These 3" nerf bars are constructed from strong carbon steel for superior rigidity, and they feature a sleek semi-gloss black powder coat finish. For an added edge, each nerf bar also goes through an E-coat process, before receiving its black powder coat, to strengthen and protect the final finish against peeling, chipping and scratching. ARIES 3" round side bars are also available in polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black powder-coated steel. All ARIES 3" nerf bars come with heavy-duty steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets are strong and custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the side bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. They offer easy installation and the strength necessary to provide sound footing. These particular custom nerf bars fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500, 1500 Classic, 2500 HD, 2500 HD Classic, 3500 Classic or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 1500, 1500 Classic, 2500 HD, 2500 HD Classic, 3500 Classic or 3500 HD (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of tough polypropylene. These step pads feature a textured pattern for enhanced safety, and they cover a wide portion of the tubes for a more comfortable step.

The kit includes 1 driver/left side bar, 1 passenger/right side bar, 4 universal mounting brackets, 2 passenger/right front upper mounting brackets, 2 passenger/right front lower mounting brackets, 10 clip nuts (M8), 22 hex bolts (M8 × 25mm), 22 flat washers (M8), 22 lock washers (M8), 2 hex bolts (M10 × 30mm), 2 flat washers (M10), and 2 lock washers (M10).
You will need a ratchet, a 13mm socket, a 16mm wrench, a 16mm socket, and a bubble level. The bubble level is essential for ensuring the side bars are level and parallel with the vehicle during final alignment.

The installation uses the first, third, and fifth mounting tabs along the bottom edge of the vehicle body. The first tab is used for the front driver-side bracket, the third tab for the second driver-side bracket, and the fifth tab for the rear driver-side bracket.
No. When installing the mounting brackets in Steps 2 through 5, snug the hardware but do not fully tighten. The brackets are fully tightened only after the side bar is positioned and leveled in Step 8.
Position the side bar onto the mounting brackets, ensuring all mounting locations on the bottom of the side bar line up with the brackets. Attach the side bar using six M8 hex bolts, lock washers, and flat washers. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten until the side bar is leveled.

Ensure the vehicle is on level ground. Use a bubble level to verify that the side bar is level and parallel with the side of the vehicle. Make adjustments to the bracket positions and rotate the side bar as necessary until proper alignment is achieved.
M8 bolts should be torqued to 7 ft.-lbs., unless otherwise noted in the installation instructions.
M10 bolts used to connect the passenger front upper and lower mounting brackets should be torqued to 31.6 ft.-lbs. All other M10 hardware should be torqued to 16 ft.-lbs. unless otherwise noted.
For the first and third mounting tabs: rotate the bottom of the bracket to the side to expose the hole in the mounting tab, slide an M8 clip nut over the mounting tab, and rotate the bracket back into position. For the fifth mounting tab: remove the rubber plug from the access hole, insert a clip nut through the access hole, and align it over the adjacent small hole.
Place the upper mounting bracket against the rocker panel and align the weld nut with the mounting hole. Secure it using an M8 hex bolt, M8 lock washer, and M8 flat washer. Align one of the lower mounting brackets with the upper bracket and secure them together using an M10 hex bolt, M10 lock washer, and M10 flat washer, torqued to 31.6 ft.-lbs. Repeat for the second passenger mounting bracket. Snug all hardware but do not fully tighten until final alignment.
Wax the product after installation, and regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use polish or wax containing abrasives. For polished, gloss, and other smooth finishes, non-abrasive polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs. Clean with mild automotive detergent only. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes, or similar products that may damage the finish.
After installation, perform periodic inspections to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight. Refer to the maintenance section for guidance on protecting the product finish.
