No Drill
Air Lift adjustable air helper springs level your load, and give your truck, van, or SUV a safer, more comfortable ride. Air springs are easy to install inside the existing coil spring with common mechanic's tools. Just add air when towing or hauling a heavy load, and reduce air pressure when unloaded, they are fully adjustable for a great ride. Air Lift air springs eliminate sag, sway, and bottoming out. They are made with rugged, durable components for long, reliable service. Air Lift 1000 kits fit many popular customer vehicles with coil springs. They're designed to: add support to rear springs on many popular SUVs, replace OEM front air springs on P-30 motor homes, provide front end support for snowplows, winches, etc., improve muscle car traction for drag racing, and improve ride and handling for full-size vans and trucks with front coil springs. Air adjustable with quick connecting, easy-to-use air fittings, Air Lift 1000 air helper springs have a typical max pressure of 35 PSI on cars and SUVs, and 90 PSI on motorhomes. They also have up to 1000 pounds of leveling capacity, right up to the manufacturer's recommended Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. Air Lift 1000 kits also come standard with a limited lifetime warranty and an exclusive 60 day ride satisfaction guarantee.

Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
Yes, the Air Lift AIR LIFT 1000 81560 (Part #BBCG81560) is designed to fit the 1987-1991 Chevrolet Blazer.
The Air Lift AIR LIFT 1000 81560 (Part #BBCG81560) fits 1987-1991 Chevrolet Blazer models. The 1996 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
The Air Lift AIR LIFT 1000 81560 (Part #BBCG81560) Typical installation time is 1 Hour Or Less. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The Air Lift 1000 is a front suspension air spring kit designed to provide load support for trucks, passenger vans, motorhomes and commercial chassis. It includes two air springs, protectors, air lines with Schrader valves, and all necessary hardware to install an adjustable air suspension system that helps maintain ride height under load.
The kit is designed for trucks, passenger vans, motorhomes and commercial chassis. The manual does not specify which models, cab styles, bed lengths, frame types or years are compatible. Contact Air Lift Company at (800) 248-0892 or www.airliftcompany.com to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.
No. The installation of this kit does not alter the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or payload of the vehicle. You must not exceed the maximum load listed in your vehicle's owner's manual or on the Safety Compliance Certification Label. The air springs provide load support but do not increase the vehicle's weight-carrying capacity.
Required tools are: two hoist or floor jacks, safety stands, safety glasses, a 1 inch to 1.5 inch hole saw cutter, locking pliers, a 9/16 inch ratchet, a drill, an air compressor or compressed air source, a spray bottle with dish soap and water solution, and string. Grease is also needed.
The kit includes: two air springs (part 48171), four upper and lower protectors (part 09333), two air line clips (part 10551), four zip ties (part 10466), two valve caps (part 21230), two air line assemblies (part 20081), four 5/16 inch hex nuts (part 21233), two rubber washers (part 21234), two star washers (part 18411), two M8 flat washers (part 18501), and two 3/8 inch lock nuts (part 18422).
Set the brake and block the wheels. Jack up the front of the vehicle and place safety stands under the frame to allow the suspension to be fully extended. If replacing factory black OEM air springs, deflate them by removing the valve cores using a tooled valve cap or knife, then use a 1 inch to 1.5 inch hole saw cutter to cut out the valve and remove the old air spring using locking pliers and a twisting motion. Spraying with soapy water solution may ease removal. Remove the upper protector through the side of the coil.
Remove the black valve cap and roll the air spring up toward the stem end to exhaust as much air as possible. Install the black valve cap to maintain this compressed shape. Then unroll the air spring and fold it lengthwise. Use string to hold it in this position if necessary. Some discoloration of the cylinder in the rolled-up condition is normal and does not indicate damage.
Check the hole in the lower control arm and deburr or smooth any sharp edges to prevent damage to the air spring. Insert the air spring through the hole in the lower control arm with the valve stem facing down. Spraying with soapy water solution may ease installation. Push the air spring up with a twisting action into the coil, leaving about 2 inches (51 mm) extended out of the bottom of the coil.
Before pushing the air spring completely into the coil, insert and position the upper protector (part 09333) on the stud on the top of the air spring. A light coating of grease on the top side will help hold it in place. Once the air spring is in place, insert and position the lower protector by pushing the air spring up and sliding the protector under the air spring.
Yes. You must drill a 5/16 inch (8 mm) hole to mount each Schrader valve. Choose the locations for the Schrader valves and drill the hole if necessary. The manual does not specify the exact mounting location but indicates the valve should be accessible and the air line should route toward the center of the vehicle.
