Each kit includes 2 air sleeves, 2 upper brackets, 2 lower brackets, 2 air fittings, 2 jam nuts (3/4"-16), 2 taper head bolts (1/2" × 7/8"), 2 U-bolts (3/8"), 4 flat washers (3/8"), 4 nyloc nuts (3/8"-16), 2 clamp bars, and 4 M10-1.5 bolts. The kit also includes air line assembly, inflation valves, and plastic tie straps for routing.
Air Lift recommends checking with your vehicle dealer before installing this load assist product if your vehicle has a rear brake proportioning valve, as it could affect brake performance. If your vehicle does not have a rear brake proportioning valve, or is equipped with an anti-lock brake system, installation will have no effect on brake system performance.
Required tools include: metric 9/16" open-end or box wrenches, crescent wrench, ratchet with 9/16" and metric deep well sockets, very sharp 5/16" drill bits, heavy-duty drill, torque wrench, hose cutter (or razor blade or sharp knife), hoist or floor jacks, safety stands, safety glasses, and air compressor or compressed air source. A spray bottle with dish soap and water solution is also needed for leak testing.

Yes. You must drill a 5/16" hole to install the inflation valves. The manual recommends popular locations such as wheel well flanges, the license plate recess in the bumper, under the gas cap access door, or through the license plate itself. Ensure there is enough clearance around the inflation valves for an air chuck.
Use a hose cutter (Air Lift P/N 10530), a razor blade, or a sharp knife to make a clean, square cut. Do not use wire cutters or scissors, as these tools may flatten or crimp the air line, causing it to leak around the O-ring seal inside the elbow fitting.
The 90° air fitting (D) should be tightened finger tight plus 1 and 1/2 turns. The nylon jam nut (E) securing the upper bracket to the air spring should be tightened to 4 ft-lbs.
Tighten jounce bumper bolts to 37 ft-lbs.
Tighten U-bolt lock nuts to 16 ft-lbs.
Tighten 3/8" frame bolts to 16 ft-lbs.
1. Insert the air fitting through the large hole in the upper bracket (B) and secure with the nylon jam nut (E), tightened to 4 ft-lbs. 2. Install the 90° air fitting (D) to the top of the air spring (A), tightened finger tight plus 1 and 1/2 turns. 3. Attach the lower bracket to the bottom of the spring using a taper head bolt (G), tightened securely.
1. Remove the two bolts securing the jounce bumper and discard them. 2. Remove the jounce bumper and set it on the bracket. 3. Attach the assembly to the frame using the supplied bolts, adjusting by pulling the slotted bracket towards you. 4. Tighten jounce bumper bolts to 37 ft-lbs. 5. Repeat for the opposite side of the vehicle. Note: The jounce bumper on your vehicle may differ from the one shown in the manual.
1. Remove and reverse the lower shock bolts so they are inserted from the outside in. 2. Set the tab of the bracket over the spring perch to lock the assembly in place. 3. Slide the U-bolt over both the retainer and the lower bracket. 4. Attach using the clamp bar, two flat washers, and nyloc nuts. 5. Tighten all hardware securely.
1. Drill a 5/16" hole in a convenient location (wheel well flange, license plate recess, under gas cap, or through license plate). 2. Place a 5/16" nut and star washer on the valve, leaving approximately 1/2" of valve exposed for the air chuck. 3. Push the valve through the hole and secure with rubber washer, flat washer, and another 5/16" nut. 4. Route the air line along the frame, maintaining at least 6" clearance from heat sources (exhaust, muffler, catalytic converter). 5. Secure the line with plastic tie straps to fixed points, leaving at least 2" of slack. 6. Cut the air line leaving approximately 12" extra and insert into the air fitting until it bottoms out (9/16" should be in the fitting).
Keep at least 6" of clearance between the air line and heat sources such as exhaust pipes, muffler, or catalytic converter. Avoid sharp bends and edges.
Insert the air line into the push-to-connect fitting until it bottoms out. Approximately 9/16" of air line should be in the fitting.
Do not try to inflate the air springs until they have been properly secured to the vehicle. Compressed air can cause injury and damage to the vehicle and parts if not handled properly.
1. Inflate the air spring to 30 p.s.i. 2. Spray all connections and inflation valves with a solution of 1/5 liquid dish soap and 4/5 water. 3. Look for bubbles in the soapy water to identify leaks. 4. After testing, deflate the springs to the minimum pressure required to restore normal ride height, but not less than 5 p.s.i. 5. Check air pressure again after 24 hours; a 2 to 4 p.s.i. loss is normal. If loss exceeds 5 p.s.i., retest for leaks.
