Yes, the Air Lift LOADLIFTER 5000. 57250 (Part #BBCG57250) is designed to fit the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 HD.
The Air Lift LOADLIFTER 5000. 57250 (Part #BBCG57250) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes. The LoadLifter 5000 kit is designed for 2001-2005 Chevy Silverado 1500HD trucks. Kit 57250 includes air springs with jounce bumpers and black painted roll plates. Kit 88250 includes air springs without jounce bumpers and zinc-plated silver roll plates. Both kits fit the same vehicles; the difference is in the air spring design and hardware finish.
The manual specifies compatibility for 2001-2008 GMC Sierra 1500HD, so yes, a 2008 model should be compatible. However, before installation, check with your GMC dealer whether your vehicle is equipped with a rear brake proportioning valve, as this could affect brake performance. If your vehicle has no rear brake proportioning valve or has an anti-lock brake system, installation will have no effect on brake system performance.
Yes. The kit is designed for 1999-2004 Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra 2500 3/4 Ton Pickup trucks. Before installation, verify with your dealer whether your vehicle has a rear brake proportioning valve, as this could affect brake performance.
The LoadLifter 5000 provides up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg) of load-leveling support. The air springs are adjustable from 5 to 100 PSI (0.34 to 7 BAR). The actual air pressure needed depends on the load and your vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). Never exceed 100 PSI or your vehicle's GVWR or payload rating.
Required tools include: jack or hoist, 2 safety stands, safety glasses, air compressor or compressed air source, spray bottle with soapy water, 9/16" open-end box wrenches, adjustable wrench, ratchet with 15mm, 7/16", 9/16", and 1/2" deep well sockets, 3/8" and 5/16" drill bits (very sharp), heavy duty drill, torque wrench, hose cutter or razor blade, and 3/4" wrench.

Kit 57250 includes air springs with jounce bumpers and 4 black painted roll plates. Kit 88250 includes air springs without jounce bumpers and 4 zinc-plated silver roll plates. Both kits fit the same vehicles and include the same brackets, fasteners, and air line components. The choice between them depends on whether your vehicle already has jounce bumpers and your preference for hardware finish.
Normal Ride Height is the distance between the bottom edge of the wheel-well and the center of the hub with the vehicle in its "as-delivered" condition. Remove any unusual loads and examine the vehicle from the side on a level surface. If leaf springs are sagging badly, use a jack to raise the rear end to the original "as-delivered" ride height. Measure the distance between the center of the hub and the bottom edge of the wheel well and record this measurement.
1. Set a roll plate (B) on both ends of the air spring (A) with the radiused (rounded) edge toward the air spring so it is seated in both roll plates. 2. Attach the upper brackets (C) to the air springs with two 3/8-24x7/8" hex head bolts (I), lock washers (S), and flat washers (M), leaving them loose at this time. Use the correct holes for driver's (left) or passenger's (right) side mounting as shown in the diagram. 3. For the driver's side only, insert the 5/16" clinch bolt (K) into the small hole of the lower bracket (F) using a hammer. 4. Attach the lower bracket (F) to the air spring (A) with two 3/8-24x7/8" hex head bolts (I), lock washers (S), and flat washers (M). 5. Torque to 20 lb.-ft. (27.1 Nm).
Yes. Using a 15mm socket, remove the jounce bumper from the frame rail. The style of jounce bumper varies depending on the truck model. On some models, the jounce bumper may be attached to the frame with a bracket; remove the entire jounce bumper bracket and the jounce bumper from the frame rail.
1. Set the assembly on the axle with the air port on top of the air spring toward the inside of the frame rail. 2. Set the whiz nut (O) up inside the upper bracket with flange up. 3. Hold in place with an open-end 9/16" wrench. 4. Put 3/8"x7/8" hex head bolts (I) with flat washers (M) down through the existing jounce bumper hole from the inside of the frame and attach to the whiz nuts, leaving loose for adjustment later. 5. Secure the lower bracket to the jounce bumper strike pad using the retaining bracket (E), 3/8"x2" hex head bolt (J), flat washers (M), and 3/8" lock nut (L). 6. The short leg of the retaining bracket must be under the edge of the jounce bumper strike pad. 7. Tighten evenly front to back to keep the lower bracket flat and centered. 8. Center the upper bracket so bolts are in the center of the slots. 9. Adjust the air spring so it is perpendicular to both upper and lower brackets. 10. Tighten both air springs to top bracket mounting bolts. 11. Tighten bracket to frame mounting hardware.
Install the 90-degree swivel air fitting (T) into the top of the air spring (A). The fitting is pre-coated with sealant. Finger-tight plus two full turns with a 7/16" open-end wrench will seal the fitting. Be careful to tighten on the metal hex nut only. Do not overtighten.
Slide the provided clip (P) onto the rubber-coated brake line. Secure the clip to the clinch bolt already installed on the lower bracket (F) with a flat washer (M) and 5/16" lock nut (N). Be sure the clip is under the lower bracket.
1. Choose locations for the Schrader valves and drill a 5/16" (8mm) hole if necessary. Recommended locations are inside the rear wheel wells, inside the fuel tank filler door, or in the license plate/rear bumper area. 2. Route the nylon air line along the top of the frame, forward of the axle, then down to the fitting. 3. Install the air line thermal sleeve over the air line on the passenger's (right) side before inserting into the fitting. 4. Cut the air line in half with clean, square cuts using a razor blade or hose cutter—do not use scissors or wire cutters. 5. Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis. Do not pinch or kink the air line. The minimum bend radius is 1" (25mm). Leave at least 2" (50mm) of slack in the air line to allow for movement. 6. Keep at least 6" (150mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. Avoid sharp bends and edges. 7. Install the Schrader valve in the chosen location.
