The RideControl kit provides up to 2,000 pounds (907 kg) of load-leveling support. Each sleeve is rated at a maximum of 100 PSI (7 BAR).
RideControl air springs are designed and manufactured like a tire, with layers of rubber and cords that control the bag's growth and funnel it into one direction. The bags do not require a coil spring for control. The kit uses a sleeve-style air bag design.
Required tools include: 1/2", 9/16" and 3/4" open-end or box wrenches; adjustable wrench; safety glasses; ratchet with 3/8", 9/16" and 1/2" deep well sockets; 5/16" drill bit (very sharp); heavy-duty drill; torque wrench; floor jack; and two safety stands.

The axle must be in the normal ride height position, as if the wheels were on and the truck was sitting in a parking lot. If using a frame contact hoist, lower the vehicle so the axle is at this normal position before installation.
Tighten the fittings one-and-a-half turns past finger-tight.
Use no more than 4 lb.-ft. (5 Nm) to seat the bracket to the air spring. Do not over-tighten.
Tighten the lower bracket screw to no more than 15 lb.-ft. (20 Nm).
Torque the U-bolt hardware (3/8" flat washers and nylon lock nuts) to 15 lb.-ft. (20 Nm).
Torque the 3/8" self-tapping screws to 15 lb.-ft. (20 Nm).
Yes. Two 5/16" holes must be drilled through the frame for each side to mount the upper bracket. The manual specifies using a center-punch as a template and a very sharp 5/16" drill bit with a heavy-duty drill.
Only if necessary. The manual states to choose the locations for the Schrader valves and drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole if necessary. Suggested locations include inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or the license plate or rear bumper area.
The upper bracket and lower bracket must be parallel to each other and perpendicular to each other. The fittings should point in the opposite direction of the tab or "finger" on the lower bracket.
The short leg of the upper bracket must be in contact with the bottom of the frame rail.
For the right-side assembly, the fitting points must be in the opposite direction as the left-side assembly. This ensures proper clearance and alignment on each side of the vehicle.
Cut the air line in half using clean, square cuts with a razor blade or hose cutter. Do not use scissors or wire cutters.
Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis. Do not pinch or kink the air line. Leave at least 2" (51 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for any movement that might pull on the air line. The minimum bend radius for the air line is 1" (25 mm).
Keep at least 6" (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. Avoid sharp bends and edges.
Attach the metal heat shield to the exhaust where it is closest to the air spring. Slide the air line thermal sleeve over the air line and place it where the air line is closest to the exhaust. Maintain at least 1/2" (13 mm) of dead air space between the shield and exhaust.
The maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). Never inflate beyond this pressure.
The minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). Always maintain normal ride height and never allow pressure to drop below this minimum.
No. For safety and to prevent possible damage to the vehicle, do not exceed the maximum gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or payload rating as indicated by the vehicle manufacturer. The air springs support load but do not increase the vehicle's weight capacity.
Compressed air can cause injury and damage to the vehicle and parts if not handled properly. Do not try to inflate the air springs until they have been properly secured to the vehicle.
Inflate the air springs to 40-60 PSI (2.8-4.1 BAR) and make sure there is at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from anything that might rub against each sleeve. Be sure to check the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers and brake cables.
Inflate the air springs to 40-60 PSI (2.8-4.1 BAR) and check all connections for leaks. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested.
Be sure there is sufficient clearance from heat sources, at least 6" (152 mm) for air springs and air lines. If a heat shield was included in the kit, install it. If there is no heat shield but one is required, call Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
Recheck all bolts for proper torque after installation.
After passing the clearance, leak, heat and fastener tests, road test the vehicle. Inflate the springs to recommended driving pressures. Drive the vehicle 10 miles (16 km) and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners and air leaks.
Check air pressure weekly.
If the system develops an air leak, use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core before deflating and removing the air spring.
