ARIES 4" oval side bars are sleek, strong and custom-fitted to be a highly functional extension of your truck. ARIES 4" oval side bars are made with strong 4" elliptical tubing and are available in two different finish options to allow you full customization: polished stainless steel and black powder coat carbon steel. This set of side bars is constructed from 304 stainless steel, meaning high nickel content to be truly stainless. They easily resist rust and corrosion and feature a highly polished finish that is made to last. Something that sets the ARIES 4" oval side bar apart from all others is its blended end caps and OE-style bends. Rather than capping our side bars with a plastic cap, we offer a blended end cap for a smooth, finished appearance. We also equip the ends with a special 20-degree bend and original equipment styling to perfectly contour to your vehicle. ARIES 4" oval side bars are fitted with raised step pads to provide a wide stepping surface. The polypropylene construction will not crack over time, and because it has a textured grip, the surface is highly resistant to slips and skids, even when wet. To add an extra element of class to our oval sides, we also fit each one with a stainless steel insignia bearing the ARIES name. Installation of ARIES 4" oval side bars is quick and easy with custom-fitted mounting brackets and no drilling necessary. These nerf bars fit select model years of the Ford Explorer (see application info to verify fitment).

The kit includes: 1 driver/left side bar, 1 passenger/right side bar, 2 front mounting brackets, 2 front brace brackets, 2 rear mounting brackets, 6 bolt plates (10mm), 10 hex bolts (10mm), 18 flat washers (10mm), 16 lock washers (10mm), 8 hex nuts (10mm), 2 bolt plates (12mm), 2 flat washers (12mm), 2 lock washers (12mm), 2 hex nuts (12mm), 6 plastic bolt retainers (9mm), and 2 plastic bolt retainers (12mm).
You will need: a torque wrench, extension, level, 16mm socket, 16mm wrench, and 18mm socket.

Installation follows this sequence: (1) Locate driver-side front mounting locations, (2) Install front mounting bracket with 10mm bolt plate and plastic retainer, (3) Install front brace bracket with 12mm bolt plate and plastic retainer, (4) Connect mounting bracket to brace bracket with 10mm hex bolt, (5) Install rear mounting bracket with two 10mm bolt plates and plastic retainers, (6) Attach side bar to mounting brackets with 10mm hex bolts, (7) Adjust and level the side bar, then tighten all brackets to vehicle first followed by side bar connections, (8) Repeat steps 1–7 on the passenger side.
Do not fully tighten hardware as you install each component. Snug all hardware during initial assembly. Once the side bar is positioned and leveled, tighten all brackets to the vehicle first, followed by the side bar connections.
The plastic bolt retainers (9mm and 12mm) slide over the threads of the bolt plates to hold the bolts in place during installation. They are used at the front and rear mounting tabs to secure the bolt plates before the mounting brackets are attached.
After placing the side bar onto the mounting brackets and aligning the mounting points, use a level to adjust the side bar until it is level. The manual recommends tightening all brackets to the vehicle first, followed by the side bar connections, once the bar is properly leveled.
