ARIES 3" side bars are more than a fancy decal for your truck, Jeep or SUV. They are a confident first step on each new adventure. These 3" nerf bars are constructed from strong carbon steel for superior rigidity, and they feature a sleek semi-gloss black powder coat finish. For an added edge, each nerf bar also goes through an E-coat process, before receiving its black powder coat, to strengthen and protect the final finish against peeling, chipping and scratching. ARIES 3" round side bars are also available in polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black powder-coated steel. All ARIES 3" nerf bars come with heavy-duty steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets are strong and custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the side bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. They offer easy installation and the strength necessary to provide sound footing. These particular custom nerf bars fit specific years of the Jeep Wrangler TJ (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of tough polypropylene. These step pads feature a textured pattern for enhanced safety, and they cover a wide portion of the tubes for a more comfortable step.

The ARIES 3" Round Black Steel Side Bars, Select Jeep Wrangler TJ Step Nerf Bar Kit (Part #BBDR35600) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the Curt 35600 and 35600-2 side bars are designed for Jeep Wrangler 1987–2006. However, the installation procedure differs by year: use the front hole in the mounting bracket for 1997 and newer vehicles, and the rear holes for 1987–1995 models. This difference accommodates changes in the vehicle's frame mounting locations.
The kit includes 4 mount brackets, 4 12mm tube bolts, 4 12mm flat washers, 4 12mm lock washers, and 4 plastic tube end caps. These components are sufficient to install side bars on both sides of the vehicle.
No. Do not remove the rubber bushings from the retainers on the vehicle. The mounting brackets attach to the bushings using the factory bolts that you remove from the frame mounting locations. The bushings remain in place.
The longer leg of the side bar goes toward the front of the vehicle. Install the plastic tube end caps on the bar before bolting it to the brackets.
No. Hand-tighten all bolts initially to allow for adjustment. After ensuring that all parts are properly aligned and the tube is level, then tighten all bolts to the recommended torque specifications.
The recommended torque for the 12mm bolts connecting the tube step to the mounting brackets is 65 ft-lbs.
The recommended torque for the bolts connecting the mounting brackets to the vehicle's body mounts is 45 ft-lbs.
No. For 1997 and newer Jeep Wranglers, use the front hole in the mounting bracket. For 1987–1995 models, use the rear holes in the mounting bracket. This accounts for differences in frame mounting locations between these model generations.
Each connection uses one 12mm tube bolt, one 12mm flat washer, and one 12mm lock washer. The flat washer goes under the bolt head, and the lock washer prevents loosening. Four bolts total are used per side (two at the front bracket, two at the rear bracket).
Four mounting brackets are included in the kit: two for the front of the vehicle and two for the rear. One bracket pair is used per side of the vehicle.
Yes. You must remove the 2 existing body mount bolts from the frame mounting locations located at the front and rear under the frame of the vehicle. These bolts are then reused to attach the mounting brackets to the vehicle's body mounts.
Yes, the Curt 35600 and 35600-2 fit Jeep Wrangler 1987–2006. Installation differs by year: use the front bracket holes for 1997+ and rear holes for 1987–1995.
Tighten tube-to-bracket bolts to 65 ft-lbs and bracket-to-body bolts to 45 ft-lbs. Hand-tighten first, then check alignment and level before final tightening.
No. Do not remove the rubber bushings. The mounting brackets attach to the bushings using the factory bolts you remove from the frame.
No. Hand-tighten first to allow adjustment. After checking alignment and level, tighten to the specified torque values.
