Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.
The company describes its foundation as customer service, designing around what owners actually ask for, and it runs an RV park adjacent to the factory where customers can stay. Sister operations at the same Nebraska site include Automatic grain roller mills and MAD-RAMPS pivoting ramp systems.

Yes, the BX2324 is designed specifically for 2007-09 Hyundai Santa Fe. However, dimensional variations between otherwise identical vehicles can be considerable, and minor adjustments such as filing holes, bending electrical rods or bending end plates may be necessary to compensate for manufacturer tolerances.
No. Due to the design of the removable tabs on the BX2324, the RangeFinderII tow bar cannot be used with this baseplate.
Most adapters cannot be used with the BX2324 baseplate. Only the BX8833 and BX88151 adapters are compatible.
The attachment tab height is 23 inches and the attachment tab width is 24 inches. If the front of your vehicle looks different, contact Blue Ox at (402) 385-3051.
Required tools include: Phillips screwdriver, 10MM socket, 12MM socket, 13/32 drill bit, 1 1/4 inch hole saw, diagonal cutters, reciprocating saw, and Loctite RED. When using power drills, be aware of the dangers of torque and drill bit length.
Yes. Blue Ox towing products are intended to be installed by Blue Ox Dealers who are familiar with the products and have the equipment and knowledge to do fit work. Blue Ox Dealers can be found at www.blueox.com or by contacting Blue Ox Customer Care at (402) 385-3051.
Yes. Drilling is required. You will need to drill a 1 1/4 inch hole into the frame on both sides of the vehicle (step 13) and use a 13/32 inch drill bit to drill out holes in the spacer plates on both sides (step 14).
Yes. Trimming of the fascia is required. In step 19, you must use side cutters to remove the area around the attachment tab receiver and convenience link to allow them to come through the fascia on both sides of the vehicle.
The metal bumper undergoes permanent modifications: the bumper horn is cut off flush with the base on both sides (step 10), and the end of the metal bumper is cut off on both sides (step 12). Additionally, tabs that the coolant lines were attached to on the passenger side are bent over (step 11).
The removal sequence is: (1) three plastic Phillips push pins and one metric bolt from the top edge of the fascia on both sides; (2) one metric bolt from the wheel well on both sides; (3) two plastic Phillips push pins from underneath the wheel well on both sides; (4) three plastic Phillips push pins from underneath the middle; (5) two metric bolts from the air baffle on the driver side; (6) one metric bolt and wire harness clip on both sides; (7) two metric bolts from the cooling condenser on the passenger side (discard these bolts); (8) one metric bolt underneath the metal bumper on the passenger side; (9) four metric bolts and one metric bolt from inside the metal bumper on both sides.
Slide the spacer plate into place and line it up flush with the bottom, then slide it as far forward as it will go. Clamp the plate in place with vise grips. Using the spacer plate as a template, drill out the holes using a 13/32 inch drill bit. Do this on both sides of the vehicle.
Fasten the convenience link onto the baseplate before installation. Slide the baseplate into place lining up the holes of the baseplate with the holes of the spacer plate. Insert the nut plates into the frame and line up with the top drilled holes. Insert a 3/8-16 x 2 1/2 inch hex bolt with a 3/8 inch lock washer into the top two holes and tighten down with a 3/8 inch nut plate. Then insert a 3/8-16 x 2 1/2 inch hex bolt with a 3/8 inch lock washer into the bottom two holes and tighten down with a 3/8-16 hex nut. Do this on both sides of the vehicle. Be sure to use Loctite RED on all bolts before tightening.
Use the condenser support (part 102-6807) and tighten it down with 1/4-20 x 3/4 inch hex bolts and 1/4-20 hex flange whiz lock nuts to reposition the coolant line according to the installation diagram.
Reinstall the metal bumper using the five existing bolts that were removed in step 9 on both sides of the vehicle. Then reinstall the air baffle and bolts that were removed in step 5.
Before installing the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning. Align the fascia to its original position and using side cutters, remove the area around the attachment tab receiver and convenience link to allow them to come through the fascia on both sides of the vehicle.
The manual provides a torque chart for Grade 5 and Grade 8 inch bolts and Grade 8.8 and 10.9 metric bolts on page 1. However, the specific torque values for the 3/8-16 and 1/4-20 bolts used in this installation are referenced as being on page 3 of the Baseplate Towing General Instructions, which is not included in this manual. All bolts must be tightened according to the torque chart and must have Loctite RED applied before tightening.
The BX8869 Bulb and Socket Wiring Kit is recommended for this vehicle, though not explicitly required. The manual notes a possible location for the kit on the fascia diagram but does not provide detailed installation instructions for it.
Permanent baseplate safety cables (part 226-0046, 36 inch Class III, two included) are strongly recommended and must be attached to the baseplate and connected to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. The cables prevent the towed vehicle from breaking loose if the connection between the frame and baseplate fails. They must not be mounted against wires, hoses or brake lines. The cables must remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed. They are in addition to, and not a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
Handling of some cosmetic parts when installing this product may require the use of protective covers, rags, specialty tools, etc. to prevent damage.
Before each towing trip, inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts and loose bolts. Ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning. Be sure to use Loctite Red on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications.
Yes. Remove the attachment tabs when not in use if applicable.
If a bolt is lost or in need of replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade. In most cases it will be Grade 5. Do not substitute homemade or non-typical parts. Use only genuine factory replacement parts. Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox Dealer or Distributor. Failing to use the correct replacement bolt will void the manufacturer's warranty.
The warranty is voided if: (1) you fail to follow or alter the installation instructions in either installation or required equipment; (2) you tow behind a non-motorized vehicle; (3) you substitute homemade or non-typical parts; or (4) you use a replacement bolt of a different grade than the original.
Yes, the BX2324 is designed for 2007-09 Hyundai Santa Fe. Minor adjustments may be needed due to manufacturer tolerances.
Most adapters cannot be used. Only BX8833 and BX88151 are compatible. RangeFinderII tow bar cannot be used.
Phillips screwdriver, 10MM and 12MM sockets, 13/32 inch and 1 1/4 inch drill bits, diagonal cutters, reciprocating saw, and Loctite RED.
Yes. Trimming of the fascia is required. The metal bumper horn and end are cut off, and the fascia is trimmed around the attachment tab receiver.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended. They must be attached to the baseplate and frame, and must not contact wires, hoses or brake lines. They are in addition to legally required safety cables.
Inspect for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts. Verify all electrical connections are plugged in and functioning. Ensure all bolts are tightened to specification with Loctite Red.
The baseplate must be replaced and cannot be reused. Do not use a damaged or incomplete baseplate.
