The two kits differ in the air spring component and roll plate finish. Kit 57331 uses air spring part number 58494 with zinc-plated steel roll plates (standard LoadLifter 5000). Kit 88331 uses air spring part number 58439 with black powder-coated roll plates (LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate). All other hardware is the same. You can identify which kit you have by examining the roll plates: silver zinc-plated indicates kit 57331, and black powder-coated indicates kit 88331.
Required tools include: standard and metric open-end or boxed wrenches (set), standard and metric regular and deep-well sockets (set), ratchet, torque wrench, 7/32 inch hex-key wrench (socket preferable), large screwdriver or equivalent, hose cutter, razor blade, or sharp knife, hoist or floor jack, 2 safety stands, safety glasses, air compressor or compressed air source, and spray bottle with dish soap/water solution.

The installation sequence is: 1) Prepare the vehicle (lift, support with safety stands, remove wheels, remove jounce bumper and mounting cup, pry brake line holders for clearance). 2) Install upper brackets (set frame U-bolts, install upper brackets with M8 bolts and serrated flange nuts, adjust wiring harness if needed). 3) Assemble air springs (place roll plates on air springs, install swivel elbow fittings, flip and install lower brackets, flip again and loosely install hex flange bolts). 4) Install air spring assemblies (drop axle, set assemblies on leaf spring, raise axle to seat against upper bracket, install leaf spring U-bolts, torque lower and upper mounting hardware). 5) Install air lines (drill Schrader valve hole, cut air line, route and secure with P-clamp and zip ties, install Schrader valve). 6) Finish (raise axle, remove safety stands, install wheels, torque lug nuts).
1) Set the frame U-bolts (part K) over the frame, forward and rearward of the axle, on both driver's (left) and passenger's (right) sides. 2) Using a long socket, insert the M8 hex flange bolt (part M) through the passenger's (right) side upper bracket (part B). Position the upper bracket under the jounce bumper bracket while inserting the U-bolts through the mounting holes. 3) Install the M8 bolt into the jounce bumper mounting hole and tighten finger tight. Tighten the U-bolts finger tight using 3/8 inch-16 serrated flange nuts (part N). 4) Torque the M8 hex flange bolt first to 15 lb.-ft. (11 Nm), then tighten the 3/8 inch-16 serrated flange nuts evenly to 15 lb.-ft. (11 Nm). 5) Repeat for the driver's (left) side. Caution: Do not pinch any brake or stock wiring harness components between the U-bolt and frame.
1) Place the roll plates (part D) on the air springs (part E). Install the swivel elbow air fittings (part F) onto the air springs and tighten finger tight plus 1½ turns. 2) Flip both air springs over so the fitting is down. Install the lower brackets (part A) so that the 'window' on the bracket is on the same side as the fitting. Attach with 3/8 inch-24 x 3/4 inch flat-head screws (part G) and torque to no more than 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). Use caution when flipping to avoid damaging the fittings. 3) Flip both assemblies so the lower bracket is down. Loosely install the 3/8 inch-24 x 5/8 inch hex flange bolts (part H) in the top mounting holes. These bolts must stay loose for installation. Point the fittings inward toward the center of the air spring.
1) Drop the axle down low enough to place the assemblies onto the leaf spring. Set the assemblies into position, ensuring the fitting is on the tire (not frame) side of the vehicle and pointing inward toward the center. 2) Raise the axle until the hex flange bolts and fittings index into the large opening of the 'keyhole' mounting holes in the upper brackets. Raise the axle far enough to seat the upper spring assembly against the upper bracket. 3) Push the lower bracket/air spring assembly inward far enough to install the leaf spring U-bolts (part J) through the holes in the lower bracket. Install the U-bolts and loosely thread the 3/8 inch serrated flange nuts (part N) over them. Raise the axle all the way up and adjust the lower bracket forward or backward to align the air spring. Evenly torque the lower mounting hardware to 15 lb.-ft. (11 Nm). 4) Adjust the upper mounting bracket in and out to align the air spring and evenly tighten the upper flange bolts with a 9/16 inch boxed-end wrench until secure. Do not overtighten. 5) Rotate the fittings so they face outward for hose installation and routing.
1) Choose locations for the Schrader valves (inside fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or license plate/rear bumper area) and drill a 5/16 inch (8 mm) hole if necessary. 2) Cut the air line in half using a razor blade or hose cutter, making clean, square cuts. Do not pinch or kink the air line. The minimum bend radius is 1 inch (25 mm). Leave at least 2 inches (50 mm) of slack to allow for movement. 6) Install the Schrader valve in the chosen location. Keep at least 6 inches (150 mm) clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system.
Torque specifications are: M8 hex flange bolt (part M) at upper bracket: 15 lb.-ft. (11 Nm). 3/8 inch-16 serrated flange nuts (part N) at upper bracket: 15 lb.-ft. (11 Nm). 3/8 inch-24 x 3/4 inch flat-head screws (part G) at lower bracket: no more than 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). Lower mounting hardware (leaf spring U-bolts and serrated flange nuts): 15 lb.-ft. (11 Nm). Upper flange bolts (part H): tighten until secure, do not overtighten. Wheel lug nuts: 100 lb.-ft. (135 Nm) in a criss-cross pattern.
On some models, it may be necessary to move the wiring harness inside the passenger's (right) side frame, forward of the axle, away from the corner of the upper bracket. Pull the Christmas tree hanger away from the frame and bracket, then zip tie the harness to the crossmember above the axle. The manual notes that Fig. 10 shows an acceptable installation with no further modification needed unless interference is more direct. The maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). Never inflate beyond this pressure. Although the air springs are rated at a maximum inflation pressure of 100 PSI (7 BAR), the air pressure actually needed is dependent on load and gross vehicle weight rating. Always maintain normal ride height and do not exceed the vehicle's maximum gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or payload rating as indicated by the vehicle manufacturer.
