These 3" nerf bars are constructed from strong carbon steel for superior rigidity, and they feature a sleek semi-gloss black powder coat finish. For an added edge, each nerf bar also goes through an E-coat process, before receiving its black powder coat, to strengthen and protect the final finish against peeling, chipping and scratching. ARIES 3" round side bars are also available in polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black powder-coated steel. All ARIES 3" nerf bars come with heavy-duty steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets are strong and custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the side bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. They offer easy installation and the strength necessary to provide sound footing. These particular custom nerf bars fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500, 1500 HD, 2500 HD, 2500 HD Classic or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 1500, 1500 HD, 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of tough polypropylene. These step pads feature a textured pattern for enhanced safety, and they cover a wide portion of the tubes for a more comfortable step.

1/2" bolts should be torqued to 28 ft-lbs. This applies to the 1/2" x 2" hex bolts used to attach the sidebars to the mounting brackets.
M8 bolts should be torqued to 7 ft-lbs. This applies to the M8 x 25mm hex bolts used to attach center mounting brackets and support brackets.
GM applies a very strong thread-locking compound to all body bolts. Impact ratchets can damage the threads and internal nut assembly. Use hand tools only to slowly remove and reinstall body mount bolts on GM vehicles.
If the bolt becomes increasingly difficult to unscrew with hand tools, tighten it several rotations to clear the thread-locking compound from the threads, then reverse direction and continue unscrewing. Repeat as necessary. Use anti-seize compound when reinstalling.

Yes. The 2014-on 1500 Double Cab uses a different center bracket assembly. For this model, use the driver/left Support Bracket only at the center location (no Mounting Bracket required), and attach the sidebar to the top slot in the front bracket. For 1999-2013 1500 and 1999-2015 2500-3500 models, use the Center Mounting Bracket and attach the sidebar to the bottom slot in the front bracket.
For 2014-on 1500 Double Cab models, attach the sidebar to the top slot in the front bracket. For 1999-2013 1500 and 1999-2015 2500-3500 models, attach the sidebar to the bottom slot in the front bracket.
No. During installation, snug but do not fully tighten the front body bolt (Step 2), leave the center support bracket 8mm hardware loose (Step 3b), and do not tighten the sidebar attachment hardware or center bracket 8mm hardware at this time (Steps 6-7). Only after leveling and adjusting the sidebar in Step 8 should you fully tighten all hardware.
After attaching the sidebar to the front and rear mounting brackets and the center bracket, use a level to check the sidebar position. Adjust the sidebar and mounting brackets as needed, then fully tighten all hardware once satisfied with the level position.
Check all mounting locations for clearance between the factory steel body mount brackets and the mounting brackets. Adjust the mounting brackets if necessary to prevent contact. The manual emphasizes this is very important to prevent unnecessary noise.
Use 1 hex bolt 1/2" x 2", 1 lock washer 1/2", and 1 flat washer 1/2" at the front attachment point. The same hardware is used at the rear attachment point.
Use 1 hex bolt M8 x 25mm, 1 lock washer M8, and 1 flat washer M8 x 24mm x 2mm to attach the center bracket to the sidebar.
Use 2 hex bolts M8 x 25mm, 2 lock washers M8, and 2 flat washers M8 x 24mm x 2mm to bolt the support bracket to the inside of the mounting bracket. Leave this hardware loose until final tightening.
If the center bracket does not line up with the sidebar insert, it may be necessary to loosen the body bolt slightly to move the bracket into alignment before tightening.
Install in this order: (1) front driver-side bracket, (2) center driver-side bracket or support bracket, (3) rear driver-side bracket, (4) driver-side sidebar, (5) repeat all steps for passenger-side. Start on the front, driver side of the vehicle.
Wax the product after installing and regularly thereafter to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use polish or wax containing abrasives. For stainless steel, aluminum polish may be used on small scratches and scuffs. For gloss black finishes, use mild soap to clean. Clean with mild automotive detergent only; do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, or wire brushes.
Do periodic inspections to ensure all hardware is secure and tight. Check all mounting locations for clearance between the factory steel body mount brackets and the mounting brackets.