Inflate the air springs to 60 p.s.i. and ensure there is at least 1/2" clearance around each sleeve from anything that might rub against them. Check the tire, brake drum, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. After a 10-mile road test at 25 p.s.i. (or 50 p.s.i. if loaded), recheck for clearance, loose fasteners, and air leaks.
Ensure at least 6" clearance between air springs and air lines from heat sources such as exhaust pipes, muffler, or catalytic converter. If a heat shield was included in the kit, install it. If no heat shield is included but one is required, call Air Lift at 1-800-248-0892.
Minimum air pressure is 5 p.s.i. Maximum air pressure is 100 p.s.i. Always maintain normal ride height. Never inflate beyond 100 p.s.i. The actual pressure needed depends on your load and vehicle GVWR, which may be less than 100 p.s.i.
Check the air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height by adjusting pressure as necessary. When increasing load, adjust air pressure to maintain normal ride height for optimal ride and handling.
Use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core before deflating and removing the air spring. See the Fixing Leaks section for detailed repair procedures. If the leak is at the swivel fitting, check the air line connection or tighten the fitting another 1/2 turn. If at the inflation valve, check the valve core or air line connection. If these steps do not resolve the problem, call Air Lift Technical Service at 1-800-248-0892.
After 30 days or 500 miles, whichever comes first, recheck the air spring system. If any part shows signs of rubbing or abrasion, identify and move the source if possible. If relocation is not possible, the air spring may need to be remounted. Check all fasteners for tightness. If professionally installed, consult the installer.
Do not exceed the maximum GVWR as indicated by the vehicle manufacturer. Although air springs are rated at a maximum inflation pressure of 100 p.s.i., the actual pressure needed depends on your load and GVWR, which may be less than 100 p.s.i. Check your vehicle owner's manual and do not exceed the maximum load listed for your vehicle. Exceeding GVWR may void the warranty.
If it becomes necessary to raise the vehicle by the frame, make sure the system is at minimum pressure (5 p.s.i.) to reduce tension on the suspension and brake components. Use of on-board leveling systems does not require deflation or disconnection.
1. Check the air line connection by deflating the spring and removing the line by pulling the collar against the fitting and pulling firmly on the air line. Trim 1" off the end of the air line, ensuring the cut is clean and square. Reinsert the air line into the push-to-connect fitting. 2. If still leaking, check the threaded connection by tightening the swivel fitting another 1/2 turn. If it still leaks, deflate the air spring, remove the fitting, re-coat the threads with thread sealant, and reinstall by hand tightening as much as possible, then use a wrench for an additional two turns.
1. Check the valve core by tightening it with a valve core tool. 2. Check the air line connection by removing the air line from the barbed fitting. Do not cut it off, as this will nick the barb and render the fitting useless. Cut the air line a few inches in front of the fitting and use pliers or vise-grips to pull or twist the air line off the fitting. 3. If the problem persists, call Air Lift Technical Service at 1-800-248-0892.
Common causes include: leaks at air line connections or the threaded connection of the elbow into the air spring; leaks at the inflation valve or dirt/debris in the valve core; pinched air lines (tie straps too tight); holes or cracks in the air lines; kinks or folds in the air lines. A 2 to 4 p.s.i. loss after initial installation is normal. If loss exceeds 5 p.s.i. after 24 hours, retest for leaks. If all these conditions are checked and the problem persists, the air spring may have failed.
Check with your vehicle dealer if you have a rear brake proportioning valve, as the kit could affect brake performance. If you have no proportioning valve or have an anti-lock brake system, the kit will not affect brakes.
You need: metric 9/16" wrenches, ratchet with sockets, very sharp 5/16" drill bits, heavy-duty drill, torque wrench, hose cutter or sharp knife, hoist or floor jacks, safety stands, safety glasses, and air compressor.
Jounce bumper bolts: 37 ft-lbs. Upper bracket jam nut: 4 ft-lbs. U-bolt lock nuts and 3/8" frame bolts: 16 ft-lbs each. Air fitting: finger tight plus 1.5 turns.
Maximum is 100 p.s.i. Minimum is 5 p.s.i. Never inflate beyond 100 p.s.i., and always maintain normal ride height. Actual pressure needed depends on load and vehicle GVWR.
Inflate to 60 p.s.i. and check 1/2" clearance around sleeves from tires, brake drums, frame, shocks, and cables. Check all connections for leaks with soapy water. Verify 6" clearance from heat sources. Recheck all bolt torque. Then road test at 25 p.s.i. (50 p.s.i. if loaded) for 10 miles.
