ARIES 3" round side bars are a reliable and budget-friendly option for side steps on your truck. This set of nerf bars offers solid rust resistance, a custom fit and a no-drill installation. Constructed from stainless steel, these 3" side bars are perfect for work or play, easily withstanding dirt, water, mud, sand, snow and road salt and maintaining dependable corrosion resistance even offroad. They also come with a durable semi-gloss black powder coat finish that greater enhances rust resistance, and helps keep the nerf bars looking clean in spite of minor scuffs and scratches. 3" diameter, heavy-wall tubing is used to construct the steps, providing excellent strength and rigidity for safe, comfortable entry and exit. These 3" round nerf bars also feature non-skid step pads to further enhance safety. The step pads are textured to increase traction, and they are custom-placed to match the door layout for a convenient step up right where you need it. To ensure the best fit and appearance on your truck, every set of 3" side bars is made vehicle-specific. This means the steps are bent to a specific contour to complement the shape of the vehicle's rocker panels. It also makes for a much easier installation compared to any universal nerf bars or running boards. These particular 3" nerf bars are designed to fit specific years of the Ford F-150, F-150 Lightning, F-250 Super Duty and F-350 Super Duty (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES side bars use heavy-duty, vehicle-specific brackets that mount using pre-existing factory holes to completely eliminate drilling from the installation process. The manual does not specify vehicle makes, models, or years. The product is designed to mount to factory running board mounting studs on the vehicle body. You will need a ratchet, open-end wrench set, and socket set. These are basic hand tools; no power tools, drilling equipment, or lifting devices are required.
Assistance is recommended during installation. The manual notes that proper tools and assistance will improve the quality of installation and reduce the time required.
The plastic washers are designed to prevent corrosion between the aluminum body panel and the steel mounting brackets. They must be installed on all factory mounting studs before attaching the brackets. Do not install the brackets without the plastic washers.
All 6 brackets are universal and will fit either the left or right side of the vehicle. You do not need to match specific brackets to specific sides.
Three mounting brackets are installed per side: one at the front, one in the center, and one at the rear. Each bracket attaches to 3 factory mounting studs.
No. When attaching the mounting brackets to the factory studs in Steps 1–4, snug the hardware but do not fully tighten it. The brackets are fully tightened only after the sidebar is positioned and leveled in Step 6.
No. The manual explicitly states: do not slide (front to back) or rotate the sidebar on the brackets, as this may damage the finish on the sidebar. Carefully position the sidebar onto the brackets and avoid any sliding or rotating motion.
1. Start on the passenger (right) side. 2. Install the front, center, and rear mounting brackets on the factory studs with plastic washers, flat washers, and nylon lock nuts (snug, not tight). 3. Position the passenger sidebar on the three brackets and attach with hex bolts, lock washers, and flat washers (do not tighten). 4. Level and adjust the sidebar, then tighten all hardware. 5. Repeat the process for the driver (left) side.
M8 bolts should be torqued to 7 ft-lbs. This applies to the 8-1.25mm hex bolts and nylon lock nuts used throughout the 213043 installation.
Use mild automotive detergent and water to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes, or similar products that may damage the finish. For stainless steel, aluminum polish may be used on small scratches and scuffs. For gloss black finishes, use only mild soap. Do not use any polish or wax containing abrasives.
Yes. Wax the product after installing to protect it. Regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives, as these could damage the finish.
