lower control arm to provide valve stem clearance. For 2010 and earlier models, the template is placed on the underside of the lower control arm. For 2011 and later models, the template is placed on the top side in the spring seat area. As an option, you can drill a 1/2" hole and grind it open using an air grinder or rotary tool.

Grinding may be required. If interference is noted from the lower control arm hitting the air spring stem or cylinder boss when raising and lowering the control arm, you must grind the control arm for clearance. Additionally, if you choose to drill a 1/2" hole instead of a 3/4" hole, you must grind the hole open using an air grinder or rotary tool.
Insert the air spring cylinder into the coil spring with the stem pointing down. Then reinstall the coil spring and raise the lower control arm enough to insert and attach the flange bolt that connects the lower control arm to the knuckle. Do not tighten the flange bolt at this time.
Torque the flange bolt to 33 lb.-ft. (45 Nm). This is done after raising the control arm far enough to just lift the vehicle off the safety jacks.
A tee air line installation is recommended for most applications. Use dual air lines only if the weight in the vehicle varies significantly from one side to the other and unequal pressures are needed to level the load or compensate for axle torque transfer in racing applications.
Maintain at least 8 inches (203 mm) clearance between the air line and the exhaust system to prevent the air line from melting.
Slide an air line clamp onto the air line. Push the air line over one side of the tee until all the barbs are covered. Using pliers, slide the air line clamp forward until it fully covers the barbed section. Repeat for the other leg of the tee.
Insert the air line through the spring seat and spacers. Push the air line onto the stem, covering all the barbs. Using pliers, slide the air line clamp upward until it fully covers the barbed section.
Select a location for the inflation valve in the gas cap well, the trunk, rear bumper, fender flange, or behind the license plate. Ensure that the valve will be protected and accessible with an air hose. For dual air line systems, valves can be located in the rocker panel flange or rear bumper.
Drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole for the inflation valve. Mount the valve as shown in the manual, with the rubber washer serving as an outside weather seal.
No. Heat shield installation is only necessary on the Honda Odyssey. It is not required for the Honda Pilot or Acura MDX.
Bend the heat shield tabs to provide a 1/2" (13 mm) dead air space between the exhaust pipe and the heat shield. Attach the heat shield to the exhaust pipe using the clamps. Bend the heat shield for maximum clearance to the air spring.
Ensure that the exhaust has at least 2–3 inches (51–76 mm) clearance from the air spring. If necessary, loosen the clamps and rotate or move the exhaust to obtain additional clearance.
Before inflating the air springs, read the Maintenance and Servicing section of the manual. Do not inflate air springs before reading this section.
Inflate the air springs to 35 PSI (2.4 BAR) initially. Test for air leaks by applying a soapy water solution to all valve cores, fittings, and connections.
A 2–4 PSI (0.14–0.28 BAR) loss after initial installation is normal. Recheck air pressure after 24 hours. If pressure has dropped more than 5 PSI (0.34 BAR), retest for leaks.
The minimum air pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). Always maintain at least this minimum pressure to prevent the air spring from being pinched.

When carrying a payload, increase the tire inflation pressure in proportion to any overload condition. Air Lift recommends a 2 PSI (0.14 BAR) increase above normal for each 100 pounds of additional load on the axle. Do not exceed the vehicle manufacturer's maximum gross vehicle weight rating.
No. Adding air springs will not change the weight ratings (GAWR, GCWR, and/or GVWR) of a vehicle. Exceeding the GVWR is dangerous and voids the Air Lift warranty.
Yes. The minimum air pressure (5 PSI) should be maintained at all times. The minimum air pressure keeps the air spring in shape, ensuring that it will move throughout its travel without rubbing or wearing on itself.
No. Air pressure can be adjusted with any type of compressor as long as it can produce sufficient pressure to service the springs. Even a bicycle tire pump can be used, but it requires significant effort.
If the air springs are properly installed and maintained, they can last indefinitely.
No. The vehicle can be lifted on a hoist for short-term service work such as tire rotation or oil changes. However, if the vehicle will be on the hoist for a prolonged period of time, support the axle with jack stands to take the tension off the air springs.
If the vehicle's headlights are shining into the trees or the vehicle is leaning to one side, it is not level. Raise the air pressure to correct either of these problems and level the vehicle.
If the vehicle has a rough or harsh ride, it may be due to either too much pressure or not enough. Try different pressures to determine the best ride comfort.
Stability translates into safety and should be the priority. Stability issues include roll control, bounce, dive during braking, and sponginess. Tuning out these problems usually requires an increase in pressure.
If it is suspected that the air springs have bottomed out, increase the pressure.

Print the manual at 100% scale. Use a measuring tool to confirm that the printed 1" or 1 cm scales (shown in figure 15) measure exactly 1" or 1 cm. If the template is printed at any scale other than 100%, you could end up drilling in the wrong locations on the vehicle.
