Connect to your lifestyle with a custom hitch receiver from CURT. All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Ford Mustang (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you?re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

The kit includes: 2 conical toothed washers (3/8"), 2 hex flange nuts (7/16-14), 2 carriage bolts (7/16-14 x 1 1/2"), 1 fishwire tool (CM-438-FW), 2 round hole spacers (CM-SP32, .188 x 1.50 x 2.00"), 2 square hole spacers (CM-SP7, .250 x 1.00 x 2.00"), and 2 hex bolts (M10 - 1.5 x 45mm).
You will need a 7/16" carbide drill bit (recommended for the tough bumper material), a 1/4" drill bit, a 1" drill bit or hole saw, a wrench or socket set for M10 and 7/16" fasteners, and a torque wrench. A fishwire tool (included) is used to route the carriage bolt through the bumper access hole.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill two 7/16" holes in the bottom of the bumper (using a carbide bit), one 1/4" hole, and one 1" access hole inboard of each hitch tab. On some models a rectangular hole may already exist and the 1" access hole will not need to be drilled.
The bumper material is very tough and difficult to drill. A 7/16" carbide drill bit is recommended to drill the two main mounting holes in the bumper without dulling or breaking the bit.
Yes. Step 1 requires you to remove the bumper bracket bolts from the bottom of each frame rail. These fasteners will not be reused and should be returned to the vehicle owner.
1. Remove factory bumper bracket bolts from each frame rail (do not reuse). 2. Raise hitch into position and hand-tighten M10 bolt assemblies through the hitch into existing weldnuts (discard M10 shipping nuts). 3. Drill two 7/16" holes in the bumper bottom using the hitch tabs as guides. 4. Drill a 1/4" hole and 1" access hole inboard of each hitch tab. 5. Fishwire a 7/16" carriage bolt and block through each access hole, then attach flat washer, lock washer, and nut. 6. Check receiver tube is level; add spacers if needed between hitch side arm and frame rail, then tighten all bolts. 7. Torque M10 fasteners to 45 lb.-ft. and 7/16" fasteners to 70 lb.-ft.
No. When you first install the M10 bolt assemblies through the hitch into the existing weldnuts, hand-tighten them only. Do not fully torque them until step 7, after the bumper holes are drilled, the carriage bolts are installed, and the receiver tube is checked for level.
Discard the M10 shipping nuts. They are removed when you install the M10 bolt assemblies through the hitch into the existing weldnuts in step 2.
The fishwire tool (CM-438-FW) is used to route a 7/16" carriage bolt and block through the 1" access hole drilled in the bumper. Thread the carriage bolt through the access hole using the fishwire, then attach a flat washer, lock washer, and nut to secure it.
After drilling the bumper holes and installing the carriage bolts, check that the receiver tube is level. If variations in bumper position prevent the receiver from being level, install the provided spacers between the hitch side arm and frame rail before fully tightening all bolts.
Torque the M10 fasteners to 45 lb.-ft.
Torque the 7/16" fasteners to 70 lb.-ft. This applies to the carriage bolts and associated hardware installed through the bumper.
The manual does not specify the gross load capacity or towing weight limits. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Contact Curt Manufacturing technical support at 1-800-798-0813 for capacity information.
All non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This maintenance helps ensure safe operation and extends the life of the hitch.
The Curt 11041 is designed for 1994–2004 Ford Mustang V6 models only (not GT). Confirm your year and engine before purchasing.
Yes. You must drill two 7/16" holes, one 1/4" hole, and one 1" access hole in the bumper. Use a 7/16" carbide drill bit for the main holes because the bumper material is very tough.
You need a 7/16" carbide drill bit, 1/4" and 1" drill bits, wrenches or sockets for M10 and 7/16" fasteners, and a torque wrench. The fishwire tool is included.
Torque M10 fasteners to 45 lb.-ft. and 7/16" fasteners to 70 lb.-ft.
