The Air Lift MN-332 (part numbers 59503 and 59529) is a load-assist air spring kit designed to support additional weight on the rear of a vehicle. It consists of two air sleeves that mount to the leaf springs via brackets, connected to inflation valves via air lines. The system allows you to adjust ride height and load-carrying capacity by inflating or deflating the air springs to maintain your vehicle's normal ride height under load.
The MN-332 is designed for vehicles with leaf springs, including Mazda, Toyota, Chevy, GMC, Isuzu, Nissan, Oldsmobile, and Dodge models. For Mazda and Toyota, the kit mounts forward of the axle housing. For Chevy, GMC, Isuzu, Nissan, Oldsmobile, and Dodge, it mounts behind the axle housing. If your vehicle make is not listed, you can test fitment by setting the air spring assembly on the leaf spring and checking for clearance problems or obstructions. Yes. The Dodge Durango is equipped with an inner fenderwell liner. You have two options: (1) position the upper bracket on the outside of the liner behind the axle (Durango Option 1), or (2) trim away the liner as shown in Durango Option 2. The manual includes specific figures (14) showing both options. Refer to Section V, step 2 for details.
Required tools include: standard and metric open-end or box wrenches; ratchet with 3/8", 1/2", and 9/16" deep-well sockets; 5/16" drill bit (very sharp); 7/16" and 9/16" nut drivers; heavy-duty drill; torque wrench; hose cutter, razor blade, or sharp knife; hoist or floor jacks; safety stands; safety glasses; air compressor or compressed air source; and spray bottle with dish soap/water solution.

Normal ride height is the distance between the bottom edge of the wheel-well and the center of the hub with the vehicle in the "as delivered" condition. (1) Remove unusual loads and examine your vehicle from the side to ensure it is on a level surface. (2) If necessary (for example, if leaf springs are sagging badly), use a jack to raise the rear end so the vehicle achieves the original "as delivered" ride height. Follow these steps: (1) Install the 90-degree air swivel fitting (D) to the top of the air spring using an open-end wrench, tightening on the metal hex nut only. Tighten finger-tight plus 1.5 turns—do not over-tighten. The fitting is precoated with sealant. (2) Thread the attached fitting through the upper bracket (B), positioning the elbow toward the front or rear for easier air-line access. (3) Slide the nylon nut (K) over the air fitting onto the thread post with the flat side up. (4) Tighten the nylon nut by hand to secure the bracket—hand-tight is sufficient. Ensure the bracket is tight and flat to the roll plate on both sides. (5) Loosely attach the lower bracket (C) to the bottom of the air spring using a 1/2" flat washer (L) and 1/2" hex head cap screw (J).
With the vehicle at normal ride height, set the bracket-air spring assembly on the leaf spring in your determined location (forward or behind the axle). Position the hook end of the lower bracket (C) over the spring perch or factory U-bolt. The hook end must lock over the U-bolt or perch to prevent moving along the leaf spring. Secure the lower bracket using U-bolt (E), clamp bar (F), flat washers (H), and Nylock nuts (G). Tighten to 16 ft-lbs. The upper bracket (B) must be parallel and perpendicular to the lower bracket (C). Align the upper bracket so that the short leg touches the bottom of the frame rail—if it does not contact the frame rail, the warranty will be void. Using the upper bracket as a template, center-punch one hole. A welding clamp or C-clamp may help hold the bracket to the frame. Before drilling, check the back side of the frame rail for brake lines, gas lines, or electrical lines and move any interfering lines. Drill one 5/16" hole and install one WHST (I), tightening to 15 ft-lbs. Check again that the upper and lower brackets are parallel and perpendicular. Center-punch and drill the remaining two holes (minimum three of five pre-drilled holes must be used) and install the WHST (I), torquing to 15 ft-lbs. Do not over-tighten.
Yes. You must drill one 5/16" hole in the frame rail for the first WHST (I) fastener, then center-punch and drill two additional 5/16" holes for the remaining WHST fasteners. A minimum of three of the five pre-drilled holes in the upper bracket must be used. You must also drill a 5/16" hole to install the inflation valves. Before drilling the frame rail, check the back side for brake lines, gas lines, or electrical lines and move any interfering lines prior to drilling.
