ARIES 3" side bars are more than a fancy decal for your truck, Jeep or SUV. They are a confident first step on each new adventure. These 3" nerf bars are constructed from strong carbon steel for superior rigidity, and they feature a sleek semi-gloss black powder coat finish. For an added edge, each nerf bar also goes through an E-coat process, before receiving its black powder coat, to strengthen and protect the final finish against peeling, chipping and scrat ching. ARIES 3" round side bars are also available in polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black powder-coated steel. All ARIES 3" nerf bars come with heavy-duty steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets are strong and custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the side bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. They offer easy installation and the strength necessary to provide sound footing. These particular custom nerf bars fit specific years of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of tough polypropylene. These step pads feature a textured pattern for enhanced safety, and they cover a wide portion of the tubes for a more comfortable step.

Yes, assistance is recommended. The manual states "Assistance is recommended" at the start of the installation procedure, particularly when lining up and attaching the sidebar tubes to the brackets.
Yes. The installation procedure instructs you to remove the factory front body bolt and reuse it to attach the front mounting bracket to the body mount. The same applies to the center and rear body bolts. Factory bolts are reused at all three mounting locations.
Install the driver/left side first, then the passenger/right side. For each side: (1) attach the front mounting bracket to the front body mount using the factory bolt, (2) attach the center support bracket to the center body mount, (3) attach the rear mounting bracket to the rear body mount, (4) attach the sidebar front end to the front bracket with a 1/2" hex bolt, lock washer, and flat washer (snug only), (5) attach the sidebar center to the center bracket with an 8mm combo bolt (do not tighten), (6) attach the sidebar rear end to the rear bracket with a 1/2" hex bolt, lock washer, and flat washer (snug only), (7) level and adjust the sidebar, then fully tighten all hardware.
The manual instructs you to snug but not tighten hardware at the front and rear attachment points, and not to tighten the center bracket attachment. This allows you to level and adjust the sidebar before final tightening. Once the sidebar is properly leveled and positioned, you then fully tighten all hardware.
The torque specification for 1/2" bolts is 28 ft-lbs. This applies to the four 1/2" x 2" hex bolts used at the front and rear sidebar attachment points.
The 8mm combo bolts correspond to M8 bolts in the torque specification table, which should be torqued to 7 ft-lbs. These bolts attach the sidebar center to the center support bracket.
Use only mild automotive detergent to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or similar products that may damage the finish. Wax the product after installation and regularly thereafter to add a protective layer. Do not use any polish or wax containing abrasives. For polished, gloss and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs.
Perform periodic inspections to ensure that all hardware is secure and tight. The manual does not specify an inspection interval, but recommends checking regularly after installation.
