Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. The BX3235 includes 2 pieces of 36" Class III baseplate safety cables and 2 pieces of 3/8" quicklinks. These cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame and must not be mounted against wires, hoses, or brake lines.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage, and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
Failure to read and follow the installation instructions could result in separation of the towed vehicle from the tow bar, causing property damage, loss of towed vehicle, personal injury or death. Always use hardware supplied in the hardware kit and existing hardware specified in the installation instructions. Do not assume existing holes and bolts are adequate for baseplate mounting.
Before installing the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning. After installation is complete, verify that the baseplate is level with respect to the vehicle frame. Check that safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts. Inspect all bolts to ensure they are tightened to the correct torque specifications.
It is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts before each towing trip.