For most vehicles, no permanent modifications are required. However, for some Chevy/GMC S-Series Pickups and Blazer/Jimmy models, there may be a small tab on the spring perch plate that must be trimmed off using a hacksaw or die grinder for proper placement of the lower bracket. Cut the air line assembly (AA) in two equal lengths using a hose cutter (Air Lift P/N 10530), a razor blade, or a sharp knife. A clean, square cut prevents leaks. Do not use wire cutters or scissors, as these tools may flatten or crimp the air line, causing it to leak around the O-ring seal inside the elbow fitting. When cutting the air line to length before connecting to the air fitting, cut off the air line leaving approximately 12" of extra air line and ensure a clean, square cut.
Torque specifications are: U-bolt Nylock nuts (G) to 16 ft-lbs; WHST (I) fasteners to 15 ft-lbs (do not over-tighten); lower bolt for air spring (J) to 10 ft-lbs (snug only, to prevent stripping threads). After 30 days or 500 miles, recheck all fasteners for tightness.

Choose a convenient location for the inflation valves. Popular locations include wheel-well flanges, license plate recess in bumper, under the gas cap access door, or through the license plate itself. Ensure there is enough clearance around the inflation valves for an air chuck. Drill a 5/16" hole to install each valve. Place a 5/16" nut (GG) and star washer (FF) on the valve, leaving enough valve exposed to extend through the hole and have room for the rubber washer (EE), flat washer (DD), and 5/16" nut (GG) and cap (CC). Approximately 1/2" of valve should be exposed to easily apply a pressure gauge or air chuck. Push the inflation valve through the hole and use the rubber washer, flat washer, and another 5/16" nut to secure it in place. Tighten the nuts to secure the assembly.
Route the air line along the frame to the air fitting on the air spring. Keep at least 6" of clearance between the air line and heat sources such as exhaust pipes, muffler, or catalytic converter. Avoid sharp bends and edges. Use plastic tie straps (BB) to secure the air line to fixed, non-moving points along the chassis. Tie straps should be tight but not pinch the air line. Where there are no holes to secure straps, use the air line clip (HH) and self-tapper (II) to secure the air line to the frame. Leave at least 2" of slack to allow for any movement that might pull on the air line. Cut the air line leaving approximately 12" of extra air line with a clean, square cut. Insert the air line into the air fitting by pushing it into the 90-degree swivel fitting until it bottoms out (9/16" of air line should be in the fitting).
With the bottom of the air spring still loose, inflate it to approximately 10 p.s.i. Use the slotted adjustment in the lower bracket to correctly align the air spring between the upper and lower bracket by tapping it inboard or outboard for proper alignment. There should be a symmetrical cushion of air around the base of the air spring when correctly positioned. When aligned, tighten the lower end by holding the air spring and turning the bolt with a 3/4" open-end wrench. Snug (10 ft-lbs) will be sufficient and will also prevent stripping the threads. Do not attempt to hold the air spring with any type of tool.
The minimum air pressure is 5 p.s.i. The maximum air pressure is 100 p.s.i. However, the actual air pressure needed depends on your load and vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), which may be less than 100 p.s.i. Always maintain normal ride height by adjusting air pressure as necessary. Check your vehicle owner's manual and do not exceed the maximum load listed for your vehicle. Failure to maintain correct minimum pressure (or pressure proportional to load), bottoming out, overextension, or rubbing against another component will void the warranty.
Compressed air can cause injury and damage to the vehicle and parts if not handled properly. Do not try to inflate the air springs until they have been properly secured to the vehicle. Never inflate beyond 100 p.s.i. Do not exceed the vehicle's maximum Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) as indicated by the vehicle manufacturer. Always add air to springs in small quantities, checking the pressure frequently, as sleeves require less air volume than a tire and inflate quickly. Should it become necessary to raise the vehicle by the frame, make sure the system is at minimum pressure (5 p.s.i.) to reduce tension on the suspension/brake components. Failure to maintain correct minimum pressure, prevent bottoming out, overextension, or rubbing will void the warranty.
Inflate the air spring to 60 p.s.i. Spray all connections and the inflation valves with a solution of 1/5 liquid dish soap and 4/5 water to check for leaks. You should be able to spot leaks easily by looking for bubbles in the soapy water. After the test, deflate the springs to the minimum pressure required to restore the normal ride height, but not less than 5 p.s.i. Check the air pressure again after 24 hours. A 2 to 4 p.s.i. loss after initial installation is normal. Retest for leaks if the loss is more than 5 lbs.
