ARIES nerf bars are all made vehicle-specific for a custom, no-drill fit, and they are available in multiple finish options. This set of nerf bars is constructed from 304 stainless steel with a polished finish. Our 304 stainless steel is a true stainless with high nickel content, offering better corrosion resistance and a long-lasting finish. The polish is a triple application, resulting in a mirror-like shine to complement your vehicle. ARIES 3" round side bars also come with high-strength steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets -- as well as the side bars and step pads -- are custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the nerf bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. This ensures easy, no-drill installation and the strength necessary to provide solid footing. This particular set of custom nerf bars fits specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500, 1500 HD, 2500, 2500 HD, 2500 HD Classic, 3500 or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 1500, 1500 HD, 2500, 2500 HD, 3500 or 3500 HD (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of polypropylene. These wide, custom-positioned step pads feature a textured pattern and cover a wide portion of the tubes to be more comfortable and high-traction, even in wet conditions.

Yes, the ARIES 204013-2 is designed for General Motors trucks including Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Light Duty and Heavy Duty models. However, late 2010 and 2012 models have a different body mount design with cage nuts and heavy-duty Loc-tite that requires special installation care. See the Installation Alert on page 3 for critical instructions on removing factory body mount bolts on these model years.
For 2005 and earlier models, use the included 10mm x 25mm and 12mm x 120mm bolts. For 2006 and newer models, use the existing factory body mount bolts instead of the included bolts.
The manual does not specify required tools beyond general hand tools for loosening and tightening bolts. However, the manual explicitly warns against using impact tools, especially on 2010 and 2012 GM trucks. All body mount bolts must be loosened and re-tightened by hand only.
1. Start with the driver side. 2. Loosen and remove the factory body mount bolts from underneath the truck. 3. Attach the front mounting bracket to the front body mount using one 12mm x 120mm bolt, one 12mm lock washer, and one 12mm flat washer, sandwiching the spacer tube. Snug but do not fully tighten. 4. Attach the rear mounting bracket to the rear body mount the same way. 5. For the middle bracket, insert two 1.44" spacer washers between the bracket and center body mount, then secure with the same bolt and washer configuration. 6. Attach the side bar to the front and rear brackets using one 12mm x 50mm bolt, one 12mm lock washer, and one 12mm flat washer per bracket. Hand tighten. 7. Fasten the middle bracket to the side bar using one 10mm x 25mm bolt and one 10mm flat washer. 8. Adjust the side bar to be level and centered, then tighten all bolts. 9. Repeat for the passenger side.

Starting in late 2010, General Motors changed the body mount design on Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks. The new design uses a loose nut surrounded by a cage nut with two tabs to prevent loosening, and applies heavy-duty Loc-tite to the body mount bolts. Impact tools can cause the cage nut tabs to bend, allowing the nut to spin freely inside the chassis floor, and can seize the bolts. All body mount bolts on these trucks must be loosened and re-tightened by hand only.
If bolts become increasingly tight as you loosen them, you may need to retighten and loosen the bolt several times to clear the heavy-duty Loc-tite from the threads. This is normal for these model years. Continue working the bolt by hand until it loosens freely. Do not use impact tools or force.
