The BX2344 Tow Bar Bracket is a testament to Blue Ox's commitment to quality, durability, and user-friendly design.

Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.
The company describes its foundation as customer service, designing around what owners actually ask for, and it runs an RV park adjacent to the factory where customers can stay. Sister operations at the same Nebraska site include Automatic grain roller mills and MAD-RAMPS pivoting ramp systems.

The attachment tab height is 14 inches and the width is 24 inches.
Required tools include: large vise grip, utility knife, torque wrench, reciprocating saw, flat screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, Loctite Red, drill, 3/8" drill bit, 1/2" drill bit, 10MM socket, 12MM socket, 12MM wrench, 9/16" socket, 9/16" wrench, and 3/4" socket and wrench.

Yes. The fascia and bumper must be removed and reinstalled as part of the baseplate installation. The removal and reinstallation process is detailed in steps 1 through 21 of the installation instructions.
Yes. Drilling is required at multiple points: a 3/8" drill bit is used to drill out small holes on the inside of the bumper (both sides), and a 1/2" drill bit is used to drill holes in the bottom of the bumper (both sides). The baseplate is used as a template for some drilling operations.
Trimming and cutting required includes: trimming the plastic shield on both sides of the vehicle, trimming the turbo shroud on both sides, removing plastic plugs from the underside of the frame (both sides, not reinstalled), and using a reciprocating saw to notch and remove a 1/2" x 1/2" section of the bumper on both sides for frame bracket clearance. The fascia must also be trimmed around the convenience links and attachment tabs.
The temperature sensor must be unclipped from the bracket on the bumper and the wire loom unsnapped from the backside of the bumper. The temperature sensor bracket is then bent back toward the radiator to allow clearance for the baseplate. The temperature sensor is reattached after the baseplate installation is complete.
The kit includes: 6 nut plates with 14" wire (3/8"), 1 baseplate, 2 frame connectors, 2 attachment tab assemblies with holes, 1 bolt (1/4"-20 x 3/4"), 4 bolts (1/2"-13 x 1-1/2"), 2 screws (#10-32 1/2" round slotted head), 6 bolts (3/8"-16 x 1-1/4"), 2 self-drilling screws (#12-14 x 1"), 2 hex nuts (#10-32), 1 nylon nut (1/4"-20), 2 flat washers (1/2"), 6 lock washers (3/8"), 4 lock washers (1/2"), 2 lock washers (#10), 2 flat washers (12MM), 1 electrical bracket, 2 class III safety cables, and 2 quicklinks (3/8").
All bolts must be tightened according to the torque chart provided in the manual based on bolt size and grade. Metric bolts: 6MM Grade 8.8 = 6 ft-lbs, Grade 10.9 = 8 ft-lbs; 8MM Grade 8.8 = 16 ft-lbs, Grade 10.9 = 22 ft-lbs; 10MM Grade 8.8 = 31 ft-lbs, Grade 10.9 = 40 ft-lbs; 12MM Grade 8.8 = 54 ft-lbs, Grade 10.9 = 70 ft-lbs. Inch bolts: 1/4" Grade 5 = 10 ft-lbs, Grade 8 = 14 ft-lbs; 3/8" Grade 5 = 33 ft-lbs, Grade 8 = 47 ft-lbs; 1/2" Grade 5 = 78 ft-lbs, Grade 8 = 119 ft-lbs. Loctite Red must be used on all bolt threads.
The baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). Exceeding this weight will void the manufacturer's warranty. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for manufacturer's towing specifications.
Yes. Two permanent baseplate safety cables are included and strongly recommended. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame using the provided quicklinks. The cables must not rub against hoses or moving parts. These cables are to be used in conjunction with, and not as a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
The frame brackets are loosely attached to the baseplate and bumper using 1/2" bolts with lock washers (step 15). After the bumper is partially reinstalled, 1/2" bolts with lock washers and flat washers are installed into the bottom of the frame to secure the frame brackets, and these bottom bolts are tightened at that time (step 17). Both sides of the vehicle are done simultaneously.
The bumper reinstallation sequence is: (1) start by installing one existing bolt at the top on each side of the vehicle (step 16), (2) install and tighten the 1/2" bolts with lock washers and flat washers into the bottom of the frame on both sides (step 17), (3) finish reinstalling the bumper using the existing nuts and bolts, applying Loctite Red to all bumper hardware (step 18), (4) reattach the temperature sensor and wire loom (step 19).
Before reinstalling the fascia, ensure all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly. After installation, the owner is responsible for inspecting all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts before each towing trip. Ensure all bolts are tightened to the recommended torque specifications using Loctite Red.
Before each towing trip, inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts. Use Loctite Red on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications. Paint cut frame edges to prevent rusting. The attachment tabs should be removed when not in use. Register your product online at www.blueox.com to receive alerts about product offerings, updates, upgrades, maintenance and safety bulletins, and recalls.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
The BX8848 Tail Light Wiring Kit is recommended for this vehicle, but the manual does not specify whether it is required or optional. Contact Blue Ox at (402) 385-3051 for clarification on whether this kit is necessary for your specific installation.

Yes. A 3/8" drill bit is used to drill holes in the bumper, and a 1/2" drill bit is used to drill holes in the bottom of the bumper. Trimming of plastic shields, turbo shroud, and bumper sections is also required.
Required tools include: torque wrench, drill with 3/8" and 1/2" bits, reciprocating saw, sockets (10MM, 12MM, 9/16", 3/4"), wrenches, screwdrivers, vise grip, utility knife, and Loctite Red.
Use the torque chart in the manual based on bolt size and grade. For example: 3/8" Grade 5 bolts = 33 ft-lbs, 1/2" Grade 5 bolts = 78 ft-lbs. Apply Loctite Red to all bolt threads before tightening.
Yes. Two permanent baseplate safety cables with quicklinks are included. They must be connected from the baseplate to the vehicle's frame rail or cross member and must not rub against hoses or moving parts.
The baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR. Exceeding this weight voids the warranty. Check your vehicle owner's manual for towing specifications.
Yes. Both the fascia and bumper must be removed and reinstalled as part of the installation process.
The manual notes that dimensional variations between otherwise identical vehicles can be considerable. While the baseplate was designed for easy installation, it may be necessary to tailor the baseplate slightly to compensate for vehicle manufacturer's tolerances. If alignment issues occur, contact Blue Ox Technical Service at (402) 385-3051 for guidance on adjustments.
If the safety cables rub against hoses or moving parts, reposition them immediately. The cables must not rub against any hoses or moving parts, as this could cause damage. Reroute the cables to a different solid piece of the frame or adjust their position to eliminate contact with hoses and moving parts.
Before reinstalling the fascia, ensure all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly. If electrical connections are not working, check that all connectors are fully seated and plugged in. Do not reinstall the fascia until all electrical systems are confirmed to be functioning.
Tighten all loose bolts immediately using the appropriate torque specifications from the torque chart in the manual. Use Loctite Red on all bolt threads before tightening. Before each towing trip, inspect all towing equipment for loose bolts and tighten as needed.