Perform the following checks: (1) Clearance Test—inflate the air springs to 60 p.s.i. and ensure at least 1/2" clearance around each sleeve from anything that might rub (tire, brake drum, frame, shock absorbers, brake cables). (2) Leak Test—inflate to 60 p.s.i., check all connections for leaks with soapy water solution. All leaks must be eliminated before road testing. (3) Heat Test—ensure at least 6" clearance from heat sources (exhaust, muffler, catalytic converter). (4) Fastener Test—recheck all bolts for proper torque (WHST: 15 ft-lbs; U-bolt lock nuts: 16 ft-lbs; lower bolt: 10 ft-lbs). (5) Road Test—inflate springs to 25 p.s.i. (50 p.s.i. if loaded), drive 10 miles, and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners, and air leaks.
Check the air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height. Never inflate beyond 100 p.s.i. If you develop an air leak, use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core before deflating and removing the air spring. When increasing load, always adjust the air pressure to maintain normal ride height. Remember that loads carried behind the axle (including tongue loads) require more leveling force (pressure) than those carried directly over the axle. Always add air to springs in small quantities, checking the pressure frequently. After 30 days or 500 miles (whichever comes first), recheck the air spring system. If any part shows signs of rubbing or abrasion, identify and move the source if possible. Check all fasteners for tightness.
If there is a problem with the swivel fitting: (1) Check the air line connection by deflating the spring and removing the line by pulling the collar against the fitting and pulling firmly on the air line. Trim 1" off the end of the air line. Be sure the cut is clean and square. Reinsert the air line into the push-to-connect fitting. (2) If it still leaks, check the threaded connection by tightening the swivel fitting another 1/2 turn. If it still leaks, deflate the air spring, remove the fitting, and re-coat the threads with thread sealant. Reinstall by hand-tightening as much as possible, then use a wrench for an additional two turns.
If there is a problem with the inflation valve: (1) Check the valve core by tightening it with a valve core tool. (2) Check the air line connection by removing the air line from the barbed-type fitting. Do not cut it off, as this will usually nick the barb and render the fitting useless. Cut the air line off a few inches in front of the fitting and use a pair of pliers or vise-grips to pull/twist the air line off the fitting.
If the system is not maintaining air pressure, check the following in order: (1) Leak test the air line connections and threaded connection of the elbow into the air spring using a soapy water solution. (2) Leak test the inflation valve for leaks at the air line connection or dirt/debris in the valve core. (3) Inspect air lines to ensure they are not pinched—tie straps may be too tight; loosen or replace the strap. (4) Inspect the air line for holes and cracks and replace as needed. (5) Check for a kink or fold in the air line and reroute as needed. If these steps do not resolve the problem, the issue is most likely a failed air spring (factory defect or operating problem). Torque U-bolt nuts to 16 ft-lbs, WHST fasteners to 15 ft-lbs, and lower air spring bolt to 10 ft-lbs. Tighten the elbow fitting finger-tight plus 1.5 turns. Do not over-tighten.
Inflate to 60 p.s.i. and check for 1/2" clearance around each sleeve. Test all connections for leaks with soapy water. Verify 6" clearance from heat sources. Recheck all bolt torque. Then inflate to 25 p.s.i. (50 p.s.i. if loaded), drive 10 miles, and recheck clearance and fasteners.
Spray all air line connections and the inflation valve with a soapy water solution to check for leaks. Look for bubbles. If found, check the air line connection at the swivel fitting by deflating, removing the line, trimming 1" off the end with a clean square cut, and reinserting. If the threaded connection leaks, tighten the swivel fitting another 1/2 turn. If the inflation valve leaks, tighten the valve core with a valve core tool or remove and reinsert the air line at the barbed fitting (do not cut it off—use pliers to pull/twist it off).
Inspect the air line for pinching caused by tie straps that are too tight. Loosen or replace the strap. Check for kinks or folds in the air line and reroute as needed. Ensure the air line has at least 2" of slack to allow for suspension movement.
Inspect the air line for holes and cracks. If found, the air line assembly must be replaced. Contact Air Lift at 1-800-248-0892 for a replacement air line assembly.
