The Blue Ox BX2341 Tow Bar Bracket comes complete with all the necessary hardware and instructions, simplifying the installation process and saving you a trip to the store.

Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.
The company describes its foundation as customer service, designing around what owners actually ask for, and it runs an RV park adjacent to the factory where customers can stay. Sister operations at the same Nebraska site include Automatic grain roller mills and MAD-RAMPS pivoting ramp systems.

Required tools include: large vise grip, flat screwdriver, utility knife, torque wrench, XS drill, reciprocating saw, Loctite Red, 1/4" drill bit, 3/8" drill bit, 8MM socket, 10MM socket, 12MM socket, 7/16" socket, 9/16" socket, 5/16" nut driver, and 1-1/4" hole saw.
Yes. Blue Ox towing products are intended to be installed by Blue Ox Dealers who are familiar with the products and have the equipment and knowledge necessary to do fit work. Blue Ox Dealers can be found at www.blueox.com or by contacting technical service at (402) 385-3051.
The fascia and windshield washer fluid reservoir must be removed during installation and reinstalled afterward. The air baffle (on models equipped with one) must also be removed and reinstalled. All removed components should be placed on a flat, sturdy surface and reinstalled unless otherwise noted after baseplate installation.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill two 1/4" holes on the driver side and one 1/4" hole on the passenger side to relocate wire mounting bolts. Additionally, you must drill four 3/8" holes on the baseplate (two on each side) and one 1-1/4" access hole into the side of the frame on each side of the vehicle.
Yes, significant trimming and cutting is required. Using a reciprocating saw, you must trim the indicated area on both sides of the vehicle (Step 10), remove the temperature sensor bracket from the bumper (Step 14), and notch a 1" x 1" angled piece from the corner of the indicated area on both sides to allow room for the baseplate (Step 13). Using a utility knife, you must trim plastic pieces as indicated in Steps 11, 12, and 15 on both sides of the vehicle.
Yes, use a good quality paint to spray cut edges of frame to prevent rusting.
Use Loctite Red on all bolt threads and tighten all bolts according to the torque chart provided in the manual. For Grade 5 bolts: 1/4" = 10 ft-lbs, 5/16" = 19 ft-lbs, 3/8" = 33 ft-lbs, 7/16" = 54 ft-lbs, 1/2" = 78 ft-lbs. For Grade 8.8 metric bolts: 6MM = 6 ft-lbs, 8MM = 16 ft-lbs, 10MM = 31 ft-lbs, 12MM = 54 ft-lbs. Specific torque values for individual bolts in the baseplate assembly are not provided; use the grade and size chart.
First, slide the baseplate into position, line it up with the existing hole on the side of the vehicle, ensure it is level, clamp it into place, and insert one 6MM bolt on each side (Step 17). Then insert two 3/8" bolts into the top two holes with 3/8" whiz nuts and wires on the backside, and two 3/8" bolts into the bottom two holes with 3/8" nut plates and wires on the backside (Step 19). Finally, use Loctite Red on all bolt threads and tighten all bolts to the appropriate torque (Step 22).
Attach the permanent baseplate safety cables to the provided convenience link on the baseplate. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. Ensure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts. Do not mount the cables against wires, hoses or brake lines. Install on both sides of the vehicle. These cables are strongly recommended and must remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed.
Remove the temperature sensor from its bracket (Step 14), then use a reciprocating saw to remove the temperature sensor bracket from the bumper. After baseplate installation is complete, reinstall the temperature sensor to the bottom of the driver side convenience link using the included zip tie (Step 25).
Hold the fascia as close to its original position, mark and trim the fascia around the convenience links and attachment tabs, then reinstall the fascia and fascia cover (Step 26). Before reinstalling, ensure all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly.
On the passenger side of the vehicle, remove the front bolt from the baseplate (Step 20). This bolt will be used when reinstalling the windshield washer fluid reservoir. Reinstall the reservoir using this bolt and the two bolts you removed in Step 6 (Step 22).
If your vehicle has an air baffle, remove the three bolts holding it (two on the outside of the frame and one on the backside) using a 10MM socket and set it aside (Step 7). Before reinstalling, remove the two rubber grommets from the air baffle (Step 23). Reinstall the air baffle using the provided 6MM bolt with hardware on the outside of the frame and the existing bolt and hardware on the backside (Step 24).
Unsnap the wire loom from the frame and unplug the temperature sensor connector, laying it down out of the way (Step 9). The temperature sensor will be relocated later to the bottom of the driver side convenience link using an included zip tie (Step 25).
The kit includes: 4 x 3/8"-16 whiz nuts with 14" wire, 4 x 3/8" nut plates with 14" wire, 1 x BX2341 baseplate, 2 x attachment tab assemblies with hole, 1 x 1/4"-20 x 3/4" hex head bolt Grade 5, 2 x #10-32 1/2" round slotted head screws, 8 x 3/8"-16 x 1-1/2" hex head bolts Grade 5, 1 x 6MM-1.0 x 30MM hex head bolt Grade 8.8, 1 x 6MM-1.0 x 45MM hex head bolt Grade 8.8, 2 x #12-14 x 1" self-drilling screws, 2 x #10-32 hex nuts, 1 x 1/4"-20 hex nylon nut, 2 x 1/4" flat washers, 1 x 3/8" flat washer, 2 x 1/4" lock washers, 8 x 3/8" lock washers, 2 x #10 lock washers, 2 x class III safety cables, 2 x 3/8" quicklinks, 1 x 8" nylon cable tie, 2 x black cap plug receivers, and 1 x electrical bracket.
The baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR. Exceeding this weight will void the manufacturer's warranty. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for manufacturer's towing specifications.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
Before reinstalling the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly.
