Yes, the Air Lift RIDE CONTROL KIT 59530 (Part #BBCG59530) is designed to fit the 2000-2006 Toyota Tundra.
The Air Lift RIDE CONTROL KIT 59530 (Part #BBCG59530) fits the following vehicles: 2000-2006 Toyota Tundra. Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
The Air Lift RIDE CONTROL KIT 59530 (Part #BBCG59530) fits 2000-2006 Toyota Tundra models. The 2006 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
The Air Lift RIDE CONTROL KIT 59530 (Part #BBCG59530) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
No. The kit does not fit 2000-2006 Toyota Tundra 2WD or 4WD pickups equipped with the TRD Package with 275/65-18 wheels and tires. If your Tundra has this configuration, this kit is not compatible.
The manual recommends checking with your dealer before installing if your vehicle is equipped with a rear brake proportioning valve, as any load assist product could affect brake performance. If your vehicle does not have a rear brake proportioning valve or is equipped with an anti-lock brake system, installation will have no effect on brake system performance.
The RideControl kit provides up to 2,000 pounds of combined load-leveling support. Each air sleeve is rated at a maximum of 100 PSI. The springs will support approximately 40 pounds of load (combined on both springs) for each 1 PSI of pressure.
No. The installation of this kit does not alter the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or payload of the vehicle. You must check your vehicle owner's manual and never exceed the maximum load listed for your vehicle. Exceeding the GVWR is dangerous and voids the Air Lift warranty.
Required tools include: 1/2", 9/16", and 3/4" open-end or box wrenches; adjustable wrench; safety glasses; ratchet with 3/8", 9/16", and 1/2" deep well sockets; heavy duty drill; 3/8" and 5/16" drill bits (very sharp); and a torque wrench.
The kit includes: 2 air sleeves, 2 upper brackets, 2 lower brackets, 2 U-bolts, 2 lower clamp bars, 6 frame bolts (3/8" x 1.5"), 10 nylon lock nuts (3/8"), 4 flat washers (3/8"), 6 large flat washers (3/8"), 2 flat head screws (1/2" x 3/4"), 2 nylon jam nuts (3/4"-16), 2 straight fittings (1/8"), 1 air line assembly, 6 zip ties, 2 valve caps, 2 M8 flat washers, 2 rubber washers, 2 small star washers, and 4 hex nuts (5/16").
Remove any load from the vehicle and ensure it is on a level surface. If your leaf springs are sagging badly, use a jack to raise the rear end so the vehicle achieves its original "as-delivered" ride height. Measure the distance between the center of the hub and the bottom edge of the wheel well. This measurement is your Normal Ride Height. Record this measurement—you will need it during installation.
Torque the U-bolt and clamp bar assembly to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm). This fastens the lower bracket to the leaf spring using flat washers and lock nuts.
Torque the upper bracket mounting bolts to 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm).
Yes. You must drill three holes in the frame to mount the upper bracket. Use a 3/8" drill bit. Before drilling, you must check the back side of the frame to see if brake lines, gas lines, or any other lines or wires need to be moved. Cover the air fitting with tape to prevent metal shavings from entering it.
Drill 5/16" holes to install the inflation valves. Choose a convenient location such as wheel well flanges, the license plate recess in the bumper, under the gas cap access door, or through the license plate. Ensure there is enough clearance around the inflation valves for an air chuck.
There must be at least 1/4" clearance between the roll plate and the closest part of the frame. The closest space will be forward of the sleeve assembly. Check this clearance during installation.
Route the air line along the frame to the fitting on the air spring, keeping at least 6" of clearance between the air line and the exhaust system. Avoid sharp bends and edges. Use plastic tie straps to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis. Ensure tie straps are tight but do not pinch the air line. Leave at least 2" of slack to allow for movement that might pull on the air line.
Use a sharp knife or hose cutter to make clean, square cuts. Do not use scissors or wire cutters, as these tools may deform the air line and cause leaks. Do not cut at an angle. When inserting the air line into the push-to-connect fitting, push it in until it bottoms out—approximately 9/16" of air line should be in the fitting. Leave approximately 12" of extra air line before cutting.
Do not bend the 1/4" hose at a radius of less than 1". Do not bend the 3/8" hose at a radius of less than 1.5". The hose should be straight beyond the fitting for 1" before bending. Do not put side load pressure on the fitting.
Inflate the air spring to 30 PSI. Spray all connections and inflation valves with a solution of 1/5 liquid dish soap and 4/5 water. Spot leaks by looking for bubbles in the soapy water. After testing, deflate the springs to the minimum pressure required to restore normal ride height (not lower than 5 PSI). Check air pressure again after 24 hours. A 2-4 PSI loss after initial installation is normal. If the loss is more than 5 PSI, retest for leaks.
Perform the following checks: (1) Clearance test—inflate to 75-90 PSI and verify at least 1/2" clearance from tires, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. (2) Leak test—inflate to 75-90 PSI and check all connections for leaks. (3) Heat test—ensure at least 6" clearance from heat sources. (4) Fastener test—recheck all bolts for proper torque. (5) Road test—drive 10 miles and recheck clearance, fasteners, and leaks. (6) Overnight leak-down test—recheck pressure after 24 hours; if it drops more than 5 PSI, fix the leak.
The minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI. The maximum air pressure is 100 PSI. Never exceed 100 PSI. Loaded vehicles require at least 25 PSI. A "loaded vehicle" refers to a vehicle with a heavy bed load, a trailer, or both. Operating the vehicle below the minimum air spring pressure will void the Air Lift warranty.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height. Never inflate beyond 100 PSI. Periodically check the air spring system fasteners for tightness and check the air springs for any signs of rubbing.
The vehicle can be lifted on a hoist for short-term service work such as tire rotation or oil changes. However, if the vehicle will be on the hoist for a prolonged period, support the axle with jack stands to take the tension off the air springs. Use of on-board leveling systems does not require deflation or disconnection.
If the air springs are properly installed and maintained, they can last indefinitely.
No. Air pressure can be adjusted with any type of compressor as long as it can produce sufficient pressure to service the springs. Even a bicycle tire pump can be used, though it requires more effort. An on-board air compressor system allows for hassle-free control. One of the air lines may be improperly installed or a line may have a hole or crack. Start by leak testing the air line connections using a soapy water solution (1/5 liquid dish soap and 4/5 water). If no leaks are found, look for leaks in the rest of the air lines. Follow the steps in the "Fixing Leaks" section of the manual.
Look for a kink or fold in the air line going to that air spring. Replace any line that has been kinked.
First, check the air line connection by deflating the spring and removing the line by pulling the collar against the fitting and pulling firmly on the air line. Trim 1" off the end of the air line, ensuring the cut is clean and square. Reinsert the air line into the push-to-connect fitting. If it still leaks, check the threaded connection by tightening the swivel fitting another half turn. If it still leaks, deflate the air spring, remove the fitting, re-coat the threads with thread sealant, and reinstall by hand tightening as much as possible, then use a wrench for an additional two turns.
First, check the valve core by tightening it with a valve core tool. If that does not resolve the leak, check the air line by removing it from the barbed fitting. Cut the air line a few inches in front of the fitting and use pliers or vice grips to pull or twist the air line off the fitting. Do not cut off the air line completely, as this will usually nick the barb and render the fitting useless. If these steps do not resolve the problem, call Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
Tuning comes down to three things: level vehicle, ride comfort, and stability. (1) Level vehicle: if headlights shine into trees or the vehicle leans to one side, raise air pressure to level it. (2) Ride comfort: if the ride is rough or harsh, try different pressures to find the best comfort. (3) Stability: if there is roll control, bounce, dive during braking, or sponginess, increase pressure. Stability should be the priority. Start with the vehicle level or slightly above. When in doubt, always add air. It may be necessary to maintain different pressures on each side of the vehicle, with differences up to 50 PSI being common for uneven loads.
The springs in this kit will support approximately 40 pounds of load (combined on both springs) for each 1 PSI of pressure. For example, at 25 PSI, the springs support approximately 1,000 pounds combined. Loaded vehicles require at least 25 PSI. Loads carried behind the axle (including tongue loads) require more leveling force (pressure) than those carried directly over the axle.
The kit fits Toyota Tundra 2WD and 4WD models, except 2000-2006 models equipped with the TRD Package with 275/65-18 wheels and tires. Check with your dealer if your vehicle has a rear brake proportioning valve, as this may affect brake performance.
You need a heavy duty drill, torque wrench, wrenches (1/2", 9/16", 3/4"), ratchet with sockets (3/8", 9/16", 1/2"), safety glasses, and sharp 3/8" and 5/16" drill bits.
Torque the lower bracket U-bolt to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm) and the upper bracket mounting bolts to 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). The air fitting is tightened 1.5 turns by hand.
Minimum pressure is 5 PSI; maximum is 100 PSI. Loaded vehicles require at least 25 PSI. Never exceed 100 PSI or your vehicle's GVWR.
Inflate to 30 PSI and spray all connections with a 1/5 dish soap and 4/5 water solution. Look for bubbles. A 2-4 PSI loss after 24 hours is normal; more than 5 PSI indicates a leak that must be fixed.
Check air pressure weekly. Perform a full system inspection after 30 days or 500 miles, whichever comes first, checking for rubbing, loose fasteners, and leaks.
No. The kit does not change GVWR, GAWR, or GCWR. Never exceed your vehicle's GVWR, as this is dangerous and voids the warranty.
Cause: An air line is improperly installed, kinked, or has a hole or crack; or a connection is loose. Fix: Use a soapy water solution (1/5 dish soap and 4/5 water) to test all air line connections and inflation valve cores. If no leaks are found, inspect all air lines for kinks, holes, or cracks. For swivel fitting leaks, trim 1" off the air line end and reinsert. For inflation valve leaks, tighten the valve core with a valve core tool. If the problem persists, call Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
Cause: The air line to that air spring is kinked or folded. Fix: Inspect the air line going to the affected air spring. Replace any line that has been kinked.
Cause: Air pressure is either too high or too low. Fix: Try different pressures to determine the best ride comfort. If the vehicle rocks and rolls, increase air pressure to reduce movement. If the front dives while braking, increase pressure in the front air bags if equipped. If the air bags have bottomed out, increase pressure.
Cause: Air pressure is not balanced or is incorrect. Fix: Raise the air pressure to correct the leveling problem. It may be necessary to maintain different pressures on each side of the vehicle—differences up to 50 PSI are not uncommon for uneven loads such as water, fuel, or appliances.
