ARIES 3" round side bars are a reliable and budget-friendly option for side steps on your truck. This set of nerf bars offers solid rust resistance, a custom fit and a no-drill installation. Constructed from stainless steel, these 3" side bars are perfect for work or play, easily withstanding dirt, water, mud, sand, snow and road salt and maintaining dependable corrosion resistance even offroad. They also come with a durable semi-gloss black powder coat finish that greater enhances rust resistance, and helps keep the nerf bars looking clean in spite of minor scuffs and scratches. 3" diameter, heavy-wall tubing is used to construct the steps, providing excellent strength and rigidity for safe, comfortable entry and exit. These 3" round nerf bars also feature non-skid step pads to further enhance safety. The step pads are textured to increase traction, and they are custom-placed to match the door layout for a convenient step up right where you need it. To ensure the best fit and appearance on your truck, every set of 3" side bars is made vehicle-specific. This means the steps are bent to a specific contour to complement the shape of the vehicle's rocker panels. It also makes for a much easier installation compared to any universal nerf bars or running boards. No. The vehicle must be on level ground during installation. A bubble level must be used to ensure the side bar is level and parallel with the side of the vehicle before final tightening. This is critical for proper alignment and function.
Four mounting brackets are used per side: two on the driver side and two on the passenger side. On the driver side, brackets are installed over the first, second, fourth, and fifth mounting tabs. On the passenger side, two additional front-specific brackets (upper and lower) are installed at the front mounting point.
1. Install four universal mounting brackets on the driver side over mounting tabs 1, 2, 4, and 5, using M8 bolts and clip nuts. 2. Attach the driver side bar to these brackets with eight M8 bolts, leaving all hardware snug but not fully tightened. 3. Level and align the driver side bar, then fully tighten all hardware. 4. Install the two passenger front mounting brackets (upper and lower) at the front mounting point, securing them together with M10 bolts. 5. Install the remaining passenger side brackets and attach the passenger side bar, following the same leveling and tightening process as the driver side.
Snugging hardware without fully tightening allows you to make adjustments to bracket positions and rotate the side bar as necessary to achieve proper level and parallel alignment with the vehicle. Once the side bar is correctly positioned and verified with a bubble level, all hardware is then fully tightened to complete the installation.
For the first and second mounting tabs: attach a universal bracket to the body panel using one M8 hex bolt with a lock washer and flat washer through the threaded hole on the inside of the body panel. Snug but do not fully tighten. Then rotate the bottom of the bracket to expose the hole in the mounting tab, slide an M8 clip nut over the mounting tab, rotate the bracket back, and secure with a second M8 bolt, lock washer, and flat washer. For the fourth and fifth mounting tabs: remove the rubber plug from the access hole, insert a clip nut through the access hole and align it over the adjacent small hole, then secure the top with an M8 bolt, lock washer, and flat washer, and repeat the process for the bottom.
