ARIES nerf bars are all made vehicle-specific for a custom, no-drill fit, and they are available in multiple finish options. This set of nerf bars is constructed from 304 stainless steel with a polished finish. Our 304 stainless steel is a true stainless with high nickel content, offering better corrosion resistance and a long-lasting finish. The polish is a triple application, resulting in a mirror-like shine to complement your vehicle. ARIES 3" round side bars also come with high-streng th steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets -- as well as the side bars and step pads -- are custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the nerf bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. This ensures easy, no-drill installation and the strength necessary to provide solid footing. This particular set of custom nerf bars fits specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500, 1500 HD, 2500 HD, 2500 HD Classic or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 1500, 1500 HD, 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of polypropylene. These wide, custom-positioned step pads feature a textured pattern and cover a wide portion of the tubes to be more comfortable and high-traction, even in wet conditions.

Do not fully tighten hardware until all brackets are positioned and leveled.
For 2014-on 1500 Double Cab models, attach the sidebar to the top slot in the front bracket. For 1999-2013 1500 and 1999-2015 2500-3500 models, attach the sidebar to the bottom slot in the front bracket.
No. On 2014-on 1500 Double Cab models, use only the Center Support Bracket at the middle body mount location. Bolt the Support Bracket to the inside of the Mounting Bracket with 2 M8 hex bolts, 2 M8 lock washers, and 2 M8 flat washers, but leave this hardware loose until final leveling and tightening.
Yes. On 1999-2013 1500 and 1999-2015 2500-3500 models, install the Center Mounting Bracket to the body mount and tighten the body bolt. Then bolt the Center Support Bracket to the inside of the Mounting Bracket with 2 M8 hex bolts, 2 M8 lock washers, and 2 M8 flat washers, leaving this hardware loose until final leveling.
Do not tighten hardware until all brackets are positioned and the sidebar is leveled. First, snug the front body mount bolt but do not fully tighten it. Attach the sidebar to the front and rear brackets with 1/2" bolts without tightening. Attach the center bracket to the sidebar with an M8 bolt without tightening. Once the sidebar is level and all brackets are positioned correctly with no contact between the Mounting Brackets and factory steel body mount brackets, fully tighten all hardware.
Adjust the position of all Mounting Brackets so that once tightened, they cannot come in contact with the factory steel body mount bracket. Check all mounting locations for clearance between the factory steel body mount brackets and the Mounting Brackets, and adjust if necessary before fully tightening all hardware.
The torque specification for 1/2" bolts is 28 ft-lbs. This applies to the 1/2" x 2" hex bolts that attach the sidebar to the front and rear brackets.
The torque specification for M8 bolts is 7 ft-lbs. This applies to the M8 hex bolts used to attach the center Support Bracket and the center bracket to the sidebar.
GM uses a very strong thread-locking compound on all body bolts. An air-assisted impact ratchet can damage the threads on factory body mount bolts and the internal nut assembly because of this compound. Only hand tools should be used to slowly remove and reinstall body mount bolts on all GM vehicles.
If during removal it becomes increasingly difficult to unscrew the body mount bolt with hand tools, tighten the bolt several rotations to clear the thread-locking compound from the threads, then reverse direction and continue to unscrew until the bolt is out. Repeat this process as necessary on all GM body mount bolts.
Yes. Use of an appropriate anti-seize compound is highly recommended for reinstalling body mount bolts on GM vehicles. After applying anti-seize, tighten the body mount bolt to the factory torque specifications for your particular model year.
Wax the sidebar after installing and regularly thereafter to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives, as these can damage the finish. For stainless steel, aluminum polish may be used to polish small scratches and scuffs. For gloss black finishes, mild soap may be used to clean the sidebar. Clean with mild automotive detergent only. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, or wire brushes.
Perform periodic inspections to ensure that all hardware is secure and tight. Verify that the Mounting Brackets do not contact the factory steel body mount brackets, as this can cause noise. Check all mounting locations for proper clearance and fit.
