The Air Lift LOADLIFTER 5000. 57286 (Part #BBCG57286) fits 2001-2010 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 models. The 2010 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
The Air Lift LOADLIFTER 5000. 57286 (Part #BBCG57286) fits the following vehicles: 2001-2010 Chevrolet Silverado 3500; 2001-2006 GMC Sierra 3500. Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
Yes, the Air Lift LOADLIFTER 5000. 57286 (Part #BBCG57286) is designed to fit the 2001-2010 Chevrolet Silverado 3500.
The Air Lift LOADLIFTER 5000. 57286 (Part #BBCG57286) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Kit 57286 is designed for 2001 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 3500 Commercial Cab and Chassis models with rear application. Confirm your vehicle is a Commercial Cab and Chassis configuration before purchasing, as this kit is specific to that body style.
The LoadLifter 5000 provides up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg) of load-leveling support. The air springs are adjustable from 5 to 100 PSI (0.34 to 7 BAR), but the actual pressure needed depends on your load and vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating.
Required tools include: safety glasses, hoist or floor jack, safety stands, standard and metric sockets and wrenches, air compressor or compressed air source, spray bottle with dish soap/water solution, hose cutter or razor blade, and a drill with 5/16" drill bit. Do not use scissors or wire cutters to cut air lines.
Yes. You must remove the jounce bumpers from the frame that are above the axle as part of the Getting Started procedure. The upper bracket will then use the existing jounce bumper mounting holes to attach to the frame.
1. Set the roll plates (D) on both sides of the air spring (A) with the rounded edge toward the air spring. 2. Install the 90-degree swivel elbow fitting (R) to the top of the air spring and tighten finger tight plus 1½ turns—tighten only on the hex nut and do not over-tighten. 3. Install the upper bracket using two 3/8" bolts (H), lock washers (I), and flat washers (J), leaving bolts loose. On the driver's side, attach the emergency brake cable bracket (F) to the forward bolt. 4. Insert two 3/8" carriage bolts (M) into the lower bracket (B) on the opposite end from the tabs, then attach the lower bracket to the air spring using two 3/8" flat-head screws (G) tightened securely, with carriage bolts on the same side as the fitting.
The upper bracket mounting bolts (N) should be tightened to 31 lb.-ft. (42 Nm) after the air spring is aligned perpendicular to both brackets.
After the lower bracket is secured and the upper bracket is positioned under the frame, align the air spring by moving the upper bracket inward or outward and moving the air spring forward and back so that the air spring is perpendicular to both brackets. Then tighten the upper bracket mounting bolts to 31 lb.-ft. (42 Nm). Raise the suspension back to stock ride height and verify the air spring is still aligned.
Install a clip (K) to the emergency brake cable and attach it to the emergency brake cable mounting bracket (F) using a 5/16" hex cap screw (L), two flat washers (O), and a nylon lock nut (Q). Position the cable on the air spring side of the mounting hardware to prevent rubbing.
1. Cut the air line in half using a razor blade or hose cutter, making clean, square cuts—do not use scissors or wire cutters. 2. Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis without pinching or kinking it. Leave at least 2" of slack to allow for suspension movement. The minimum bend radius is 1" (25 mm). 3. Keep at least 6" clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. 4. Install the Schrader valve in your chosen location (inside fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or license plate/rear bumper area), drilling a 5/16" hole if necessary.
The Schrader valves can be installed in one of three locations: (A) inside the fuel tank filler door, (B) inside rear wheel wells, or (C) license plate or rear bumper area. Choose locations that provide convenient access for inflation and pressure checking.
A heat shield (part Z) is included in the kit. Attach the metal heat shield to the exhaust where it is closest to the passenger's (right) side air spring. Slide the air line thermal sleeve over the air line and position it where the air line is closest to the exhaust. Maintain at least 1/2" (13 mm) dead air space between the shield and exhaust. If a heat shield is not included but is required, contact Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
The maximum inflation pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). However, the actual pressure needed depends on your load and the vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating. Never exceed 100 PSI, and always maintain normal ride height. Do not exceed the vehicle's maximum GVWR or payload rating.
The minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). This is the lowest pressure at which the system should operate.
Perform the following checks in order: (1) Clearance test—inflate to 40-60 PSI and verify at least 1/2" clearance from tires, brakes, frame, shock absorbers and brake cables. (2) Leak test—inflate to 40-60 PSI and check all connections for leaks using soapy water solution; eliminate all leaks before road testing. (3) Heat test—verify at least 6" clearance from heat sources and ensure heat shield is installed if included. (4) Fastener test—recheck all bolts for proper torque. (5) Road test—drive 10 miles and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners and air leaks.
Check air pressure weekly to ensure proper system operation and load support.
Use a spray bottle with a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core. Apply the solution to all connections and look for bubbles, which indicate a leak. If leaks are found, they must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested. If you cannot locate or fix the leak, deflate and remove the air spring and contact Air Lift customer service.
Use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core for leaks. Apply the solution and look for bubbles. If leaks are found, repair the connections. If the leak persists or cannot be located, deflate and remove the air spring before attempting further diagnosis.
Kit 57286 fits 2001 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 3500 Commercial Cab and Chassis models with rear application only. Confirm your vehicle matches this specification.
