Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The fascia, skid plate, belly pan, and bumper must be removed during installation. The tow hooks are also removed but not reinstalled. All other removed items will be reinstalled after the baseplate is installed. Place all removed components on a flat, sturdy surface.

Yes. Drilling is required. You must drill two holes using a 1/4" drill bit to mount the electrical bracket to the fascia. Additionally, a 1-1/8" hole saw is required for the tail light wiring kit installation. Some trimming may also be necessary to compensate for vehicle manufacturer tolerances.
The bumper may need to be reamed out to line up with the baseplate when reinstalling it. This is noted as a possibility in step 6 of the baseplate installation instructions.

The baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR. Exceeding this weight will void the manufacturer's warranty. Reference your vehicle owner's manual for the manufacturer's towing specifications.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage, and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. Each cable must have an adequate weight rating for the towing system. The weight rating of the two cables together will not qualify. Do not mount the cables against wires, hoses, or brake lines. These cables should remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed and are to be used in conjunction with, not as a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
The permanent baseplate safety cables should be attached to the provided convenience link on the baseplate and secured to a solid piece of the frame of the vehicle. The manual shows two recommended options: Option 1 uses a convenience link tab on the baseplate, and Option 2 uses a quicklink. The cables must be routed around the crossmember or frame of the vehicle. Be sure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts. Install on both sides of the vehicle.
Be sure that all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly before reinstalling the fascia.
It is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts before each towing trip. Be sure to use Loctite Red on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications.
