The ARIES 3" bull bar is made for those who face the uncertain road without fear. This particular model is constructed from strong carbon steel and finished in a durable E-coat and semi-gloss black powder coat finish to outlast rust and the elements. Other available finishes include high-gloss black stainless steel, polished stainless steel and textured black steel. Customizing the look of your vehicle is simple with the ARIES 3" bull bar. It is equipped with pre-drilled light mounting holes and a removable skid plate. The center crossbar features two pre-drilled holes that readily accept an LED light bar or two LED work lights. The skid plate is made from 304 stainless steel and has a brushed finish to stop rust and hide scratches and scuffs. It also features an aggressive, ARIES-exclusive cutout pattern and can be removed for a customized look. Each ARIES 3" bull bar is made a vehicle-specific design, meaning that for each make and model, the bull bar has a custom bend and unique mounting brackets. This allows for the best possible fit on your vehicle and ensures solid attachment. The brackets also use pre-existing factory holes in the vehicle's frame to eliminate drilling, speed up installation and increase rigidity. This bull bar fits select model years of the Ford Explorer (see application info to verify fitment).

Yes. You must cut slots in the plastic bumper trim panel to clear the bull bar mounting tabs. The manual advises that on some models, the trim may be held in place with factory rivets at the ends (visible from outside below the fog lights), making removal and reinstallation extremely difficult and best done by a professional. Determine whether rivets are present before attempting removal.
Drilling is required only if your 2011 Ford Explorer is equipped with a factory fresh air inlet (scoop) in the plastic bumper cover. If present, you must either drill a 1/4" hole through the top and bottom of the scoop to relocate the metal clip, or use a hacksaw to cut material from the mounting area. If your vehicle does not have the factory air inlet, no drilling is necessary.

1. Start with the driver (left) side. Insert a 12mm nut & bolt plate into the large oval opening at the bottom of the frame rail, nut first, and slide it forward to line up the threaded hole with the factory hole at the front of the frame. 2. Position the driver side frame bracket over the bolt and secure it loosely with a 12mm flat washer, lock washer, and hex nut. 3. Slide a 50mm x 90mm x 10mm spacer plate between the frame channel and bracket. 4. Insert a 12mm x 45mm hex bolt with a lock washer and flat washer through the bracket, spacer plate, and into the nut plate. Leave all hardware loose. 5. Repeat for the passenger side, but first check whether the vehicle has a factory fresh air inlet. If it does, mark the bracket outline on the inlet, remove the inlet, cut material as needed, and reinstall before tightening.
Leave all frame bracket hardware loose during installation. After positioning the bull bar onto the mounting brackets and attaching it with the four 12mm x 30mm hex bolts, flat washers, lock washers, and hex nuts, level and adjust the bull bar, then tighten all hardware at that time.
Use the location of the previously installed frame mounting brackets to determine where to draw the top and bottom horizontal lines on the bumper trim panel. Carefully cut this area out with a sharp knife or hacksaw. Do not cut through the top or bottom edge of the bumper cover. Remove only enough material to clear the mounting tabs on the bull bar. The installer is responsible for determining the exact cuts required for proper installation.
If your vehicle is equipped with a factory fresh air inlet (scoop) in the plastic bumper cover: 1. Install the 12mm nut & bolt plate as normal. 2. Hold the frame bracket in approximate position and mark its outline onto the mounting tab on the plastic air inlet. 3. Remove the inlet and place it on a clean, stable work surface. 4. Use a hacksaw to cut the required material from the mounting area. Check fit often and trim as necessary. Do not cut off the mounting tab of the scoop. 5. Carefully pry off the metal clip and either move it to the new position indicated in the manual, or drill a 1/4" hole through the top and bottom of the scoop and replace the clip with the included 5mm x 25mm hex bolt, 2 5mm flat washers, and 1 5mm lock nut. Do not over-tighten the 5mm hardware. 6. Install the mount bracket as described in the standard procedure. Snug all hardware before reinstalling the air inlet scoop.
With assistance, position the bull bar onto the inside of the mounting brackets. Attach it using 4 12mm x 30mm hex bolts, 8 12mm flat washers, 4 12mm lock washers, and 4 12mm hex nuts. Do not tighten at this time. After positioning and leveling the bull bar, tighten all hardware.
Wax the bull bar after installing to protect your investment. Regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives that could damage the finish. For stainless steel, aluminum polish may be used to polish small scratches and scuffs, and mild soap may be used to clean the product. For gloss black finishes, use only mild soap to clean the product.
Perform periodic inspections to ensure that all hardware is secure and tight. The manual does not specify an inspection interval, but recommends checking regularly.
The two 50mm x 90mm x 10mm spacer plates are installed between the frame channel and the frame mounting brackets to ensure proper spacing and alignment during installation.
