The ARIES TrailChaser Bumper Jeep JK Winch Reinforcement Bracket Bumper Bracket (Part #BBDR2072101) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The kit includes: 1 winch support bracket, 2 nut plates, 2 M10 × 30 mm hex bolts with flat washers and lock washers, and 2 M12 × 30 mm hex bolts with flat washers and lock washers. All fasteners are included; no additional hardware is required for bracket installation.
The manual states the bracket is designed for a Jeep, but does not specify the model year or generation. Contact Aries Automotive at 877.287.8634 or check ARIESAUTOMOTIVE.COM to confirm fitment for your specific Jeep model before purchasing.
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, Phillips screwdriver, flathead screwdriver, 10 mm socket, 16 mm socket, 18 mm socket, deburring tool, cut-off tool, touch-up paint, and masking tape. A torque wrench is essential because fasteners must be torqued to specific values (M10 bolts to 25 ft.-lbs., M12 bolts to 45 ft.-lbs.).
Yes. The installation requires removal of the factory air dam, bumper, and vacuum pump bracket to access the frame where the winch support bracket mounts. The bumper is secured with four nuts (removed with an 18 mm socket) and must be carefully lifted from the frame and set on a flat work surface.
Yes. The vacuum pump bracket must be cut off as shown in Step 7. After cutting, the cut edge must be deburred using a deburring tool, and the raw metal must be protected with touch-up paint to prevent corrosion.
No drilling is required. The bracket mounts to existing threaded holes in the Jeep frame using nut plates that align with the frame holes.
M10 bolts must be torqued to 25 ft.-lbs. M12 bolts must be torqued to 45 ft.-lbs. Do not tighten any fasteners until all four bolts are started; then remove the temporary tape and torque both bolt sizes in the final step.
1. Remove air dam and its fasteners. 2. Disconnect fog light wiring harness and unclip from bumper. 3. Remove frame cover fasteners. 4. Remove bumper nuts (18 mm socket) from both sides. 5. Lift bumper off frame. 6. Remove and loosen vacuum pump bolts. 7. Cut and deburr vacuum bracket, apply touch-up paint. 8. Pull wiring harness out and tape nut plates. 9. Tuck wiring harness into frame channel and position nut plates with tape. 10. Set winch support bracket in place with wiring routed below it. 11. Insert M12 and M10 bolts with washers on both sides without tightening. 12. Remove tape and torque M10 bolts to 25 ft.-lbs. and M12 bolts to 45 ft.-lbs.
Starting all four bolts before tightening ensures proper alignment of the bracket with the frame and prevents cross-threading or misalignment that could damage the nut plates or frame threads.
The fog light wiring harness must be tucked into the frame channel and routed below the winch support bracket. This routing protects the wiring from damage and ensures it does not interfere with bracket operation.
Periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight. The bracket should be waxed after installation, and regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use polish or wax containing abrasives, dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, or wire brushes, as these may damage the finish. Mild automotive detergent may be used to clean the product.
Wax the bracket after installation and regularly thereafter to add a protective layer over the finish. For polished, gloss, and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs. Do not use any polish or wax containing abrasives, as these will damage the finish. Clean with mild automotive detergent only; do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, or wire brushes.
The bracket is designed for a Jeep, but the manual does not specify the model. Contact Aries Automotive at 877.287.8634 or visit ARIESAUTOMOTIVE.COM to confirm fitment for your specific model before purchasing.