Lower the air spring, guiding the valve stem through the hole in the lower protector. Attach the elbow fitting on the air line (part 20081) to the valve stem. Orient the elbow and air line to line up with the existing sway bar attaching bolts. Finger tighten the elbow nut only at this stage.
Place the supplied clip (part 10551) around the air line. Attach the clip to the existing sway bar attaching bolt using the provided 3/8 inch lock nut (part 18422). Tighten the 3/8 inch lock nut using a 9/16 inch ratchet.
Route the air line up the lower control arm toward the center of the vehicle. The air line must go over the top of the control arm and along the support frame. Then route the air line through the frame to the selected valve stem mounting location. Secure the air line with zip ties (part 10466), away from brake lines and battery.
Install the Schrader valve in the chosen location using the supplied hardware: hex nuts, flat washer, star washer, and rubber washer through the 5/16 inch hole drilled in the vehicle body or bumper. The nylon air line connects to the Schrader valve.
For motorhomes and commercial chassis: minimum 40 PSI (2.8 BAR), maximum 90 PSI (6.2 BAR). For trucks and passenger vans: minimum 10 PSI (0.7 BAR), maximum 50 PSI (3.5 BAR). Always maintain normal ride height and never inflate beyond the maximum pressure for your vehicle type.
Keep at least 6 inches (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. Avoid sharp bends and edges. The minimum bend radius for the air line is 1 inch (25 mm). Leave at least 2 inches (50 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for any movement that might pull on the air line.
Perform a clearance test by inflating air springs to 40-60 PSI and checking for at least 1/2 inch (13 mm) clearance from tires, brakes, frame, shock absorbers and brake cables. Perform a leak test by inflating to 40-60 PSI and checking all connections for leaks. Perform a heat test ensuring at least 6 inches (152 mm) clearance from heat sources. Perform a fastener test by rechecking all bolts for proper torque. Then road test the vehicle at 10 miles (16 km) and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners and air leaks.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height. If the system develops an air leak, use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core before deflating and removing the air spring.
Failure to maintain correct minimum pressure, bottoming out, over-extension or rubbing against another component will void the warranty. For safety and to prevent possible damage to the vehicle, do not exceed the maximum Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or payload rating as indicated by the vehicle manufacturer. Do not exceed 90 PSI (6.2 BAR) for motorhomes and commercial chassis or 50 PSI (3.5 BAR) for trucks and passenger vans.
Compressed air can cause injury and damage to the vehicle and components if it is not handled properly. Do not try to inflate the air springs until they have been properly secured to the vehicle.
Air Lift Company provides a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser that the products will be free from defects in workmanship and materials when used on cars and trucks as specified by Air Lift Company and under normal operating conditions. The full Limited Warranty and Return Policy is available at www.airliftcompany.com/warranty. Register your warranty online at www.airliftcompany.com/warrantyreg.htm.
The kit is designed for trucks, passenger vans, motorhomes and commercial chassis. Contact Air Lift at (800) 248-0892 or www.airliftcompany.com to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle model.
You need two jacks, safety stands, a 1-1.5 inch hole saw, locking pliers, a 9/16 inch ratchet, a drill, an air compressor, and a spray bottle with soapy water. Safety glasses and grease are also required.
Yes. You must drill a 5/16 inch hole for each Schrader valve. If replacing factory air springs, you will also use a 1-1.5 inch hole saw to remove the old valve.
The manual specifies using a 9/16 inch ratchet to tighten the 3/8 inch lock nut (part 18422) that secures the air line clip to the sway bar attaching bolt, but does not provide a specific torque value. Tighten until snug.
Maximum 90 PSI (6.2 BAR) for motorhomes and commercial chassis; maximum 50 PSI (3.5 BAR) for trucks and passenger vans. Never exceed these limits.
Keep at least 6 inches (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. The minimum bend radius for air lines is 1 inch (25 mm).
Perform a clearance test (1/2 inch minimum from tires, brakes, frame, shocks, cables), leak test (inflate to 40-60 PSI), heat test (6 inches from heat sources), fastener test (recheck bolt torque), and a 10-mile road test with final checks.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height and never exceed the maximum pressure for your vehicle type.
Use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core. Spray the solution on suspected leak areas; bubbles will form at any leak location. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested.
Discoloration of the cylinder in the rolled-up condition is normal and does not harm or indicate damage to the cylinder. The discoloration reflects the natural color of the polyurethane material before the red pigment is added. This is expected and requires no action.
Check the hole in the lower control arm and deburr or smooth any sharp edges that could damage the air spring or impede insertion. Spray the air spring with a soapy water solution to ease installation. Use a twisting action while pushing the air spring up into the coil.