Attach the metal heat shield to the exhaust where it is closest to the air spring. Slide the air line thermal sleeve over the air line and place it where the air line is closest to the exhaust. Maintain at least 1/2" (13mm) of dead air space between the shield and the exhaust. Bend the tabs as needed and double the hose clamps if necessary.
The lower bracket must be torqued to 20 lb.-ft. (27.1 Nm) when attaching it to the air spring using the 3/8-24x7/8" hex head bolts (I), lock washers (S), and flat washers (M).
The 90-degree swivel air fitting should be tightened finger-tight plus two full turns with a 7/16" open-end wrench. Do not overtighten. The fitting is pre-coated with sealant, so this torque is sufficient to seal it properly.
The LoadLifter 5000 air springs are adjustable from a minimum of 5 PSI (0.34 BAR) to a maximum of 100 PSI (7 BAR). The actual air pressure needed depends on your load and your vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). Always maintain normal ride height and never inflate beyond 100 PSI. Do not exceed your vehicle's GVWR or payload rating.
No. Do not try to inflate the air springs until they have been properly secured to the vehicle. Compressed air can cause injury and damage to the vehicle and parts if it is not handled properly.
After installation, inflate the air springs to 40-60 PSI (2.8-4.1 BAR) and check for at least 1/2" (13mm) clearance from anything that might rub against each sleeve. Be sure to check the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. Also verify at least 6" (152mm) clearance from heat sources such as the exhaust system.
Keep at least 6" (150mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. Avoid sharp bends and edges. If a heat shield is included in the kit, install it. If there is no heat shield but one is required, contact Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
1. Clearance test: Inflate to 40-60 PSI and check for at least 1/2" clearance from tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. 2. Leak test: Inflate to 40-60 PSI and check all connections for leaks before road testing. 3. Heat test: Verify at least 6" clearance from heat sources; install heat shield if included. 4. Fastener test: After 500 miles, recheck all bolts for proper torque. 5. Road test: Drive 10 miles and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners, and air leaks.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height. Never inflate beyond 100 PSI (7 BAR).
Use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core. If you find a leak, identify and repair it before deflating and removing the air spring. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested.
After 500 miles (800 km), recheck all bolts for proper torque. The lower bracket mounting bolts should be torqued to 20 lb.-ft. (27.1 Nm).
Air Lift Company provides a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser that the products will be free from defects in workmanship and materials when used on cars and trucks as specified by Air Lift Company and under normal operating conditions. The full Limited Warranty and Return Policy is available at www.airliftcompany.com/warranty. Failure to maintain correct minimum pressure, bottoming out, overextension, or rubbing against another component will void the warranty.
Yes, if you have a 2001-2005 Chevy Silverado 1500HD, 2001-2008 GMC Sierra 1500HD, or 1999-2004 Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra 2500 3/4 Ton Pickup. Before installation, check with your dealer if your vehicle has a rear brake proportioning valve, as this could affect brake performance.
You need a jack or hoist, safety stands, air compressor, heavy duty drill with 3/8" and 5/16" bits, torque wrench, 9/16" open-end wrenches, ratchet with 15mm/7/16"/9/16"/1/2" sockets, hose cutter or razor blade, and spray bottle with soapy water.
Yes. You must drill a 5/16" (8mm) hole for the Schrader valve location. Recommended locations are inside the rear wheel wells, inside the fuel tank filler door, or in the license plate/rear bumper area.
Torque the lower bracket to the air spring to 20 lb.-ft. (27.1 Nm) using 3/8-24x7/8" hex head bolts. The swivel air fitting should be tightened finger-tight plus two full turns with a 7/16" wrench—do not overtighten.
Never exceed 100 PSI (7 BAR). The minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). Actual pressure needed depends on load and your vehicle's GVWR. Do not exceed your vehicle's GVWR or payload rating.
Inflate to 40-60 PSI and check for leaks at all connections. Verify at least 1/2" clearance from tires, brakes, frame, and shock absorbers. Ensure 6" clearance from exhaust. After 500 miles, recheck all bolt torque.
Check air pressure weekly. Maintain normal ride height. Never exceed 100 PSI. If an air leak develops, use soapy water to locate it and repair before deflating. After 500 miles, recheck all bolt torque.
Use a spray bottle with a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core. Bubbles will form at any leak location. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested. If you find a leak, repair it before deflating and removing the air spring.
After inflating the air springs to 40-60 PSI, check for at least 1/2" (13mm) clearance from anything that might rub against each sleeve, including the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. If rubbing is detected, adjust the position of the air spring assembly or brackets to increase clearance. Rubbing against another component will void the warranty.
Keep at least 6" (150mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. If the air line is too close to the exhaust, reroute it along the top of the frame, forward of the axle, then down to the fitting. Install the air line thermal sleeve over the air line where it is closest to the exhaust. If a heat shield is included in the kit, attach it to the exhaust where it is closest to the air spring, maintaining at least 1/2" (13mm) of dead air space between the shield and the exhaust.
