ARIES nerf bars are all made vehicle-specific for a custom, no-drill fit, and they are available in multiple finish options. This set of nerf bars is constructed from 304 stainless steel with a polished finish. Our 304 stainless steel is a true stainless with high nickel content, offering better corrosion resistance and a long-lasting finish. The polish is a triple application, resulting in a mirror-like shine to complement your vehicle. ARIES 3" round side bars also come with high-strength steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets -- as well as the side bars and step pads -- are custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the nerf bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. This ensures easy, no-drill installation and the strength necessary to provide solid footing. This particular set of custom nerf bars fits specific years of the Chevy or GMC C2500, C3500, K2500 and K3500 (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of polypropylene. These wide, custom-positioned step pads feature a textured pattern and cover a wide portion of the tubes to be more comfortable and high-traction, even in wet conditions.

The front step bar mounting bracket is then installed using this same bolt location. The bolt size varies by model year: 1973–80 models use 1/2 x 5" bolts, while 1981–87 models use 1/2 x 3-1/2" bolts.
Yes. The nut must be removed from the rear body hold down bolt, which is located on the lower edge of the frame rail directly behind the front spring hanger on the rear suspension. The rear step bar mounting bracket is then inserted through the gap between the front spring hanger and the frame, and the bolt is reused to secure the bracket.
Yes. Four 12mm mounting holes must be drilled: two in the leaf spring hanger back plate (one per side for the rear bracket) and two in the lower inside edge of the front spring hanger (one per side for the rear support bracket). The manual instructs you to temporarily position the brackets, mark the hole locations, and then drill. These are permanent modifications to the vehicle frame.
1. Install the front cab mount bracket using the existing front cab mount bolt (hand tighten). 2. Install the rear mounting bracket using the rear body hold down bolt (hand tighten). 3. Connect the side bar to the front and rear brackets using M12 bolts, lock washers, and flat washers; check clearance with the rocker panel and use plastic spacer washers if needed. 4. Install the front support bracket to the frame and step bar using M10 bolts. 5. Drill and install the rear bracket to the leaf spring hanger back plate. 6. Drill and install the rear support bracket to the front spring hanger. 7. Check alignment and tighten all bolts. 8. Repeat for the opposite side.
The front cab mount bracket, rear mounting bracket, and side bar connections should be hand-tightened initially. The rear support bracket mounting bolt should also be hand-tightened before marking and drilling. After drilling is complete and all brackets are installed, check alignment and then tighten all bolts to the torque specifications listed in the manual. Final tightening occurs only after all components are positioned and aligned.
Torque specifications are: M6 bolt: 3 ft.-lbs.; M8 bolt: 7 ft.-lbs.; M10 bolt: 16 ft.-lbs.; M12 bolt: 28 ft.-lbs. In SAE sizes: 1/4" bolt: 3 ft.-lbs.; 5/16" bolt: 7 ft.-lbs.; 3/8" bolt: 16 ft.-lbs.; 7/16" bolt: 20 ft.-lbs.; 1/2" bolt: 28 ft.-lbs. The kit uses M10 and M12 bolts primarily, so apply 16 ft.-lbs. for M10 bolts and 28 ft.-lbs. for M12 bolts.
If additional clearance is necessary between the step bar and rocker panel, use the plastic spacer washers (M19) included in the kit. Position them between the flat washer on the bottom side of the cab bushing and the front step bar mounting brackets as required to achieve proper clearance.
The front support bracket should be positioned inside the step bar mounting bracket with the 90° end of the support bracket installing to the frame rail. The closed end of the bracket must face towards the front of the vehicle. When positioned correctly, the support bracket mounting hole aligns with an existing slotted hole in the vehicle frame.
1. Drill one 12mm mounting hole per side in the leaf spring hanger back plate. 2. Mount the rear bracket to the side bar. 3. Temporarily support the bar to the back plate and ensure the side bar is level to the vehicle. 4. Mark the hole location on the back plate. 5. Move the rear bracket away from the back plate and drill the hole. 6. Mount the bracket and side bar using an M12 hex bolt. 7. Repeat the process on the other side.
1. Remove the rear step bar mounting bolt. 2. Position the rear support bracket so it spans from the step bar mounting hole to the lower edge of the front spring hanger. 3. Install the step bar mounting bolt and hand-tighten. 4. Mark the location on the spring hanger for the mounting hole. 5. Drill one 12mm hole per side in the lower inside edge of the front spring hanger. 6. Secure the rear bracket to the spring hanger using an M12 hex head bolt, lock washer, flat washer, and hex nut. 7. Repeat on the other side.
Check fasteners periodically and re-tighten as necessary. For stainless steel and aluminum finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs. Mild soap may also be used to clean the product. Refer to the torque specification table when re-tightening hardware to prevent damage.
Before final tightening, check for proper clearance between the step bar and rocker panel. After installation, check the alignment of the step bar and make any final adjustments before tightening all bolts. After installation is complete, check fasteners periodically and re-tighten as necessary.
