These 3" nerf bars are constructed from strong carbon steel for superior rigidity, and they feature a sleek semi-gloss black powder coat finish. For an added edge, each nerf bar also goes through an E-coat process, before receiving its black powder coat, to strengthen and protect the final finish against peeling, chipping and scratching. ARIES 3" round side bars are also available in polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black powder-coated steel. All ARIES 3" nerf bars come with heavy-duty steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets are strong and custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the side bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. They offer easy installation and the strength necessary to provide sound footing. These particular custom nerf bars fit specific years of the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of tough polypropylene. These step pads feature a textured pattern for enhanced safety, and they cover a wide portion of the tubes for a more comfortable step.

Start the installation on the passenger side of the vehicle. After completing the passenger side (steps 1–6), repeat the same steps to install the driver/left sidebar.
Three mounting brackets are used per sidebar. The brackets bolt to the 1st, 2nd, and 4th factory running board mounting locations along the bottom and inner side of the body. All 6 brackets are universal and will fit either left or right side.
Yes, rubber plugs must be removed from the factory running board mounting locations as necessary to access the mounting holes. The manual shows this in Figure 2.
Clip-on nuts (8-1.25mm) are special fasteners that slide into the large factory mounting hole and position over the smaller hole next to it. The threaded nut on the clip-on nut aligns with the smaller hole in the body panel, allowing the mounting bracket to bolt on without drilling.
Bolt each mounting bracket to 2 clip-on nuts using 2 8mm x 25mm hex bolts, 2 8mm lock washers, and 2 8mm flat washers. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten it at this stage.
